Completely separate /private one bedroom Garden suite with lots of light and heated floors in a great neighbourhood!
We have been doing this Vacation Rental for almost five years now and love meeting people from all over the world as well as traveling ourselves.
We are located on a quiet street with beautiful heritage homes all around. It is a completely separate, private, whole self contained suite / apt. There are wonderful heated floors throughout and it's surrounded by a lush West coast garden and a real rustic flower bed just outside the front window.
The living Room has a large window making it very bright with a comfy sofa , but it's (not a sofa bed so it does not fold out or pull out into a bed) The suite is really for 2 people tops (couple) :)
The bedroom has a Queen bed and is just off the living room through the lovely french doors which have curtains inside if you want a bit more privacy. It's cozy with the heated floors and comes with linens, a full closet, umbrellas, iron & ironing board.
We are a 5 min. walk to the new upcoming East Village or Hastings Sunrise area, also on a bigger scale called Grandview Woodlands. People come from all over to go to Donald's Market which is only a 5 min walk away and has the best produce, and other regular & organic foods, and also has some yummy take out food. The Brighton is our local pub and we are very close to the Brewery District, home to Canadian Brewing Award winning Powell Street Craft Brewery and Parallel 49. The Red Wagon Cafe is right by Donald's and has become a real hotspot for breakfast. Bosa Italian Foods is a block away and they carry European specialties like cheese, meats, bread, pasta, sauces, olives and other delicious deli items. They will even make fresh sandwiches for you. The PNE is a 10-15 min. walk away and is Vancouver's amusement park. It has rides, food and concerts most of the Summer, and also has some beautiful ponds and walking trails. Templeton School is just around the corner and has a gym, pool, hot tub, outdoor track & tennis courts. Trout Lake a also a very nice park with walking trails and a community centre and about a 15 min. walk.
It's a 5 min walk to Commercial Drive. The drive is an eclectic, vibrant, and diverse mix of People and cultures. There you will find food, pubs, shopping, theatres, Gelato shops, and deli's.
The best coffee shops in Vancouver started by old Italian families, on Commercial Drive, like, Continental Coffee, Calabria, and a bunch of others. There is a new one close to the Suite called Flavio on Hastings which is really good.
We are 2 blocks from transit bus lines 16, 14 and 135 which will have you downtown in ten minutes to 15 mins. or to connect with the Skytrain stations. There is a direct connection to the airport from Waterfront Station.
The bedroom has a Queen bed and is just off the living room through the lovely french doors which have curtains inside if you want a bit more privacy. It's cozy with the heated floors and comes with linens, a full closet, umbrellas, iron & ironing board. We are also close to the Iron workers Memorial Bridge (or 2nd narrows) for access to the North Shore and it's majestic mountains. Also we are not too far from the freeway entrance that leads to the outskirts of the city.
We are 25 - 30 mins. from the airport (YVR) by car.
It's about 45 mins. in total with public transit.
There is also a security alarm system in suite to use if you want.
Sorry, there is no laundry in the suite, but there is a great little laundromat 2 blocks away

So many things I love about this neighbourhood! Great Cafes, Restaurants, Theatres, Craft Breweries, neighbours, community events, Local Farmers Markets, Craft Fairs, Thrift Stores, The PNE, A few blocks to the Ocean at New Brighton Beach, great parks, and the most eclectic mix of peoples and cultures!!!
Public transit is just 2 blocks away to jump on a bus downtown or hop on one the other way to go out of the city. Or you can walk 3 blocks to Commercial Drive and hop the bus to the Skytrain at Broadway and Commercial and connect to all the sky train lines. Lots of free street parking included in front of the hour. From the airport its easy to get to and from the suite, you have two choices. Great, cozy, and quiet little place. It was perfect for a weekend getaway. Diane was a great host and has a lot of info on good places to shop at and see in the area.
great suite!! great host!! great location!! quiet and impecably clean!
be sure to check out BOSA italian deli just a cpouple of blocks away!
Perfect place to stay in Vancouver...absolutely loved the apartment...had everything we needed and more...was great to be able to stay in and cook a decent meal...Diane was easy to communicate with and had a lot of information available in the apartment about Vancouver...
Diane was a great host and the apartment was just what I was looking for. I loved the clean, simple, modern style and the maps and guides of the city. Well stocked kitchen and bathroom; everything I needed and more. I look forward to staying there again sometime soon!
This is a gem of a suite! We loved our stay here—a very clean and beautifully designed space fully equipped and in a great up & coming Vancouver neighbourhood. Our host Diane was very friendly and knowledgable. We wouldn't hesitate to book here again or to recommend it to others.
Warm, clean, convenient and well priced! We had a great stay at Diane's in East Vancouver. Would book again without a second thought.
Our stay at the garden suite was great. It felt like a home away from home. The flat had everything we needed and was so cozy and comfortable. Diane was friendly and gave us all the right info and let us to it - exactly what we like! Ideal experience all around.
Diane was a lovely host, and the suite is a perfect place to stay in Vancouver.
Within minutes of arriving, Diane called down to our suite and made sure we had everything we needed and found the place OK. The location is within walking distance to TONS of great spots to eat on Commercial ave, close to public transport, and the immediate neighborhood itself is quiet and felt safe.
The suite has everything you could possibly need; tons of kitchen appliances, a comfortable couch and family room, and all the amenities you could need as far as toiletries/towels, etc. we felt totally set up and taken care of. we barely/rarely heard Diane or Paulus above us, and the suite is well heated.
the bedding was not our favorite (no top sheet, but plenty of blankets) ; I'm sure if we had said something to Diane, she would have taken care of it, but it wasn't really enough of an issue to impose for just a 2 night stay.
overall, this was an awesome spot to stay, and we are super thankful to have had a chance to spend some time there! thanks diane!!
Hey guys, Sorry, about the bedding. I purposely took off the cotton top sheet and have been using the Velveteen blanket / or fleece for the top sheet as I thought it would be a nice cozy treat for guests with the cold weather we were having. Our own bed is made like that with the velveteen blanket on top which we love, and sometimes the bottom one too. I just thought everyone else would like it too:( I would have changed it for you for sure if I knew. Thanks for letting me know though , I really appreciate your feedback. I have gone back to the cotton for my next guests as I now realize not everyone likes the soft, fuzzy sheets for the top one. Thanks for your nice comments and Happy travels. Maybe we'll see you next time. Happy travels:)
I had some free time, so I went to visit Vancouver, BC before heading home for the holidays. Diane's place is very classy, and they live in a cute neighborhood close next to the hip Commercial Drive & Hastings St. It's easy to take a bus downtown, or take a car. Diane gave us a recommendation to checkout Cypress Mountain's High View Lookout, and Lynn Canyon Park's suspension bridge. Both free, and both beautiful. Also, if you're visiting, make sure to go to Stanley park & Granville Island.
Diane's place was just as advertised. It is spacious, well-equiped and in a terrific neighbourhood. My wife and I were also impressed with how responsive Diane was to any questions we had, and to any problems that arose.
We were very pleased with our stay and hope to return.
