The coolest neighborhood in Portland. Williams and Mississippi Aves. are chocked full of award winning restaurants and indie shops & boutiques.
It has the quintessential Portlandia vibe that Portland is known for and loved.

The Farm was a perfect place to stay while I was in town for a friend's wedding. The place itself is comfortable and large -- great kitchen, comfy bed. The yard is especially beautiful, very Secret Garden. I didn't have a chance to meet Janie and Ginnie (they were out of town) but it was easy to locate and get into the space. The Farm is perfectly situated, a short walk from my favorite local grocery store, New Seasons, as well as some wonderful restaurants and cafes. I'd recommend this spot to anybody.
We had a terrific time in Portland. The place is wonderful. We will have to come back and spend more time there. We thoroughly enjoyed the garden - the weather was hot when we got there and we enjoyed sitting outside in the cool of the evening. The house is located well.
We had a great experience with this stay. The apartment was clean and comfortable. It really felt like we were coming home. The space was so private! You can relax, put your feet up, watch some Netflix, and take it easy after a long day of having fun in Portland.
Janie and Ginnie were great about having ideas for things to do, based on your interests. There were tons of magazines and menus from their favorite places. It was also great to have the kitchen. We ended up cooking dinner and breakfast a few mornings.
Having the Mississippi/Williams areas close was also a plus. Great areas for food, drink, and doing a little shopping. It really is just a couple blocks to the bus stop, which can get you downtown.
Ultimately, we had a really nice stay here, and hope to use the apartment next time we go to Portland. Which hopefully is soon, we fell in love with it!!
Not like they need another raving review, but our stay with Janie and Ginnie was fantastic. Very spacious, clean and private. Everything you would ever need in the kitchen. Just wish we could have stayed longer! I don't know if it just happened to be while we were there, but the wifi was very weak and we were not able to use it. Besides that, it was great!
This was a great space! We were welcomed from the very minute that we pulled up. The neighborhood is very safe and there numerous restaurants and shops nearby! It was about a 45 minute walk to downtown and a quick uber ride back. We 100% enjoyed our stay and can't thank you enough for your hospitality!
Janie and Ginnie are perfect hosts; gracious and welcoming, yet practically invisible. The house is super cute and outfitted with everything a visitor to Portland could want. Located in the twinkly Misssissippi area, it's convenient to plenty of great restaurants and bars, as well as intriguing shops and friendly neighbors. They know everything there is to know about Portland and its environs. I cannot recommend enough a stay at their farmhouse in the city.
We stayed almost a week as I was attending a conference at the Convention Center and my wife and 5 month old baby came with me. It was SUPER convenient to get to/from the convention as well as the rest of Portland, we wound up just taking buses everywhere and walking around the local neighborhood. The neighborhood is quaint and just a few short blocks away are lots of restaurants, bars, etc., in general it's very walkable.
Janie & Ginnie really did a good job of stocking the apartment with everything that you would need: kitchen is fully stocked (even though we didn't do too much cooking), they provide LOTS of maps, recommendations, and instructions for the apartment itself (heater, tv, shower, etc.) - everything was very well documented and clear. They also sent us a note about the unseasonably hot weather ahead of time so we had a heads up on that. We saw Janie & Ginnie frequently and they were very kind and courteous, their recommendations (such as restaurants to eat at) were always spot on.
Even though the listing details the space quite accurately, I was still surprised at how BIG this place was. It is nicely decorated, with a nice mix of new/old and cool artwork. It feels cozy like a home and NOT stale/sterile like a hotel. Even though temperatures were in the 80's & 90's the apartment stayed nice and cool (especially at night). It is a basement apartment though, so anticipate a certain dampness and slight basement smell - totally normal and not a problem, but it's there - didn't negatively effect our opinion of the place at all and it wasn't overbearing, but worth noting (we left the fan in the shower running most of the time).
All in all this is a great place to stay in the Northeast of Portland with kind, considerate and thoughtful hosts who have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into the space and making you feel welcome.

About the Host, Janie And Ginnie
My partner Ginnie and I have lived in Portland for over 20 years and love all that Portland and the Northwest has to offer. We both love the outdoors - whether it's skiing, sailing, hiking, biking or gardening, you can usually find us outside with our border collie, Sadie.
We are so fortunate to have such rich bounty in this part of the country- the most amazing local produce, award winning wines, the freshest seafood, it's a foodie's paradise! We would love to share our favorite spots, both in Portland and on the Oregon Coast.
When we are not adventuring around the Northwest, we love to travel to experience other cultures and beautiful parts of the world.
