Completely separate /private one bedroom Garden suite with lots of light and heated floors in a great neighbourhood!
We have been doing this Vacation Rental for almost five years now and love meeting people from all over the world as well as traveling ourselves.
We are located on a quiet street with beautiful heritage homes all around. It is a completely separate, private, whole self contained suite / apt. There are wonderful heated floors throughout and it's surrounded by a lush garden and a rustic flower bed just outside the front window.
The living Room has a large window making it very bright with a comfy sofa , but it's (not a sofa bed so it does not fold out or pull out into a bed) The suite is really for 2 people tops (couple) :)
The bedroom has a Queen bed and is just off the living room through the lovely french doors which have curtains inside if you want a bit more privacy. It's cozy with the heated floors and comes with linens, a full closet, umbrellas, iron & ironing board.
We are a 5 min. walk to the new upcoming East Village or Hastings Sunrise area, also on a bigger scale called Grandview Woodlands. People come from all over to go to Donald's Market which is only a 5 min walk away and has the best produce, and other regular & organic / gluten free, and also has some yummy take out food. The Pallet Coffee roasters is just two blocks away and has awesome coffee and snacks. The Brighton is our local pub and we are very close to the Brewery District, home to Canadian Brewing Award winning Powell Street Craft Brewery and Parallel 49, and we even have a Growler for you to use in the suite:) The Red Wagon Cafe is right by Donald's and has become a real hotspot for breakfast. Bosa Italian Foods Delicatessen is a block away and they carry European specialties like cheese, meats, bread, pasta, sauces, olives and other delicious deli items. They will even make fresh sandwiches for you. The PNE is a 10-15 min. walk away and is Vancouver's amusement park. It has rides, food and concerts most of the Summer, and also has some beautiful ponds and walking trails. Templeton School is just around the corner and has a gym, pool, hot tub, outdoor track & tennis courts. Trout Lake a also a very nice park with walking trails, community centre and Farmers market every Saturday from May to Sept. and is about a 20 min. walk.
It's a 5 min walk to Commercial Drive. The Drive is an eclectic, vibrant, and diverse mix of People and cultures. There you will find food, pubs, shopping, theatres, Gelato shops, and deli's.
The best coffee shops in Vancouver started by old Italian families, on Commercial Drive, like, Continental Coffee, Calabria, and a bunch of others. There is a new one close to the Suite called Flavio on Hastings which is really good.

My husband and I live upstairs in the house and try to provide anything you might need to make your stay enjoyable. We both have a great knowledge of the Vancouver area and can recommend lots of great things to do, restaurants, etc. We want you to have a good time here. Have friends and family over for dinner if you like but we ask you be considerate about the noise as our neighbours have small kids. We just ask you respect the suite and treat it like you would your own home.
Diane's place in East Vancouver was a great place to stay. My husband and I had to check in before noon, and Diane was very accommodating of the request. The guest house had all the things we needed for a two-week stay. During my stay, I had to spend a few days at the Vancouver Convention Center. Initially, I was a little worried about transportation downtown, but I had no difficulty getting there and back. As long as you're okay with walking a bit (10-15 mins) to get to one of the several bus lines in the neighborhood, access to the downtown area is great. We also sometimes walked to the Skytrain station, which was a brisk, 30 min walk for us. The shops on Commercial Drive were great. Found a gem of a North Vietnamese restaurant on Hastings, which we went to a couple of times.
I am so sorry, I must have forgot to tell you that the major bus lines that go downtown and everywhere are only two blocks away ( 2 min. walk ). I thought I had left that info in the suite and had gone over all that with you. I feel bad you walked 10 to 15 mins. to get to a bus. Also you can walk three blocks to Commercial Drive and catch the #20 bus to the sky train, which would be just a few mins. walk to to the bus stop and then 5 to 10 mins. to the sky train station at Commercial and Broadway where you can transfer to a number of sky train lines. Glad you enjoyed your stay and if you come again I will definitely show you how close the bus is :) Take Care and Happy Travels.
We really enjoyed staying in Diane's Garden Suite. The suite had everything we needed and more. It was in a perfect location being close to lots of restaurants and cafes and also numerous supermarkets so we could cook for ourselves in the suites kitchen. There was always plenty of street parking for us to park in during our stay. Thank you so much for letting us stay. We would definitely stay again if we are back in Vancouver.
Diane's garden suite was perfect! Great location with buses into the city only 1 block away! it had everything we needed with lots of great coffee spots and places to eat just up the road! Would seriously recommend Tacofino commissary just 2 blocks up east hastings - super yummy!
thanks for letting us stay, we have definitely fallen in love with the city!
Diane and Paulus are amazing people. Diane was there to greet me even though I got in later than expected, and still took the time to show me everything about the accommodations. It felt like my own apartment, with plenty of info for me to get around the neighborhood, Diane even drove me to the Canucks game. Amazing. I'm very grateful to have met them and will be staying there the next time I come to Vancouver. Thanks Diane and Paulus!
This was my first Airbnb experience, and Diane made it so easy. She was very responsive to all my questions and the accommodations were everything I wanted, clean, quiet, convenient and cozy.
Diane thought of everything! She's a great host and I had a wonderful stay in the apartment. She offered maps and info on local stuff, and was very accommodating. I recommend the host and the place 100%.
Thank you, Diane!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with Diane. I would recommend it to all my friends. It was private and safe, and lots of parking! Thanks for your hospitality Diane. See you in the spring.
We are an outgoing 50ish couple who are outgoing and easy going. I have lived in the Vancouver area all my life. We drove across Canada to Newfoundland in 2005 and back through the States and there was something about every province and state that I liked, but I don't think I'd live anywhere else but Vancouver. We both love to travel and meet new people. We have been to Europe a few times but there are still a lot of places we'd like to see and have stayed at some Airbnb's ourselves. We have been doing a Vacation Rental in our beautiful heritage house for over five years now and still love it. I have owned this house over 24 years and it's the best neighbourhood in Vancouver in my opinion. The location, community, eclectic mix of people and cultures make it a fantastic worldwide destination.
