Lake view

Guests say the views are lovely.
Five indoor/outdoor levels with hot tub perched above Roaming Woods Lake. Step down through the pines: coffee on the grill deck at sunrise, golden hour in the hot tub, stars from the dock at midnight. Kayaks, paddleboards, a canoe, and a Boston Whaler skiff for the days on the water; two fire pits for nights ashore. Tucked into the trees so neighbors fade and seclusion sets in. Sleeps 13 in four bedrooms, two hours from Manhattan or Philadelphia. Built for the weekend you remember for years.

The space
Step inside Poke A Nose Inn and Roaming Woods Lake is already in front of you: a wall of windows on the main floor, the dock visible through the pines, the hot tub set just below. Then you notice the descent: five distinct levels step down through the trees to the water, each with its own view, its own purpose, its own time of day. Two hours from Manhattan or Philadelphia. Reserved for groups who care how a weekend feels.

✦ FIVE TIERS, ONE LAKE ✦

Most lake houses give you a deck. We give you a vertical landscape.

★ Level 5: Alpine Loft (Upper Floor). Skylit, quiet, partial lake views: the early-riser tier. King bed, reading chair, writing desk, and a giant-screen lounge for movie nights or kids’ headquarters.

★ Level 4: Forest Floor + Grill Deck (Main Level). The heart of the house. Vaulted ceilings, a wall of windows on the lake, a wood stove and fireplace, an open kitchen with espresso machine, and a dining table that seats the group. Step out the back to the main-level deck: gas grill, Adirondacks, four-top dining, and filtered lake views. This is where the BBQ happens.

★ Level 3: Hot Tub Deck (Outdoor) / Lake Lounge (Indoor). Outside: the 7-person hot tub set above the shoreline for golden-hour soaks and starlit nights. Inside on the same level: the Lake Lounge, with pool table, dry bar, darts, and a second hangout zone.

★ Level 2: The Hammock Mid-Station. A landing between decks where a giant hammock hangs in the pines. The quiet level. Bring a book or just listen.

★ Level 1: The Dock. Solo Stove fire pit, six-person dining table on the water, chaise longues, kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, a sailboat, and our Boston Whaler 15-foot skiff, the only motorboat available to short-term guests on this lake. Sunrise coffee, lazy swims, sunset drifts, stars over the water.

The Boston Whaler is yours to use throughout your stay. A NASBLA boater safety certificate is required (free at BoatUS), plus a brief call with us before you arrive to walk through Roaming Woods Lake’s rules.

★☆ WHY GUESTS BOOK (AND RETURN) ☆★

★ Lake on every level: Roaming Woods Lake views from the kitchen, the loft, the grill deck, the hot tub, the hammock, and the dock.
★ Boston Whaler skiff: The only motorboat on the lake available to short-term guests. Tooling, fishing, sunset rides.
★ 7-person hot tub above the shoreline: Professionally maintained and chemically balanced before every stay.
★ Sleeps 13 across 4 bedrooms: Two kings, a bunk room for kids, a private lower-level queen suite, plus two pull-outs.
★ Two distinct hangout zones: Alpine Loft (movies, games, screens) upstairs; Lake Lounge (pool table, bar) downstairs. Adults and kids never compete for one room.
★ Fully equipped kitchen: Espresso machine, sharp knives, real cookware. Family meals work here.
★ Fiber WiFi + central AC: Reliable for remote work, streaming, and summer comfort.
★ A full resort community inside the gates: Lake beach, two outdoor pools + a heated indoor pool, 9-hole golf course, tennis + pickleball (outdoor in summer, indoor year-round), basketball, fitness center + sauna, art studio, arcade, a small ski hill in winter. You can structure a full week here without leaving The Hideout.
★ 2 hours from Manhattan or Philadelphia: Close enough for a weekend, remote enough to feel away.

★☆ OUTSIDE: THE PREMIUM PART ☆★

This is where the days actually happen.

The Dock (Waterline): Private and tucked into a quiet cove. Kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, a sailboat, and the Boston Whaler skiff. Solo Stove fire pit, six-person dining table, chaise longues for long reads. Sunrise to starlight.
The Hammock Mid-Station: A landing between decks where a giant hammock hangs in the pines. The naps happen here.
The Hot Tub Deck: The 7-person spa sits perched above the lake, framed by trees. Coffee in the morning, glass of wine at golden hour, stars overhead at night.
The Main-Level Grill Deck: Gas grill, Adirondacks, four-top dining, filtered lake views. Off the back of the main level: the BBQ tier.
Tiered Entry Decks: Landscaped paths, lighting, a small water feature, and a dedicated coffee nook so the first cup happens outdoors.
Driveway-Side Fire Pit: Six Adirondack chairs around a wood-burning pit, tucked into the trees on the level upper terrain. S’mores, stories, and the second fire of the night after the Solo Stove on the dock has wound down.
Parking: Off the cul-de-sac, fits up to 6 cars.

