Bird/Mammal/Treehouse tower in a 6-acre paradise in the Cloud Forest. The perfect way to immerse yourself in this diverse area. Every nature, bird and photographer lover's dream. Located 3km out of the village of Mindo along the famous birdwatching trail, 5 minutes walking distance from Ziplines, 25 minutes from the waterfalls/cable car. Renovated in early 2025 for extra comfort.

The space
This is a truly unique place; the only birdwatching tower in the Mindo area. The tower is set over 4 floors offering a 360-degree view on every floor. The flora and fauna can be witnessed at every level of the cloud forest and the tower ensures you get to see everything. Whether you are preparing meals and being distracted by the hummingbirds flashing past or waking up in the bedroom to the sight of a family of parrots flying over or enjoying a beer in the observation floor whilst the Kinkajous visit the feeding platforms! Every floor offers something different. The Bird Tower is located on a 6-acre property that is secondary cloud forest. There are trails all around the property and we provide rubber boots of all sizes. The first two floors were gradually renovated during 2024 and early 2025 to fix the structural issues that inevitably came up. To increase comfort for guests, the kitchen area more than doubled and became mosquito proof during this renovation. Come and connect with nature and be truly immersed in the cloud forest.

Guest access
As a nature lover, I love nothing more than seeing guests enjoy the property. Please treat the tower and the trails as your own and enjoy! The tower has now been upgraded to have Wi-Fi internet throughout. A spotting scope and local wildlife books are available for use whilst staying at the tower.

Other things to note
The Bird Tower is isolated in the forest on the property creating an extremely private experience for guests. There is a guided night walk every night that is open to the public. Guests staying at the tower may join this walk for free if we have available spots; please inquire to reserve your spots. Private tours are $40 onsite for a 1-2 hour tour or $80 offsite for a longer tour. Breakfast can either be served at any time of your choosing, or food can be provided for you to prepare your own breakfast on your own schedule. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please inform me ahead of time.

Where you’ll be

Mindo, Pichincha, Ecuador

The Bird Tower is located 3 kilometers outside the village of Mindo. The exact location is on the main birdwatching trail that all "twitchers" visit with the guides as the bird activity in our neighbourhood is the best in Ecuador. 5 minutes walking distance to the ziplines and 25 minutes to the waterfalls. The walk into the village of Mindo is a beautiful walk taking approx 45 minutes and a taxi ride back to the tower with your groceries is only $4 making everything feel very accessible. The tranquility of this neighbourhood is remarkable, with no permanent neighbours around, you can wake up every morning to the sound of birds and fall asleep to the sound of frogs.

Lives in Pichincha, Ecuador
I moved to Ecuador from Canada because of the incredible biodiversity in this beautiful country. I'm living in Mindo in the Choco/Andes transition zone and the climate is perfect here. My passion lies with nocturnal creatures so I also offer guided night walks on the property every night. I would love to have you stay! Usually I'm in Mindo but I sometimes travel to other parts of Ecuador to see other species of animals in the wild.
