The Holladay House, built in phases starting around 1830, is the second-oldest building in downtown Orange. The home has hosted prominent local families, the local doctor, a dentist's office, and even a wedding reception attended by J.E.B. Stuart.

Renovated in 2021, the Holladay House can be your home base for: touring area historical attractions and wineries, attending a wedding, attending UVA events, and much more.

You can book the entire house (this listing) or individual rooms .

The space
Guests will have six bedrooms: four bedrooms on the 2nd floor and two on the walk-out basement floor.

The first floor, which has an entrance on Main St., has the common area study, parlor, and dining room.

Five of the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms; one bedroom has its bathroom across the hall.

Your hosts live in and use a few private areas in the home (laundry, home office, kitchen).

The Holladay House is right in downtown Orange, a highly walkable historic small town.

Within one block's walk are a park with water fountain, the James Madison Museum, the church where RE Lee attended services during the winter of 1863-64, a pottery studio with activities for visitors, the Orange County Historical Society, and Missy Moodie's Bakery (yum!!!).

Within two (short) blocks' walk are the post office, pharmacy, public library, historic Italianate county courthouse, a great restaurant, and an antique store.

Within three (short) blocks' walk are another restaurant, another antique store, a gift shop and more.

Just across the train tracks are the depot/visitor center, another antique store, Orange Arts Center, Chinese restaurant, and more.

Within 5 minutes' drive are several fast food restaurants, two Mexican restaurants, Food Lion grocery store, and the VA ABC (liquor) store.

My wife and I love to eat and look at beautiful things large and small, natural and man-made, at home and far away.

During your stay

We live on the first floor of the house - guest rooms are upstairs and downstairs from 1F - and enjoy hearing our guests' stories.

If that's not your style, no worries! You can chat as much or as little as you like, no offense taken!

If you need us, call or message me during the day or knock on our door at night.
