Other Things to Note
The staircase leading up to the apartment is narrow and old -- this is a very old building, so perhaps unsuitable for those with difficulty walking or climbing up stairs.
This is a small flat in a very old building that we also use when the two of us and our infant daughter come to Paris. We ask that you treat the flat as if it were your own place, and leave it reasonably tidy when you leave. No smoking or pets. Please remember to double lock the door when you step out.
This was an amazing place to stay, it was within walking distance of many touristy sites, restaurants, ice cream, bakeries and grocery stores. The apartment is on the smaller size but wasn't anything I didn't expect from reading the description, be prepared though there is one shelf and one closet to put you clothes away in. They were super wonderful dealing with my getting confused and delayed at the airport. I was much later than I intended to be and they were super wonderful even though I felt very bad about it. I would definitely recommend this apartment to stay in.
We were very happy with our time here! The apartment is in an amazing location - the Ile de Saint Louis is right in the heart of the city and has easy Metro access but is nice and quiet. The apartment was cozy and clean and Borzou was a wonderfully accommodating host.
The Ile de Saint Louis is one of the best areas in Paris. Accesible ,easy to move around. The metro station is so close and so is the Velib bicycle system which helps you explore Paris in a relax and fun way. The house is a perfect size for vacationing. It has wifi, washer, a small restroom , tv service and a lot of guides so you can decide what to do in your stay. I totally recommend staying in this adorable place. You can take walks next to the Seine, or just sit down and listen to people play some music. Notre Dame is in the next Ile, so you basically see it every day you walk around. Wonderful Place, you'll feel at home. Paris is an experince that would change your life.
We were an hour late getting from the airport because of long taxi lines, but our host Elaheh was there waiting for us when we arrived. She was very helpful showing us around the place and telling us the best ways to get groceries and get to the metro.
The place has everything you would need (kitchen, wifi, local phone calls) and the location was great! It is a quieter part of town, which is nice for relaxing after a long day out. Easy to get to the metro, but also walking distance to a number of places. It is a small studio with a pull out couch, but the location and charm definitely make up for it. I'd stay here over a hotel any day.
Nice apartment, excellent location. Super value. Elaheh, the caretaker, was very kind and accommodating. Clean and comfortable, if small. One thing: the apartment is a touch shabbier than the photos.
Our stay in Paris was made even more enjoyable because of Borzou's ideally-situated apartment located in the center of the Ile St. Louis.
We enjoyed meeting our helpful and gracious host, Elaheh, upon our arrival, and quickly ventured out to explore. Everything you need and so many beautiful sights are only a quick walk away. Le Marais and Le Village Saint Paul, Notre Dame and the Ile de la Cite, the lovely Tino-Rossi sculpture garden and Le Jardins des Plantes were a few of our favorites (among many!). The Metro is also nearby -- just a short walk across the bridge.
The best part about the experience of staying at Borzou's apartment was that each morning we could pick up fresh croissants at the nearby boulangerie, brew coffee in the kitchen, and plan our day -- often making use of the nice collection of guides that are available in the apartment. Later in the day, we would purchase cheese, bread, and wine for a picnic on the quai of the Seine. The shops are only steps from the door, and it was wonderful to become familiar with the shop-owners. For a little while, at least, we felt that we were real residents, and it enriched our experience.
The apartment had everything we needed; it was quiet, clean, and located in one of the most interesting parts of Paris. We walked many miles throughout the city during our stay, and at the end of each day, it was a pleasure to come "home" to the apartment on the Ile St. Louis.
The host made us feel very welcome, carefully demonstrating everything we needed to know about the apartment, making sure we could connect to Wifi properly, and showing us on a large-scale map the best grocery store. There was also a carefully prepared book of local sights, restaurants, etc. She assured us that she would be available for anything else we might need, but then left us to enjoy our week as we liked.
About the Host, Borzou
We are both journalists based in the Middle East, and spend a lot of time traveling for work, so we understand what people need when they're away from home. Delphine is Parisian -- her aunt helps us rent out the apartment. We both love Paris and try to make it easy for people to come and visit the city.
