Charming cottage, decorated in an cozy lodge style, located just off Main Street in the beautiful little historic town of Ft. Jones. Located next door to The Trading Post, a small cafe with great espresso, fresh baked goodies & gourmet sandwiches, & within walking distance of fabulous museum, tavern & restaurants, art gallery, bank, post office, library, etc.. Full kitchen, free parking & wifi. Pet friendly. Enjoy scenic outdoor pursuits locally, such as hiking, fishing, cycling & more!

The space
This is a complete unit, solely for your use. You'll walk up three steps on to a small deck to reach the front door. One the main level, there is a bedroom with queen bed, a full bathroom, and a kitchen/dining/living room area. You've got a full kitchen with basic pots/pans/dishes. Extra linens/towels available and essential toiletries included. There's a small nook under the stairs where a cozy dog bed awaits small dogs. Little Elk Lodge also has an upstairs loft. There's a short narrow staircase (about 6-7 steps) and then there is a loft with two more beds. The loft ceiling is low so it's a space for sleeping and for kids to hang out. There's a railing on the loft edge looking down over the living room. There's also a small patio outdoors with wood privacy fencing on two sides, several tables and outdoor chairs, as well as seating on the deck. The lodge is located on the same property as The Trading Post Coffee, Deli and Country Store, and our California Outdoor Properties real estate branch office, but it's located behind the other buildings, in a quiet little corner. There is no fully fenced yard, so we'd recommend any dogs be on a leash outside of the home.

Guest access
The lodge is in the tiny historic town of Fort Jones and is located behind The Trading Post Coffee, Deli and Country Store and California Outdoor Properties Real Estate. The lodge has its own parking area, next to the deck, and there is also free public parking in the area. You can walk to the coffee shop, other restaurants including the well known Five Mary's Burgerhouse (also a tavern and offers live music on many Friday and Saturday nights). There is a bank, small hardware store, local artist's gallery, grocery store, auto parts shop, etc, for basic necessities. The best part of being in Scott Valley is the amazing year round scenic views. We're at the edge of the Klamath National Forest and Marble Mountain Wilderness. Whether you're a day hiker and explorer or a serious backpacker, a wide variety of trails and opportunities exist within a short drive. The views are amazing for nature photographers or those looking for wildlife.

Other things to note
This community is an agricultural based community, with many local ranches. There are some great scenic drives around and a number of the local restaurants serve meat and other products grown and produced locally. A fun twenty minute drive away, you can visit local distillery and gourmet restaurant, Denny Bar Company in Etna (try their whiskeys, gin, chocolate vodka) or the nostalgic Callahan Emporium, a half hour drive, which has been in operations since the 1800's in the gold rush community of Callahan - this little bar also serves a great steak and baked potato dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. The always popular Five Mary's Burgerhouse is just across the street and Five Mary's Farm is just a couple miles down the road. There are several fun local rodeos, music festival and events to time a visit with. In the spring, a visit to the California Peony Company's flower fields is not to be missed and in the fall, stop by "the Pumpkin Wagon" just a short distance out of Fort Jones on Eastside Road. If you're looking for a quiet place to just relax, come explore Scott Valley!

Neighborhood highlights

Fort Jones is a small historic town of around 700 people, located in far northern California, in Siskiyou County. The town offers a quiet charm with several places to eat, a great museum, local tavern, burgerhouse, art gallery and hardware store across the street and is very picturesque with a wide main street and several brick buildings from the 1800's, including the Marble Grounds Coffee, Deli and General Store on the same premises as Little Elk Lodge. Fort Jones is a great base location to explore the Klamath National Forest, Marble Mountain Wilderness, Russian Wilderness and more. There are many opportunities for hiking, trout fishing, biking, photography and enjoying the scenic beauty of Scott Valley and the surrounding mountains.

My work: Realtor

I'm Amy. I grew up here in Scott Valley and love this beautiful agriculture community and mountain area. Together, Kathy, my mom, and I, have a real estate office on the same property as Little Elk Lodge. We both love animals, especially horses, and grew up on cattle ranches. We work together as a real estate team. We get to meet a wide variety of people from all over, one of the fun things about being realtors. One of the things we appreciate about Fort Jones and the surrounding area is the great sense of community and all of the wide open outdoor areas to enjoy hiking, fishing, riding and more.!
