Welcome to an adult only peaceful place in nature at the Hidden Valley Wilderness Retreat. 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bathrooms, kitchenette, living room, screened patio tucked away in nature. Whispering Elm offers linens, dinnerware. Bring your food drinks and entertainment. Limited WiFi /cell reception.

Hot tub: semi-private, signup private use time with waiver form @ arrival. 2 mi walking trails, ponds - no fishing/swimming. Perfect for unplugging and recharging on your own.

The space
This listing is for a fully private treehouse/treecabin. It is located on an old priest retreat sight. Treehouse opened Sept 2021. The treehouse is located in a valley ledge overlooking the trickling creek - very secluded from others. Guests have access to the 32 acre property with over 2 miles of walking trails. Included in your guest suite are lg picture windows for bringing the natural light inside. The mini-kitchen comes with a counter top oven (lg enough for two 14 in pizzas) Med size refrigerator/freezer, 2 burner cooktop, sm. microwave, single basin sink & faucet, tableware +cookware. Countertop is from a large live edge maple tree. A Keurig coffee maker and coffee supplies provided. (Reg and decaf kcups coffee, creamers+sugars) Bring your own food/beverages. An upstairs bedroom has queen size bed 500 lb max weight). Must climb circular stairs to the loft. (1 person on stairs at a time; 300 lbs max per step. The main level bedroom also has a queen bed (500 lb max weight) The main level has a living room dining kitchen combo area. Internet and cell reception can be spotty - depends on cell carrier. Wifi is available. No streaming. Indoor toilet, sink vanity, and shower in main floor bathroom. Toilet and sink vanity in upstairs 1/2 bath. Full sized hot water heater. The spacious screened-in deck provides amazing views of the surrounding forest with a trickling stream just beyond view. It has multiple seating options for enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature any time of the day. The backyard offers an outdoor gas grill & private fire-pit. Firewood provided.
No fishing, swimming or diving in ponds.
Hot tub amenity option - guests must sign a liability waiver prior use. Semi-private, located in a separate pavilion on the Retreat grounds; schedule use time by self sign-up once you arrive. Sign-up board on the outside of pavilion. Swimsuits required. Located between Graham's Treehouse and the main retreat house.
Excellent quality tap water thru Rwd #12 (Not private well water).

Guest access
The property is located on a paved road and a gravel driveway down into the valley. Guests will be messaged with a front door keyless entry code close to reservation date. This code is unique for each guest. There are 2+ miles of maintained trails, rocky streams, and ponds. Please exercise caution when enjoying the peaceful acreage in this rugged valley. Please stay on maintained trails and obey all signs. Trail maps are provided. This acreage is extremely secluded, quiet, and peaceful. It is nearly 100% wooded with old growth oaks, elms, walnuts, hickories, cedars, and many other varieties. You will find yourself renewed after experiencing all the valley has to offer.

There are steps from ground level to the entrance. Additionally, there are steps on the spiral staircase up to the 2nd level. The trail system requires some steps, and many up/downhill segments - some long and challenging.

Other things to note
Welcome to the Hidden Valley Wilderness Retreat. You will be hard pressed to find anywhere a more remote and peaceful location so close to a major metropolitan area. The property includes 31 acres of old growth trees, hills, and streams. See our other Airbnb listings for additional offerings on the property.

Food: No food or drink service at retreat. Groceries can be purchased in town. Common cookware and tableware is provided. Nearby Leavenworth and Atchison have a wide variety of national chain and local mom and pop dining establishments.

Communication note: due to the remoteness of the valley, connectivity with the outside world is limited. Please read and understand the following notes below. We hope you see your time in the valley as a chance to escape from the many distractions of daily life.

Internet note: Internet service provided not guaranteed to support streaming movies, video, & music. Wifi calling and video conferencing are usually successful.

TV note: Satellite TV service provided by DirectTV. There is a dvd player in the treehouse.

Phone note: we are not aware of any mobile carriers with full coverage in the valley. Please connect to our wifi and enable wifi calling on your device in order to improve outside connectivity. Texting may be spotty, depending on carrier. Please use an internet based messaging service.
