Mountain and valley views

Guests say the views are lovely.
Along the driveway where the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness can best be seen across our grassy pond, the view has always captivated us, so we dropped a tiny cabin here. It’s a magical rustic blend of off-grid simplicity and curated luxury.

The space
We built this cabin with the intention of doing things differently. It lives somewhere between a guest lodge and an old-school summer camp and is simple, beautiful, and deeply connected to the land. Because of that, putting it into words has always been the hardest part.

When you come here, expect to slow down and lean into a more elemental way of living. You’ll prepare your meals over the outdoor fire or on the camp stove, heat water to wash your enamel dishes in a basin, and learn the ease of using a composting toilet (tucked in its own little room off the front porch). Instead of a traditional shower, you’ll enjoy a forest sauna and a refreshing dip in the creek. Bring an ice chest and your favorite camp-style meals. Details on what we provide are listed below.

Inside, the single-room cabin is fully handcrafted custom everything from the custom queen bed to the built-in counter. It’s filled with a blend of vintage treasures and thoughtfully sourced high-quality pieces, including a tiny wood stove with a glowing glass front and organic linens that invite you to sink in and rest.

This is a place to soak in nature, slow down, and reconnect. Sip coffee from a ceramic mug while ducks drift across the pond. Stargaze from bed on clear nights. Play games by candlelight or share stories around the fire. Slip on your coziest sweater and wander down the driveway in the crisp morning air. Remember what simplicity can feel like.

Because of our rural location, you’ll have access to hiking trails, lakes, ponds, and rivers all within walking distance. Swim, hike, run, or simply rest. The cabin is fairly secluded but not isolated: our main house is visible in the distance, and a friendly neighbor lives in another cabin across the pond. We offer privacy and are happy to chat if you’d like. We let our guests set the tone.

If you’re visiting in late spring or early summer, the mosquitos like to say hello. Please keep windows and doors closed (everything is screened!) and bring bug spray. We usually have some available too.

Things to Note

PETS

We welcome one well-behaved dog for a $60 pet fee. Because one of our own dogs is nervous around other dogs, we ask that visiting pets stay leashed and avoid interaction with our pup. Thank you for helping us keep the property calm and safe for everyone.

SAUNA
You’ll have access to our wood-fired forest sauna — it’s such a gem. It’s located near our home, and you’ll walk through the yard to reach it. We’re happy to light it for you anytime. Just ask! ✨🔥

OUTDOOR KITCHEN
We’ve added a beautiful outdoor kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven, grill, and propane stove. It’s near our main house, and you’re welcome to bring over your cooking supplies from the cabin to enjoy it.

WINTER SEASON
In winter, you’ll need a snow-ready vehicle and a willingness to do a little light shoveling. We keep the driveway well-plowed and are directly off a plowed county road, but Montana snow can still pile up. Be prepared for wintry conditions.

COMPANY
The cabin sits just off our driveway, so you may see us drive by occasionally. You’ll also be near the main house that we occupy, and our neighbors live across the pond. While the property feels secluded, we like guests to know that there is life happening around them so nothing feels surprising upon arrival.

NO WI-FI
We’re fully off-grid, and the cabin intentionally has no

Guest access
Guests have private access to the indoor and outdoor amenities. The sauna and outdoor kitchen are a shared space located just in front of our house.

Other things to note
Please note, this is a rural area with no wifi, electricity, or running water. There is little to no wifi for most guests, so please only book if you are not dependent on these things.

Neighborhood highlights

We are located on a 15 acre parcel of land. Across the pond you will see a small cabin that we do not own. The owners occupy it very infrequently, and even when they are there you probably will not hear much from them. You will also be able to see our house through the trees from the yard.
