The location of this apartment is ground zero Williamsburg, and possibly the most amenity- filled block in NYC. It is also one of the lovliest, in a neighborhood more known for its fun than its charm. You are less than 1 city block from: best of ny cinema nitehawk, best of ny cafe blue bottle, best of ny beer hall radagast, best of ny yoga kula, best of ny chocolate shop Mast Brothers, best of ny restaurant Parish Hall, a great bookstore, paperie, multiple used and new clothing and home furnishing stores, yelp favorite barber, as well as 24 hr drugstore, gym, grocery store, fancy food shop, three 24hr corner stores, hardware, vet, pediatrician, 5 restaurants 2 more cafes, and 3 more bars. Expand to 2 blocks and choices exponentially increase (egg, Maison Premiere, Bedford cheese, Roebling tea, fette sau, brooklyn waterfront with brookly flea, smorgasburg, ferry, and parks, etc.........).
The furthest reaches of Williamsburg (Diner/Marlowe to the south, Wyeth Hotel to the North) are both a short, equadistant 8 block walk. 4 blocks to bedford L subway--just one stop to manhattan's east village, and three stops to Union Square. 20 min door-to-door to MOMA, Wall Street, Lincoln Center, and most other Manhattan attractions.
This is our primary residence and we are renting it out to afford vacations of our own. It's our first time doing this, and we are looking for considerate guests who will treat the apartment like it belonged to their best friends (you know, the ones that charge you $250/n to stay at their place). You are free to use our stuff. But please no large parties, smoking, turning over the sofa cushion when you spill wine on it, licquor cabinet land grab, etc.. We're nice, laid back people, and you should be too. Dogs and babies welcome.
No smoking. Dogs ok, but no cats.
My only regret is that we were not able to meet our hosts in person. The apartment is not just spacious, light and airy, with really nice art work, it is comfortable -- and so clean. No clutter! The area of Brooklyn -- Williamsburg -- was quite fun and interesting with many shops, cafes, bars, all contributing to the "hipster" vibe.
We were a short subway ride to anywhere we wanted to go in Manhattan (the Metropolitan Museum? -- one short walk from the house, two quick rides, and we are there; the Highline? -- one quick ride on the L train).
I really cannot overstate how much we enjoyed the apartment. The beds were comfortable, the space was pleasant. Our hosts left everything we needed. I only hope to meet the interesting men behind this great home, perhaps one day . . . .
My stay at David and Sean's apartment was my first experience with airbnb and it was more than what I had wished for. The apartment is located a minute's walk away from EVERYTHING and anywhere you would imagine to go in the super trendy Williamsburg neighborhood. My friend and I were staying for Tribeca Film Festival, so we spent the majority of our time in the city but thanks to the awesome accessibility of the apartment we were able to explore Williamsburg quite a bit. Blue bottle coffee, Peter Luger steak and burger, Brunch at Egg, Drinks at multiple bars and beer gardens, Mast Brothers' chocolate, an excellent wine shop, drug store, grocery store, posh independent film theater, Japanese comfort food restaurant were all places we went to and were literally, 1 to 6 blocks away. The L train is a minutes walk away too.
Not only is the location killer, David is an awesome host. He carefully walked us through what was in the neighborhood, like the fact the L train would be out of commission on certain days of our stay and gave us tips on alternate transportation. He lended us his Moma card. Welcomed us to have food and drinks in the fridge and let us feel like we were really at home. Whenever we had a question about the neighborhood or the apartment he was quick to respond and very clear.
On top of the host and location being great, the apartment was absolutely gorgeous. The photos are accurate. The long nights in the city was definitely memorable but the short time we spent chilling in the living room was equally memorable. I could see how living in a beautiful and relaxing home like that relates to the kind demeanor David and Sean showed as hosts.
Thank you for making our stay in NY an awesome one. We'd love to come stay at your beautiful home again.
David and Sean are like the family you always want to visit - welcoming, all the comforts of home and the space to be yourself. It's a little piece of paradise in Brooklyn.
David and Sean are great hosts. Perfect apartment in a wonderful location. The only place I want to stay when in NYC.
This is such an incredible place. Incredibly welcoming and hospitable host. Comfortable and spacious apartment with such great amenities. Quick walk to the train station and plenty of great places cafes, shops, restaurants and such nearby. If you're looking for that great experience, this is the spot for you.
I stayed in David’s apartment for 2 weeks with my 21 y.o. son. It truly is an excellent apartment. Actually it’s more than an apartment, it’s obviously a much loved home and it was a pleasure to stay there.
Apart from being well-maintained and very clean, it is spacious, tastefully furnished and comes with all the facilities you need to feel at home.
You reach the apartment up 2 flights of easy stairs, and being on the top floor means you get lots of natural light and air. Another advantage to this is that there is little or no noise from neighbours which can often be a problem in NYC apartments situated on lower floors. You also have access to a very nice roof top area to relax and enjoy the open air.
The location is great, close to everything that Williamsburg has to offer (and that’s a lot!). I no longer stay in Manhattan when I go to NYC. I now stay in Williamsburg because it’s got so much going on and yet it has a relaxed feel to it ….. plus Manhattan is only one stop away on the subway.
The L line of the subway is a short walk away from the apartment and if you synchronise leaving the apartment with the arrival of the train you can get from the apartment to 14th St/Union Square in about 10 minutes.
It was so good to be able to make a snap decision to go into Manhattan for drinks or dinner and know that the East Village, Greenwich Village, West Village, Soho etc are so easily reached.
David was great to deal with, prompt with communication and helpful. Everything was well organised and as agreed.
Read the other reviews and you’ll see they echo my comments - great city, great apartment, great location, great host.
We had an incredible stay at Sean and David's home. The home is right in the center of Williamsburg, with tons of great food, cafes, a couple movie theaters, and easy access into the city! Sean and David were very accommodating and also helpful (with great communication). The apartment itself is huge by New York standards and beautifully decorated. There is loads of privacy and space, also very clean and minimal feeling. We appreciated them allowing our dog child. We hope to be back again one day! Thank you both!
