Tadpole Cabin provides guests with a clean, cozy, comfortable space. On the main floor, you'll find a well-appointed eat-in kitchen, a work space, a living room with loveseat sleeper, and a flat screen TV with highspeed Wi-Fi. The cabin is very secluded, tucked into approximately 8 acres of a private wooded area. 5-minutes to downtown Old Fort, 15 minutes to Black Mountain, 30 minutes to Asheville, and 40 minutes to Lake Lure. AWD/4WD recommended.
The space
The main floor of the cabin features a well-appointed eat-in kitchen including refrigerator (with icemaker), electric glass-top stove/oven, and a microwave. There is a workspace near the entry. The cozy living room features a loveseat sleeper, a chair and ottoman, and a flat screen TV to stream music and entertainment with highspeed Wi-Fi connection. The bathroom includes a stacked washer and dryer and plenty of bathroom linen for your use.
The lofted bedroom features a king-size bed with a tempurpedic-like mattress. Other features include a Juliet balcony, chair and ottoman, luggage racks, and plenty of shelving. The cabin accommodates 2 adults but can sleep up to 3 by using the pull-out loveseat sleeper with a full-size mattress … perfect for the kiddos.
The cabin sits in the middle of approximately 8 acres of a private wooded area and is entirely yours to enjoy. It has a large deck, with a gas grill and outdoor seating. With the ductless HVAC system, you will be comfortable any time of year. There is also an attached fenced-in dog run and doghouse available for your pup.
Guest access
The cabin is accessed by driving up a long, steep gravel driveway which is best navigated with an AWD or 4WD vehicle. We have installed solar lights and reflective markers on the driveway to help guide you when it’s dark.
We have a trio of goats which live in a fenced-in area on our property. They live with our livestock guardian dog (a Great Pyrenees) who takes her job seriously. Expect to be greeted by her barking as you pass by the gate leading to the cabin. While your dog is welcome to roam in the dog run at the cabin, our dog is trained to protect her area and would see your dog as a threat, so it’s best to drive past her area without pausing.
The cabin is equipped with a keyless entry system. We live in another house located on the same property, so we are accessible for questions.
Other things to note
• Please be aware that access to the cabin requires climbing a series of stairs.
• Your dogs are welcome to join you in the cabin.
