Escape North to Saltbox by the Bay. Explore the many local amenities without sacrificing the comforts of home, and maybe even a few more...

The charm of this original vintage cabin has been lovingly restored & updated with coastal undertones and modern conveniences. The small but spacious cottage makes the most of 600 sq. ft. with simple luxuries and comfort in mind. Play a curated selection of records and boardgames or read your favourite book by the gas fireplace. Cook gourmet meals in the chef-style kitchen, with stainless steel appliances & gas stove. Pamper yourself in the spa-like shower. Nap away in one of the cozy queen beds.

Whether on holiday, staying as your writer's retreat or working remotely, high-speed internet will keep you connected, while the surroundings keep you entertained & disconnected, as you need.

The cabin is located in a mixed neighbourhood of cottages & residential homes. Our tiny cottage is bayside, on a cul-de-sac of a short country road.

Indoors:
• Nature views of the marsh & bay
• Open-concept kitchen, living, dining space surrounded by windows towards the bay
• Indoor gas fireplace accessible fall to spring.
• Cook's kitchen incl. toaster, microwave, espresso machine, French coffee press, chef's knives & dishwasher
• Cozy bedroom with queen-sized bed
• The sleeping loft is accessed by a ladder, to the top of the cabin. The space is maximized for comfort with a second, queen-sized bed.
• Newly renovated bathroom with extra large, walk-in shower
• Mudroom with room for storage, luggage, skis and/or snowboards
• Fresh linens and towels supplied. Bring your own beach towels.
• Wifi is strong and as fast as Toronto speeds.
• Widescreen TV with YouTube and limited channels. Watch dvd's or Chromecast from your personal accounts.
• Audio-Technica record player with a curated collection of classic albums
• An Amazon Echo (Alexa) can operate many of the switches, if you want to remain hands-free or not get up off the comfy couch

Outdoors:
• Oversized deck with bbq, picnic table & bayview seating
• The picnic table doubles as an outdoor, gas fire table. Available year round, weather permitting.
• Oversized lawn, perfect for a game of horseshoes
• Exploring favourites: snowshoes (in winter) & bikes (the rest of the year) available for guests
• Beautiful sunsets. And the marsh is the perfect habitat for bird watching.
• Across the road is a private-access park by the bay, with picnic tables, a covered gazebo & kids' playground for neighbours & guests.
• The new storage bunkie keeps our bikes accessible & dry indoors plus has additional parking available for guest bikes.

Here are just a few of the nearby, 4-season amenities:
• Visit Quayle's Brewery for lunch, tours, events & live music
• Vetta Nordic Spa is a guest favourite
• On the next block is an access point to the Tay Shore Trail: a 18.5 km paved pedestrian road along the bay. Treed canopies & waterfront views are ideal for a stroll, bike ride or rollerblade. Accessible year-round, bring your bicycles/cross-country skis or borrow one of our bikes/snowshoes for an excursion (note that the trail is not maintained in winter). Bike to Victoria Harbour to the small, local beach or lunch by the marina and beyond.
• Charming towns, restaurants, cafes, beaches & lakes to explore - Coldwater, Midland, Victoria Harbour, Penetanguishene, Balm Beach & Port Severn are all just 5 to 20 min away
• Tour the boardwalks & observation deck at Wye Marsh. Extend your day of exploring with a hike, canoe, kayak, snowshoe or cross-country ski though this 3,000 acre wildlife centre.
• Ride the nearby snowmobile trails. A gas station around the corner makes it easy to fuel up.
• Horseback ride on scenic trails
• Across the road, the water entry at the bay is thick with silt & reeds, so not accessible for swimming but there are local beaches nearby. The closest is a 7 min drive (or 8 min bike ride) to the Waubaushene Beaches, for views at the look-out point or a summer swim.
• Ski, snowboard & winter activities at Mount St. Louis or Horseshoe Valley, 2 of the best hills in Ontario, just minutes away.

• Being across the bay, water may pool after heavy rainfalls & in the wet seasons (spring/fall). The deck stays dry but we recommend bringing rubber boots if planning to enjoy the yard & park during those times.
• We have a no pet policy. We appreciate that there are many great pets but we don't make exceptions. Thank you for understanding.
