The space
This bright and clean one bedroom/one bath apartment offers a serene location, with windows overlooking a forest, full kitchen, in-unit laundry, central heating and A/C, its own deck with a gas BBQ and a fully equipped kitchen. This is the lower unit of a duplex rental property.
Centrally located to the main tourist destinations in the park: Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias -- each of these are about a 25-35 minute drive.
Additional Amenities: freshly laundered linen, gas BBQ, full kitchen (oil, salt/pepper, basic spices, ground coffee is provided for the drip coffee maker and a coffee grinder is available for you to bring your favorite whole beans), hair dryer, shampoo and bath soaps.
There is minimal cell phone reception in this area or most of the park.
Smart TV and DVD player.
INTERNET: Satellite WiFi is high speed and overwhelmingly reliable but still may experience occasional outages. Not recommended for work
STAIRS: The treetop views are made possible by climbing 38 stairs from the street level. The unit is located on the mid-level floor of this duplex, below the Sunset House unit.
Parking: free paved parking spot for one car.
The Red Door apartment is the smaller, independent guest unit located on the mid-level floor of the Yosemite Sunset House duplex property, below our other unit located on the top floor. Guests may hear foot steps and other occupancy sounds coming from the vacation unit above -- soundproofing is in place but sounds still travel.
The apartment comfortably sleeps one couple.
This property is not child-proofed so constant adult supervision is a must.
Our location is in the natural environment of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The following native fauna may be present around the home: bears, flies, ants, spiders, mice, squirrels, chipmunks, deer, hawks and other local animals.

Winter: Closest lodging to the Badger Pass Ski Area (7 miles away) on Glacier Point Road.
Yosemite Valley Village = 17 miles (to the furthest point)
-visitor center, waterfalls, restaurants, food kiosks, Yosemite museum, art gallery, bookstore, theater, grocery store, art center, and more
Glacier Point = 17 miles - spectacular vistas, unobstructed view 3,214 feet down to Yosemite Valley.
Wawona = 14 miles --golf, restaurant, pioneer history center, convenience store and gas station
Mariposa Grove of Giant Redwoods = 20 miles -- 500 BIG trees. Highly recommended
Curry Village = 17 miles --restaurant, pizza deck, bicycle rentals, ice rink, and more
Badger Pass Ski Area = 7 miles -- skiing, cross-country skiing, ski lessons
Tuolumne Meadows and Tioga Road= 65 miles (1.5 hrs drive) --high country ... scenic drive up to almost 10,000 ft elevation

There is a larger vacation unit with a separate entry located on the top floor of this property, occupancy sounds coming from the Sunset House can be heard by guests staying in the Red Door Apt.
QUIET HOURS: 10pm-7am
-Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 25 years old to be the primary renter
-Residential neighborhood: Restaurants, grocery stores, health care, etc. are located 30+ minutes from this property
-Satellite internet, service may be limited at times and streaming or video calls may be intermittent. (If you need a more robust connection, you will need to stay in a hotel or in a different region)
-There is no reliable cell phone service in this area or at our home.
-Smart TV and dvd player (no cable TV)
-This property is not child-proofed, constant adult supervision is a must
-No weddings, parties, video crews or events
-Hosts are not responsible for any occurrences beyond their control such as illness, airline cancellations, power outages, weather, snow, smoke from wildfires, acts of God, etc. Travel insurance recommended.
WINTER notes: if snow is present or it's in the forecast, the park may require tire chains to be available in the vehicle and drivers should know how to use them (note that rented cars do not come with tire chains); also a 4-WD vehicle is recommended.
