The Space

Come enjoy the Private Guest Suite in the barn at our small gentleman's farm along the RI coast. The guest suite is a cozy, clean, peaceful spot to spend the night. We are 15 minutes from Newport, 10 minutes from Narragansett, 10 minutes from Wickford, 20 minutes from the ferry to Block Island, 15 minutes from the Quonset Ferry to Martha's Vineyard (May-Oct).

The guest suite has a small sitting room, a bedroom, and a private bath. The bedroom has an antique iron and brass bed with a full size mattress. There is a full bathroom with a large shower stall. There are no kitchen facilities but we provide a small (dorm size) refrigerator with freezer, microwave, and coffee pot. There is no telephone but we do have good cell service and wireless internet in the barn. There is no TV. We provide fresh linens, bath towels, and even beach towels, 2 beach chairs, and 2 boogie boards. If you want to borrow a cooler, just let us know!

Our farm was built in 1941, during WWII, as a “model farm”. A couple of neighboring families were concerned about food shortages during the war and decided that it would be prudent to build a small farm behind their summer homes. We ended up with all ten of the original buildings including the barn, a large greenhouse, and the farmer’s cottage to which we have since added on. The barn where you will be staying was originally set up for cows, sheep and pigs at one end, with the office and a bathroom at the other end. It is currently occupied by four horses at one end, and the guest suite at the other end with a private entrance. (You may hear the horses moving around during the night but usually they are quiet and outside the barn in their paddocks.) The barn is a separate building that you can pull up to and park next to. It is across a large yard from our house. We also have a dog, a cat, a rabbit, and some chickens. Although we are not doing much “farming” at the moment, there is a wonderful Farmer’s Market just up the road every Saturday morning.

If you like peace and quite, and like farms, you will love this spot!
No smokers please. No pets allowed - we have plenty!

We are walking distance to a public bus stop and 15 minutes to trains at either the Kingston (AMTRAK) or Wickford (MBTA) station. We will gladly pick you up at the train or airport if we are available.

Guest Access

Our guests are welcome to explore our farm property but should not be entering any other buildings when not accompanied by us.

Interaction with Guests

As little or as much as you like! We live in a separate space but you can always reach us if you have a question or concern.

The Neighborhood

A short stroll down the dirt lane will take you into historic Saunderstown Village on the shores of Narragansett Bay. Saunderstown was originally home to the ferry (before the Jamestown Bridge was built in 1940) which took folks across to Jamestown. Those heading to Newport would then continue across Jamestown and board a ferry to Newport.

Getting Around

We are within 15 minutes of the Kingston Amtrak station and the Wickford MBTA station. There is a RIPTA bus stop right at the end of our road. Private taxis are available.

Other Things to Note

We have just added beach towels, 2 beach chairs and 2 boogie boards for our guests. Enjoy!

House Rules

We don't really have set rules. We just ask that you respect our property. Please do not smoke anywhere on the property. Do not use any candles, incense, etc in the guest suite. We ask that you park right next to the barn by the Adirondack chairs. Feel free to use the trash can and recycling containers on the side of the barn near where you park. Check out is by 11am - please call or text me when you are leaving so I know the room is empty and ready to be cleaned. Thanks and enjoy your stay!
