ABOUT ME

I started hosting because I wanted people to have an opportunity to visit our small town and have visitors live like a local. To have local experiences I have a list of places to visit and local art showcased in the home. When you walk into the house, I hope that you get a sense of tranquility and welcomeness. In my spare time, I love to work out, travel, enjoy a good beer or two from local breweries, visit friends and spend time with my mini-Australian Shepherd John Cash.

ABOUT THE SPACE

The house has a main level and a basement. It has three (3) bedrooms, two (2) bathrooms, and a full kitchen with appliances. It can accommodate up to six (6) guests. It is tucked away at the top of our family hill. It has a massive front yard that is partially fenced in so you can let your pets or children out to play and enough parking in the front for five (5) vehicles. There is a fire pit located in the front yard, free Wi-Fi, Dish Network, and popular streaming services such as Netflix, HULU, and Disney+. You will have to use your own accounts when logging into the streaming services. My goal with this house when remodeling was to have guests experience a pleasant and satisfying vibe. The light and airy ambiance of the house was intentional because I want you as guests to feel at peace and relaxed. I also tied in colors that represent our mountains and the scenery around us. The living room has a dark green accent wall and the back bedrooms are a light green to represent the foliage around us. The master bedroom has a dark blue wall because where we live our mountains sometimes have a hue of blue, hence the name the Blue Ridge Mountains. This spot is conveniently located right above the Food Lion shopping center, two to three (2-3) minutes from Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort, two to three (2-3) minutes from downtown Cherokee, twelve to fifteen (12-15) minutes from Bryson City, fifteen to twenty (15-20) minutes from Sylva, thirty-five to forty (35-40) minutes from Waynesville, and one (1) hour from Asheville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

There are eight (8) communities within the Qualla Boundary and we live in the Paint Town (Cherokee name - Ani Wodiyi) community. The majority of the people that live on this hill are family and the area is safe. If you are interested in authentic Cherokee crafts then I recommend that you stop by Medicine Man, Qualla Arts & Crafts, The Queen House Gallery, Talking Leaves, and Museum of the Cherokee Indians. There are some local restaurants that are worth checking out as well. These include Native Brews, Wize Guys, Newfoundland Lodge, Peter's Pancakes, Paul’s Diner, and Granny’s Kitchen. There are restaurants in the casino such as Brio’s Tuscan Grille, Guy Fieri, and Gordon Ramsey Market. We have a couple of coffee shops in town too. There is Qualla Java, Grounded Coffee and Food, and Starbucks in The Cherokee hotel. When people come to visit Cherokee they enjoy going to the casino, mountain biking on Fire Mountain trail, exploring downtown Cherokee with all the various shops, and going fishing and swimming at the Island Park. We are only 20 minutes from the NOC (Nantahala Outdoor Center) which is where people can eat, kayak, and do other various activities. Short distances from the house there are plenty of rivers to fish and go tubing down. There are amazing trails you can hike to view waterfalls, such as Mingo Falls, and views of these ancient mountains. We are considered the gateway to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway, the drive to them is less than ten (10) minutes.

INTERACTIONS WITH GUESTS

I will not be there to greet you, but I am willing to come up and say hi and answer any questions that you may have. There is a keyless door knob with a code to get into the house. The best way to reach me is through messaging in the Airbnb app.

GETTING AROUND

Guests can get to the house by car or whatever vehicle you drive. The road is fairly windy and steep, but 4-wheel drive is not necessary unless it snows. Guests have plenty of free parking space at the home.
