About this listing
Stay near everything cool in Austin including Barton Springs Pool. The Peaceful Haven is a spiritual retreat from your busy day or a crash pad at the end of the night. If location, peace, color, comfort and unique art matter you will love my space.
ACL-- There is a minimum stay of four nights during that time period.
WEEKENDS---I require a two night minimum stay on weekends but a one night stay is fine during the week. Requests for last minute (within24 hours) one night weekend stays will be considered. Please contact me before you request about that.
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GETTING. The entire space is shown in the photos. The space is about 300 SQ. FT. I have three cats that might want to join you in the space (up to you if you want to let them). Sadly they clearly are not happy with other animals on the property so...I'm sorry but NO PETS.
It is a very spiritual space that I like to call the Peaceful Haven. I am seeking very respectful, clean guests that will honor the energy of the space and totally respect the neighborhood and neighbors. Normally the space is used for my intuitive consulting and teaching. It's a quiet peaceful space and clearly not a place to party. Please don't even consider it. For this reason, I appreciate keeping it an alcohol free zone. The neighbors expect not to hear each other after 10pm so thank you for honoring them as well as the space. No smoking of anything anywhere on the property. If you choose to stay out late at night, please be very quiet upon re-entry.
SIX PEOPLE CAN SLEEP HERE. HOWEVER, IT WOULD BE VERY TIGHT AND A BIT UNCOMFORTABLE. I WOULD PROBABLY RECOMMEND ONLY FOUR. There are 3 double futons and if the 2 on the main floor are spread out it makes it difficult to move around with ease.
THERE IS STREET PARKING BUT I CAN ONLY ACCOMODATE TWO CARS.
My house is located less than a mile from Zilker Park. It is pretty much near anything you would want to do. I am renting the building in the back of my home which is where I work.
There are two futons on the floor, tons of pillows, and another double size futon in the loft. There is no typical bed with a mattress. Just futons. It looks exactly like the photos. It has a very small bathroom. The shower is so small it is difficult to bend over in (just being honest). This is exceptionally small for a lot of people but I have had many groups of 4 or more. I like to think of it as a welcoming, warm, crash pad.
My house was entered in the most colorful house in the world contest and everything about my house is artful. It is also on the Austin Yard Art Tour. There is plenty of fun art all over the place. The fence is an entire undersea mural. It truly is "Keeping Austin Weird".
Everyone that sleeps here says it is peaceful and quiet. This is a fantastic location in a colorful place but there are no other amenities besides a peaceful nights sleep.
The zip code of the rental is 78704 which you might know is close to SOCO and downtown. Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park are right down the street. There is a bus not too far away but I would always recommend a car to get around in Austin. Renting from me comes with free tourist advice. I have lived here since 1981 and really do know Austin.
I have three young cats. Boowee, Beauty, and Bonnie (all female). You can let them in the space with you or not. It is up to you. If you have pet allergies, you should be totally okay as we clean so well between guests there is no left over animal residue from the last one.
SXSW books in two blocks with five night minimum stays: Interactive stays must start on the 3/10. Music stays must start on 3/15 or 3/16.
ACL, SXSW, X-GAMES and F1 are $295 per night. There is a 4 night minimum for special events except for SXSW which is a 5 night minimum.
SLIGHTLY HIGHER RATE FOR FUN FUN FUN FEST.
Yes, there is a hot tub but there are "issues", so sadly it is not available.
The neighborhood is filled with homes from as early 1900's to modern remodels. All the homes on my street started as 1960's Ranch style. Today you never know what you will find next door or a block away. Regardless, we are truly a neighborhood that has real neighbors who know each other and walk, bike, drive the hood.
I always recommend a car in Austin. Parking is in front of my house on the street. The closest bus stop is 10 City blocks away. Airport cab is about $30 or the local public Airport flyer bus to Riverside and Congress. Taxi from that location is probably less that $10.00 or a long walk to bike rental 1/2 mile from my home. Here are some local resources.

This is not a party space and due to the courtesy of the neighbors we are no longer allowing alcoholic beverages on the property. No noise after 10 pm and if returning late please be quiet and respectful upon entry. No pets.
I recently booked a weekend stay in Austin and chose Lois' home as our head quarters.
Lois and her crew were so friendly and helpful in getting us settled.
We had privacy and yet she was available to us when we needed her.
Thank you Lois, you are a true gem!
Lois was very welcoming the moment we got there. She has a whole booklet giving you a list of things to do and places to eat if you've never been to Austin before. Before we parted ways with Lois she told us if we needed ANYTHING to just come knock on her door and she would be happy to help! The location of her home is so conveniently close to everything, making everything only a 10 minute drive! (unless you're going into downtown Austin) This is definitely where we will stay from now on in Austin.
Lois was genuinely kind and accommodating. We were unable to meet during check-in due to our itinerary, but Lois made sure that everything was arranged for our late arrival. We were able to meet briefly in the morning and Lois offered breakfast suggestions. Lois has also compiled a guest book full of information from her and prior guests. Her thoughtfulness and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of our stay. The property was exactly as advertised and everything we had hoped for - inspiring.
The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe.
Kids' note: The loft is very, very cool and safe, but you may not know you have a fear of heights...and climbing up is the easy part.
P.S. I forgot a small item at the property and Lois had already found it by the time I noticed and offered to mail it to me.
Lois' studio was awesome, fun, colorful, relaxing, and true to the pictures on AirBnB. My kids and I enjoyed the studio, the loft, the futons, and relaxed environment of the studio as well as the authentic Austin art and SoCo living. Lois was fantastic, sweet, and intuitive about our needs. I would certainly recommend this to any of my friends who wanted an authentic and well-located South Austin experience.
Lois is a sweet positive fresh breathe of air. Im always happy around her. When I enter through her large door and walk down the blue path all my worries go away and my mind and senses are busy absorbing all the beauty my eyes are seeing. I love the new backyard! The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. We travel back here every year with our daughter and enjoy the sights and sounds of Austin. Lois has watched our daughter grow up. She loves sleeping in the loft. With the new railing on the loft, I don't worry about her falling off now.
Lois was very welcoming and hospitable during our stay. She provided a list of restaurants to try and sights to see. We were extrmeley pleased with our stay. The home was fun and eclectic and the neighborhood is close to everything the city has to offer.
Louis was awesome, nice, and very accommodating for the short notice I gave her when needing to rent her space. Her space was in the best location of Austin and was very reasonably priced. It was also the most aesthetically interesting place to stay as well. Clean and quiet as well.
