Beautiful location near Siena. Fantastic trattoria in nearby Santa Colomba. Staying amidst the olive groves with a view of Siena was great!
We certainly recommend this house: in forest and olive groves, view over the hills with Sienna in the background. The idea place for nature & culture holidays. Make sure you arrive before dark to drive over the country road. Letizia gave us a warm welcome.
A very beautiful, hidden and calm place in the countryside next to Siena. Letizia is a very kind and uncomplicated host. A good place to relax and join the beautiful tuscian nature.
The house is far away from everything, very difficult to find. The apartment is big enough for two people, with kitchen and bathroom. Be aware of plenty of spiders and mosquitoes. The house could be cleaner in this sense.
Oh yes Ana, the house is right in the countryside 5 km from Siena, and it is imperative to have the machine as described in the ad. The place is a must for lovers of the countryside where the flies and spiders are in their environment. Unfortunately, your car broke down, but I hope you enjoyed that I accompanied you to the station.
Letitia is a weary kind host and her house was nice and the surroundings beautiful. We have some problems with the road up to the house. It is a very narrow path with lots of holes.
What a find! Letizia's farmhouse is situated up a secluded dirt track close to Siena and within a 10/15 min drive to the centre. A car is a must. Our SatNav directed us pretty much all the way, but just keep going along the 'white road' until you reach her place. We spent a lovely few days relaxing on the front terrace in the mornings, taking in the surrounding splendor and aroma of olive and figs trees growing beside the house. It's ideally located to explore locals towns (San Gimignano etc) including the hot springs at Saturina (Therme di Saturina) which is a must!! Letizia is very welcoming and is more than happy to help with any questions and make your stay the best. I'd definitely consider staying again when I'm back in the area.
We loved our stay In the Country, 10 min from Siena! It was a beautiful country setting up a dirt road, very private, relaxed and beautiful. The kitchen was adequate for cooking simple dinners, the market was not far and we had fun shopping for food. Letizia had a map to the market for us and a map of Siena and outer areas. The apartment was roomy and unique. The bed is firm. We loved the view from the piazza and the olive trees and smell of salvia. We enjoyed sitting on the piazza for our dinners and breakfasts. It was nice to open both doors. We took day trips from the apartment each day to various destinations: Siena, Florence, Colle Val D'Elsa, Cortona, etc. We just didn't have enough time to see more. We did not get a data plan on our phones, so we only had printed directions in Italian from Letizia and our pocket earth map and we drove to within 3 km of the apartment. We stopped at the Pony Club and called Letizia and she was very kind to come to us and we followed her to the apartment. There is no wifi there, so we were able to really get away! We washed one load of clothes in her washing machine and they quickly dried in the Tuscan sun! Letizia was a very sweet and kind host, one day bringing us a plate of figs from her tree!
Beautiful house and garden!!! Just the perfect place to discover Toscana by car: greve in Chianti, Montepulcciano, San Gimignano.. Letizia'house is so welĺ located and quite, and she is a great host! She explained us the most important cities to visit.. The flat is really pretty.. Like a little loft! A place hard to leave!!! we regret to not stay longer here! Recommand it a lot!!!
Our apartment was lovely and well equipped. It was on ground floor of converted barn.....Letizia lives in the upper flat and was very helpful in answering our questions and finding information for us. She was very friendly and a great host. When we could not find the house on the first night and stayed in a hotel, she came personally to the hotel and showed us the way next morning, even though she was working part time. Once there we were able to find our way to and from the flat without problem, although the way was complicated.
The house was lovely and situated in the middle of olive groves with a great view accross the Tuscan countryside. When we stepped out in the morning, the first thing that struck us was the wonderful fragrance of herbs underfoot. We are both interested in wildlife and loved the variety of wildflowers and butterflies. There were also quite a few birds roundabout including green woodpeckers, which we do not see much at home (Scotland). There were also wild boars in the surrounding woods, but we did not see them during our visit.
For some people, the approach road ( a ' strada bianca' or unmetalled track) would seem rather rough in places, but once we had been up it and got used to the bumpy bits, it did not bother us as we grew up in the country.
This holiday apartment suited us really well and would be great for anyone who wants to have a holiday in the countryside but still have easy access to the delights of Siena. It felt really peaceful and secure. Many thanks Letizia for your hospitality.
Sandy & Anne Stuart.
