A cosy and comfortable apartment situated in a well serviced historical quarter of Florence with access to it own garden space, in which you can relax and enjoy a quiet moment.
A renovated apartment situated in the artisan quarters of Florence, an off beat tourist area, just a leisurely 15 min walk from the all the major historical sites and the train station, en route to which you'll experience the day to day life of the locals. The apartment is at ground level with it's own independent access allowing you to come and go as you please. It also has its own fully equipped kitchen in which you can prepare your own meals or snacks to be eaten in the secret little garden or where you can just chill after a hard day touring the sites. The bedroom is furnished with a unique antique Dutch brass double sized (140x195 cm) bed which will provide you with a cozy good night's sleep.
The area surrounding the apartment is littered with things to do culturally, for leisure and for entertainment. Within a stone throw of the apartments location there are two major squares bubbling with culinary opportunities, café's and bars which are open until late if you're into it a bit of local night life. Should you prefer a quiet night in, just down the road from us there are fruit and vegetable stores and mini markets from which you'll be able choose to your hearts content. A few paces away from the front door you will also find a café, for an espresso local style, a Bakery, Launderette, Hair dresser, ready to cater for your immediate needs.
The whole apartment and the back garden dedicated to it.
Interaction with Guests
I am available at all times, especially if you need help. I'll come over to say hello if you're in the garden otherwise I'll respect your privacy.
This neighborhood within the historic area of Florence is still populated with locals and artisans. It offers a unique insight to local life with it's many coffee bars and markets in which to have an espresso and mix with the locals. A safe area also by night as there is quite an active night life with some of the best bars and restaurants in Florence.
The neighborhood is well connected with buses that will take you into town and out, but the distances are so short that it's hardly worth it. Everything of interest is within comfortable walking distance. Besides you will want to take the walk as you get the see the local life as you head towards the historical sites.
The only thing that really matters is the respect towards the neighbours which live above. There is, by law, a 11.30 pm time limit after which no loud disturbing noise are allowed. So in a nut shell please respect this especially if you're chilling in the garden late at night. Thanks
Gianpaolo is a great host. He was in touch in advance to send us all relevant directions. Upon arrival he welcomed us and carefully described all the relevant details about the flat and activities in town. The flat is located a few minutes walk off Santo Spirito and S. Maria del Carmine, it is nice and comfortable, and the garden is pure bliss! Overall, I strongly recommend Gianpaolo as a highly reliable host and his flat as a nice place to stay
A place to stay is more than just a place to stay, it is a warm and welcoming space with a host who is more than gracious and also generous. There was a big bowel of fruit on the table and a few grocery supplies as well. Gianpaolo was helpful with many things including letting me print tickets for a concert i attended on his computer. The garden was restful and the bed was very comfortable, when I next go to Florence I will choose this place to stay.
Gianpaolo must have magical powers; he was on the step waiting for us when we arrived late in the evening! He gave us a quick tour and recommended restaurants a few minutes walk away.
Having our own kitchen rather than a set breakfast time was a bonus; as was the espresso pot. There was a huge bowl of fruit, and breakfast basics to get us started and just the right amount of the delicious home made marmalade.
At the end of our week, Gianpaolo booked our taxi to the airport and waited with us till it arrived.
Incidentally, we got good value from 3-day bus passes (12 Euro) which enabled us to take a couple of trips into the hills with wonderful views of Florence. If we go again we'll try and make time to walk 6 km from Fiesole to Settignano.
We booked relatively last minute and Gianpaolo was very accommodating and good at being in touch beforehand. We arrived earlier than planned but this wasn't an issue for him. Having breakfast things provided, as well as maps and top tips, was useful and a nice welcome to the city. The homemade apricot jam was so tasty - we wished we'd been able to take it home. Gianpaolo even provided mosquito repellents for indoor and outdoor use which were really handy and stopped us getting bitten at the apartment although we did still get bitten whilst visiting the Boboli Gardens.
The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. Having WiFi was great for uploading all those amazing Florentine panorama photos. We ended up spending a lot of time experiencing the neighbourhood around the apartment and particularly enjoyed the craft beer brewery just down the road (Archea Brewery). The neighbourhood has everything you'd want from Florence without the crowds or big tour groups. We'd definitely recommend the newly reopened Fort Belvedere which is just a stroll through the Giardino di Boboli. The restaurants and bars just a few minutes stroll from the apartment are great and cater for the meat eater to the upmarket vegetarian. We'd definitely book this fab 'place to stay' again.
Gianpaolo was a lovely host- easy to communicate with and very welcoming. We loved the neighborhood, quick to walk to tourist attractions but great things to do right near the apartment as well. The apartment was very clean with a generous amount of supplies in the kitchen and bathroom left for visitors. Unfortunately due to the rain & heat Florence is having a real mosquito problem right now. Obviously this is not Gianpaolo's fault, but the reason we took the apartment was because of the garden-- which was beautiful-- and we were unable to use it because of the mosquitos. Without the garden there is minimal living space in the apartment, so if you're hanging out for a couple hours you are more or less on the bed (or a small table in the kitchen). Additionally, the bed is a bit small/creaky. Outside of these two issues it was a lovely place to stay with an incredibly welcoming and helpful host.
Great location, in a living neighborhood but only five minutes by foot from the historic centrum. Very nice apartment, looking to the rear garden so silent at night,
exceptionally clean, warm welcome with fruit mand, map with interesting locations nearby. Owner always available. I recommend this apartment for your stay in Florence.
Gian is a gracious host. From the minute we arrived he made us feel at home and shared his favourite restaurants and gelato shop (invaluable). The apartment is perfectly located away from the hustle of tourists in a quiet but hip neighbourhood. Wedged in between Florence's most enjoyed gardens.. Breakfast was plentiful.. The apartment was reasonably cool even in the height of summer heat. We would definitely rent again
As someone who has lived abroad and consequently travelled, I understand the need of a good place to stay. Somewhere that will make you feel at home as much as possible. I hope that our guests will feel this way after having spending time with us.
