Comfy bed for better sleep

The room-darkening shades and extra bedding are loved by guests.
Our yurt sits on the edge of a wild woods overlooking a clearing that is an active forest restoration project currently in process on the banks of the Cloquet River. Take a quiet stroll or snowshoe through the woods, fish, swim, view wildlife, or take some valuable time for stillness and contemplation. Hang a hammock in the trees, relax, listen to the birds and watch the river go by.

The space
Enjoy your rustic experience! Our yurt is heated solely by a wood stove with no electricity or running water. Firewood is provided as well as instruction on building the best fire and use of the stove if needed. Drinking and washing water are provided and can be refilled on site. Solar lights, battery and candle camp lanterns are included, as is a rapid phone charger if needed. The yurt contains one queen bed, a single camp cot upon request, a propane cook stove/oven and an outfitted camp kitchen with wash tub. A campfire pit with an over-the-fire grill are located just outside. Bring your own cooler for food storage as there is no refrigeration. The outhouse and firewood storage are located a 1.5 minute walk from the yurt and a Luggable Loo porta-potty is available to bring to the yurt at night if walking to the outhouse sounds unpleasant for any reason. Two sets of snowshoes are available for use in the winter, two kayaks, a canoe, and inner tubes for floating are available in the spring, summer and fall. In the spring, high water levels may create conditions that make it unsafe to be on the river. Please inquire about this when booking during this time.
What you’ll see around the yurt is the first stage in our forest restoration project. It’s an exciting time on the land - regrowth has begun! Branches and limbs that had been scattered on the ground intentionally are breaking down to provide the necessary organic material to feed new plants. Spring now gives way to a blanket of wildflowers and tree seedlings! Soon there will be a large-scale re-planting to include a wide variety of native trees and plants, blueberries, fruit trees, and medicinal plants, eventually transforming the land into a thriving food forest. The landscape will be changing all the time. Visit regularly and be part of the transformation!
For your ease and comfort till regrowth has been established, wood chip paths have been laid through the project section that will lead you to the woods, trails, and river - easy on the feet and mud-free.

Guest access
Guests have full access to the trails, woods, and river. Paths have been established to access these areas without having to pass by the main house where we’d like to maintain some privacy. There is also a boat landing with dock to launch kayaks, the canoe and inner tubes.

Other things to note
Pets are welcome in the yurt. There is a one time pet fee of $40 that covers up to two pets for your entire stay. Dogs can be off leash when at the yurt and when walking on the trails - if they won't wander toward the house. If your dog(s) chase(s) cats, I ask that they're on leash when near the house.
