Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
The guest room is located in downtown Manhattan. I live in the apartment full-time, this listing is for my guest room only - 2 people max to comply with NYC Airbnb laws. Guests can only sleep in bedroom areas, but you will have full access to common areas. The building is steps from Battery Park, Wall St, the Seaport, and all major subways. The space offers a unique opportunity to live out your NYC dream vacation.

The space
This is a true artist loft with 10 ft high ceilings and views of the East River, it is rustic and quaint. It is different as it does not have traditional doors, windows, etc which you would get in a modern building, but it is truly an experience. The room is large, private with a lush queen sized bed, large closet, and dresser drawers. The bedroom doors are an unconventional wood slat barn door, they latch from the inside only. It has thick curtains to dampen noise. It is private and comfortable.

This building was erected in the 1800’s and at the time, the neighborhood was a shipyard filled with large docks. It was used mainly as a warehouse for rare spices imported from all over the world. If you visit the South Street Seaport Museum, which is just down the street, you can watch a twenty-minute movie about the transformation of this area. It’s incredible how much it has changed.

THE ART

I moved into the neighborhood in 2001, and painted all of the works you see around the apartment right in the kitchen. You will still find me in the afternoons using the space as a workshop when guests are out on the town and I respectfully clean up the space everyday.

Most notably my work was shown at the Art Directors Club Gallery, The Prince George gallery and others. I’m proud to say, I actually won several awards. One of my favorite places that featured my work was Dylan’s Candy Bar on the Upper East Side.

All of the art in the apartment is inspired by my travels. I worked as a photographer for the Hawaiian Airlines in-flight magazine and traveled extensively. Many of the paintings are from my time in Taiwan, and yearlong trek in the South Pacific where I focused on the study of Japanese culture.

This is also why I am happy to open my space to Airbnb. I love to think that many of you will be inspired by your travels as well! The apartment is located across from a quaint park, the space is adjacent to bustling Stone Street and trendy Dead Rabbit Bar & Restaurant.

Guest access
The whole apartment is accessible to guests. There is a full kitchen with enough space to make meals and the living room offers a sanctuary to spread out in.

During this time please be aware I work from home. But I’m quite, keep mostly to myself and I am gone most mornings, and evenings!

If you wish to host people for a dinner, it can be arranged for an additional $500 per evening. (5 max guests)

Other things to note
Please respect that this is my home, and I work and live here full-time. You are more than welcome to come in late and make unexpected noise. But if we could all be quiet without a lot of talking after 11pm, it is apprecaited.

Also on most Friday nights my boyfriend spends the night. We either goto a late dinner or a movie, and then he generally leaves by noon on Saturday mornings.

If there is loud music upstairs after 11, let me know I’ll tell the neighbors to be quiet.

Please know if you cancel 30-days in advance I can refund you. But after that it is to hard to rebook others last minute, and the policy with Air’bnb is 50% refund.

Neighborhood highlights

The neighborhood is reminiscent of old-school Europe. In the early 1800s the area was a major port, and this building was used to be a warehouse for the storage of spices. All around there are cafes, pubs, and restaurants that line cobble stone streets, and the nearby park offers a refuge from the concrete jungle life. While there is a lot going on, the apartment is quiet, which is unusual for NYC.

I’m an artist who’s lived in NYC for 20 years I’ve spent several years working in advertising and design and had a few years working on big broadway shows. I have had many fun and interesting experiences in New York. I enjoy learning about culture, I'm deeply inspired by Asia (as you can tell by my paintings) and am well traveled having been to over 30 countries. I spent a year living in Hawaii, several months in Taiwan, 6 months studying in Paris, and I use to work for a school based out of Sweden and have spent a great deal of time there as well. I love the world and I enjoy getting to know new parts through the people I share my home with. I usually try to do a 5k run every day. I'm active and love NYC and the waterfront. I spend most of my free time just running, walking, or playing in the river parks by my house.
