This urban-country, garden apartment is smack-dab between historic Mississippi Avenue and Williams Ave, where you are blocks away from some of Portland's best restaurants, food carts, bars and music venues.
This urban-country, garden apartment is smack-dab between historic Mississippi Avenue and Williams Ave, where you are blocks away from some of Portland's best restaurants, food carts, bars and music venues. Take the winding path around the house, past the chicken coop and "farm" to the apartment patio. Think French country get-away, only you are in Portlandia.
You can hop on two wheels, the bus or the Max train and be downtown in 10 minutes. The bus line is 2 blocks from the apartment and the Max is less than a mile from the apartment.
Farm in the City has a large master bedroom, full eat-in kitchen, bathroom with a shower, small livingroom with a flat screen tv and a private patio with a weber grill. Character abounds in this sweet get-away - exposed beams and bricks with a clean, simple aesthetic. Wifi, Netflix and street parking.
Perhaps the reviews say it best, our guests love the apartment and the neighborhood. Come and live like a local!
The coolest neighborhood in Portland. Williams and Mississippi Aves. are chocked full of award winning restaurants and indie shops & boutiques.
It has the quintessential Portlandia vibe that Portland is known for and loved.
We are 2 blocks from the bus stop that takes you right into downtown. We are a 10 minute walk to the nearest MAX (light rail) station. There are bike rental places in the neighborhood, and by bike, it's a 10-15 minute ride to the Pearl district and downtown.

The Farm in the City is a delightful, private oasis - though given the charming neighborhood, a respite was hardly needed. Close to everything, this lovely apartment is well-appointed with everything needed to relax after exploring Portland's Mississippi District. The hosts thoughtfully provide plenty of information about the neighborhood and the surrounding area as well as many amenities to ensure guests are comfortable in the apartment. The charming decor, featuring fun vintage accessories and terrific artwork, really makes the interior space warm and inviting, while clever landscaping provides privacy in the lush garden setting. We can't wait to come back!
The space was really comfortable and well-kept. The yard was gorgeous and the hosts, Janie & Ginnie, were fantastic. The location could not have been better, easily walkable to many great parts of the city and public transport wasn't more than a 10 minute walk away. I would definitely stay again and would recommend it to anyone visiting.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the Farm in the City! The apartment was comfortable and cozy and had everything we needed - even an umbrella and rain jacket to get us through an unexpected downpour. We were greeted warmly by Janie and Ginnie and their sweet dog, Sadie.
My aging grandmother and sister were visiting us for the week, and needed to stay in a place that had a walk-in shower. This beautiful apartment was just the ticket. The apartment is super clean and well-stocked, and the property is private, green and gorgeous. Best of all, it's in an amazing neighborhood--tucked right between Historic Mississippi and the buzzing N Williams corridor, meaning a wonderful selection of shops, bars, restaurants and bike lanes are just around the corner.
Thank you, Janie and Ginnie, for being wonderful hosts!
What a sweet place. As the other reviews stated, Janie and Ginnie's place is within walking distance to so many restaurants, bars and Portland goodness. The house is immaculate, has everything you need, and we just felt right at home. We would love to come and visit again some time.
I was met at the door by my host and she greeted me and my son warmly and made me feel welcome
Janie and Ginnie were wonderful hosts. They found a high chair for my toddler. They also allowed us to get something sent to their address via special delivery. The neighbourhood was very nice, and Janie and Ginnie recommended a nice cafe for young families. It's a nice apartment but quite difficult to make the place toddler proof with breakable items within easy reach! I'm sure with older children it's fine. The other thing was that the vacuum cleaner did not work, nor were there any brooms that we could find. Ginnie and Janie were away, so we were unable to borrow anything to clean the floors.

My partner Ginnie and I have lived in Portland for over 20 years and love all that Portland and the Northwest has to offer. We both love the outdoors - whether it's skiing, sailing, hiking, biking or gardening, you can usually find us outside with our border collie, Sadie.
We are so fortunate to have such rich bounty in this part of the country- the most amazing local produce, award winning wines, the freshest seafood, it's a foodie's paradise! We would love to share our favorite spots, both in Portland and on the Oregon Coast.
When we are not adventuring around the Northwest, we love to travel to experience other cultures and beautiful parts of the world.