★☆ INSIDE ☆★

Forest Floor (Main Level): An open lodge-style layout brings kitchen, dining, and living together under vaulted ceilings. Floor-to-ceiling windows pull the lake in; a wood stove and fireplace keep it warm in winter; the espresso machine, sharp knives, and real cookware make it easy to cook for a group.
Alpine Loft (Upper Level): A second hangout zone with a giant TV, books, games, and a reading nook under skylights. Movie nights, quiet afternoons, or a screen-free space for the kids.
Lake Lounge (Lower Level): Pool table, darts, dry bar, room to spread out. The after-hours zone: perfect once dinner winds down.

★☆ BEDROOMS ☆★

Each room is built to feel like a small retreat: soft linens, blackout curtains, quiet enough for deep sleep.

Alpine King Loft (King | Upper Level | Shared Bath): Skylights, reading chair, writing desk, partial lake views. The early-riser room.
Blue Bird Room (King | Main Level | Shared Bath): Cocoon-like, soft hues, forest views. Our most-loved bedroom for sleep.
Bear’s Den (2 Twin Bunks | Main Level | Shared Bath): Sturdy, warm bunks for kids, cousins, or friends.
Sailboat Suite (Queen | Lower Level | Ensuite Half Bath): Private and quiet. Cool in summer, cozy in winter, with a glimpse of the lake and its own half bath.

A queen pull-out sofa on the Forest Floor and a twin pull-out in the Alpine Loft give you flexibility for multigen groups. Sleeps up to 13.

★☆ BATHROOMS ☆★

2.5 bathrooms, plush towels, custom natural soaps, quality toiletries.

Loft Bath (Full): Bright and spacious. Refresh after lake time, skiing, or the hot tub.
Main Floor Bath (Full): Central, with shower stall. Family mornings and quick clean-ups.
Ensuite Half Bath (off the Sailboat Suite): Nighttime convenience.

★☆ SUMMER AT POKE A NOSE INN ☆★

Summer is what this property was built for. Days start with coffee on the dock, then a Boston Whaler ride before the lake gets busy. Mid-morning swims off the dock. Long lunches on the grill deck. Afternoons split between the hammock, the kayaks, and a paddleboard chase. Golden hour brings the hot tub and a glass of something cold. Dinner outside. Fire pit and stars. The Hideout community adds pools, beaches, golf, tennis, and pickleball within the gates, but most guests rarely leave the property.

★☆ WINTER AT THE RETREAT ☆★

Quiet woods, woodstove evenings, hot tub nights under the stars. Ski The Hideout’s hill for relaxed family days, or head to Elk Mountain, Montage, or Jack Frost / Big Boulder for full terrain. Indoors, the pool table, loft lounge, and warm family spaces make winter weekends feel intimate. Fiber WiFi and dedicated workspaces make a long ski-and-work week genuinely workable.

★☆ EVERYTHING WITHIN REACH ☆★

The lake is the main event, but The Hideout is a fully-amenitized, 24-hour-gated, four-season community. Guests routinely structure entire weeks around its facilities without ever leaving the gates. And outside the gates, the Poconos open up: state parks, wineries, spas, ski mountains, and historic Pocono towns.

Inside The Hideout (5–10 minutes from your driveway, all included with the community ID we set up for you):

Lake beach on Roaming Woods with sand, lifeguards in season, picnic tables, and swim docks
Two outdoor pools + a heated indoor pool (year-round swimming)
9-hole golf course with pro shop and clubhouse
Tennis + pickleball: outdoor courts in summer, indoor courts at the rec center year-round
Basketball, volleyball, shuffleboard, bocce: open courts and lawns at the rec center, included with your community ID
Fitness center + sauna at the Hideout Recreation Center
Nubia Malkin Art Center: ceramics painting, classes, gallery (a rainy-day saviour for kids)
Arcade + game room at the rec center
Small ski hill + tubing in winter: easy family ski day without a long drive
Five community lakes: Roaming Woods is yours, and four others are open to community guests

Within a 20-minute drive:

Promised Land + Gouldsboro State Parks: miles of trails, multiple lakes, swimming, boating
Lacawac Sanctuary: 545 preserved acres of forest, lake, and trails
Three Hammers Winery (tastings) and Ritter’s Cidery (small-batch ciders + live music)
Nurnberger Bierhaus: classic German fare and warm hospitality
The Spa at Woodloch: destination-level treatments in a serene wooded setting
The Silk Mill in Hawley: boutiques, galleries, and a café with seasonal pastries
The Settlers Inn + Ledges Hotel: refined dining for special evenings

Within 30–60 minutes:

Elk Mountain, Montage, and Jack Frost / Big Boulder: full ski terrain for all levels
Hawley, Honesdale, and Milford: historic Pocono towns with bookstores, bakeries, farmers markets, and seasonal events like Winterfest
Upper Delaware River: scenic drives, hiking, and rafting in season
Bushkill Falls: the "Niagara of Pennsylvania"

Many guests come for the lake and never touch any of this. Others build different days around different amenities: golf morning, ski afternoon, ceramics class for the kids, hot tub at sunset. Both kinds of trip work.

★☆ BOOK EARLY ☆★

Premium weekends fill 6–12 months out. If you have dates in mind, claim them now; we’ll take care of the rest.
