PRIME APARTMENT IN IPANEMA BEACH

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Rua Gomes Carneiro, Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro 22071-110, Brazil

The Space

It's a one bedroom apartment in an apart-hotel in Ipanema close to the beach and also the metro station.

The rent includes 1cable tv (in the bed roon),1 DVD tv ( in the living roon with hundred of DVDs movies and series to choose), wireless internet, equiped kitchen, cleaning service every days( without extra charges), swimming pool, sauna as in a real hotel with the advantage and all facilities that an apartment can offer. There is also parking in the building for those coming by car (without extra charges).

The apartment has view to the "Dois Irmãos" mountain and is silent cause the view is to the inside area and not to the street and its busy bus traffic.

Ipanema is adjacent to Copacabana Beach, but it is distinct from its neighbor. It is relatively easy to navigate because the streets are aligned in a grid.

Private infrastructure has created world-class restaurants, shops, and cafes. Ipanema is one of the most expensive places to live in Rio. At the forefront of the beach culture are the many surfers and sun worshippers who socialize daily at the beach.

Every Sunday, the roadway closest to the beach is closed to motor vehicles and local residents and tourists use the opportunity to ride bikes, roller skate, skateboard, and walk along the ocean.

  • Overall, a very pleasant experience. Very nice apartment in a great location, minutes away from either Copacabana or Ipanema. Daily cleaning service provided, one just had to leave the key at the reception in order for the ladies to have access to the apartment. They even washed my dirty dishes!
The building is a sort of a hybrid, condo/hotel, thus the maid service; of course, as is the case with most of Rio, English is not wildly spoken, so, as nice as the reception staff were, the communication was difficult, particularly when it came to securing airport transportation very early in the morning on the day if my departure. Guess, ultimately it was my fault for not speaking the native language.
One issue, however, was the daily frustration with the shower operation. Either the small gas water heater was malfunctioning, which would certainly dispel the myth of German excellence in engineering (Bosch), or the problem was the pipe connection, but it was impossible to maintain a constant temperature of the water. The temperature would become steaming hot and if you turned on cold water that seemed to turn the gas off, so, you'd get shocked by a blast of cold water. So, you need to turn the hot water off and then turn it on, when you would hear the gas ignite and then carefully wait for the water to warm up, and then you would have about 8 secs of optimal temp before the cycle would begin again. It was a ritual of mostly tinkering with the knobs, outside the shower, and quick moments under it. It was not a disaster of major proportions, given Rio's tropical climate, but it was annoying enough and Charles should fix it as soon as possible.
Finally, the deal breaker for me for choosing the place was the Nespresso machine in the apartment (Charles even provided the pods) so, no coffee withdrawal issues to deal with and I could focus my full attention on enjoying the city..

  • Great location, easy check-in, spacious, well-lit apartment. Would definitely stay there again! There is a great stash of travel books and movies, if you get tired of some of the most beautiful beaches and people outside :)

About
Hi, my name is Charles and I am teacher and researcher of International Politcs in Rio de Janeiro. I m also a big traveler and I always prefer to rent somebody's flat instead of aseptic hotels even when traveling for short periods or for work. I think this choice makes your trip more pleasant. Since traveling is a pleasure for me I think I can be a good host too!
