Zilker Park, Fun, Funky, Peaceful

House - Entire home/apt · Dywer Ave, Austin, TX 78704, United States

Stay near everything cool in Austin including Barton Springs Pool. The Peaceful Haven is a spiritual retreat from your busy day or a crash pad at the end of the night. If location, peace, color, comfort and unique art matter you will love my space.

The Space

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GETTING. The entire space is shown in the photos. The space is about 300 SQ. FT. I have three cats that might want to join you in the space (up to you if you want to let them). Sadly they clearly are not happy with other animals on the property so...I'm sorry but NO PETS.

SIX PEOPLE CAN SLEEP HERE. HOWEVER, IT WOULD BE VERY TIGHT AND A BIT UNCOMFORTABLE. I WOULD PROBABLY RECOMMEND ONLY FOUR. There are 3 double futons but the space would have the two on the main floor so tight it would be hard to move around with ease.

I am requesting a two night minimum stay on weekends but a one night stay is fine during the week. Requests for last minute (within24 hours) one night weekend stays will be considered. Please ask.

My house is located less than a mile from Zilker Park. It is pretty much near anything you would want to do. I am renting the building in the back of my home which is where I work.

There are two futons on the floor, tons of pillows, and another double size futon in the loft. There is no typical bed with a mattress. Just futons. It looks exactly like the photos. It has a very small bathroom. The shower is so small it is difficult to bend over in (just being honest). This is exceptionally small for a lot of people but I have had many groups of 4 or more. I like to think of it as a welcoming, warm, crash pad.

It is a very spiritual space that I like to call the peaceful haven. I am seeking very respectful, clean guests that will honor the energy of the space. Normally the space is used for my intuitive consulting and teaching. It's a quiet peaceful space and clearly not a place to party. Please don't even consider it. The neighbors expect not to hear each other after 10pm so thank you for honoring them as well as the space. No smoking of anything anywhere on the property. Thank you in advance for honoring these requests.

My house was entered in the most colorful house in the world contest and everything about my house is artful. It is also on the Austin Yard Art Tour. There is plenty of fun art all over the place. The fence is an entire undersea mural. It truly is "Keeping Austin Weird".

Everyone that sleeps here says it is peaceful and quiet. This is a fantastic location in a colorful place but there are no other amenities besides a peaceful nights sleep.

The zip code of the rental is 78704 which you might know is close to SOCO and downtown. Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park are right down the street. There is a bus not too far away but I would always recommend a car to get around in Austin. Renting from me comes with free tourist advice. I have lived here since 1981 and really do know Austin.

I have three young cats. Boowee, Beauty, and Bunny (all female). You can let them in the space with you or not. It is up to you. If you have pet allergies, you should be totally okay as we clean so well between guests there is no left over animal residue from the last one.

ACL, SXSW, X-GAMES and F1 are $295 per night. There is a 4 night minimum for special events except for SXSW which is a 5 night minimum.

Yes, there is a hot tub but there are "issues", so sadly it is not available.

The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is filled with homes from as early 1900's to modern remodels. All the homes on my street started as 1960's Ranch style. Today you never know what you will find next door or a block away. Regardless, we are truly a neighborhood that has real neighbors who know each other and walk, bike, drive the hood.

Getting around

I always recommend a car in Austin. Parking is in front of my house on the street. The closest bus is about 1/2 mile away. Airport cab is about $30 or the local public Airport flyer bus to Riverside and Congress. Taxi from that location is probably less that $10.00 or a long walk to bike rental 1/2 mile from my home.

  • We had an INCREDIBLE 4th of July weekend staying at Zilker Park! The decor and ambiance is exactly as described "fun, funky, and peaceful" which was precisely what we were looking for in Austin. We had four people staying here and had plenty of room, the futons were very comfortable, and the entire place was extremely clean. Lois was an exceptional host and made sure we had everything we needed! Wi-fi worked great, plenty of towels, great water pressure, and a small fridge to stash your beers. I can't recommend this place enough.....

  • We had a BLAST in Austin and loved our stay at Lois's Fun, Funky, and Peaceful Zilker Park cottage!! The location is amazing and we were within a short distance of everything we had planned and wanted to explore while in Austin.

  • Lois' place is fantastic! It's such a cool place both inside and out and is in a fantastic location near downtown and amazing parks. Despite the fact she was out of town when we stayed, everything went off without a hitch and she's (email hidden) of Austin in the cottage. The decor is very cool and if you like art you will love it. Lois is doing her part to keep Austin weird :)

  • I didn't get a chance to meet Lois because she was out of town during my stay, but she was so helpful, communicative, and friendly over the phone! The space is lovely!! It is exactly as described, and the photos do not do it justice. I definitely intend to stay here again.

  • This was my second time staying at Lois' place and it was again an enjoyable experience. She is warm and friendly. Her place is a short walk from Zilker Park and she is a source of great information on where to go in Austin. Highly recommend booking with her.

  • Lois´ place is wonderful and she has been a perfect host.
Unfortunately we only had a day in austin – we wished we could have stayed longer and had more time to chat!

    Thank you Lois!

  • Lois was a wonderful, gracious host and her space was absolutely what I needed: a space to recharge and reflect. She also has some incredibly cute, friendly cats that were a joy to have around :) If you're looking for a relaxing space in a cute neighborhood, this is the place for you!
