Guest access
We're just blocks from the quaint shopping and eating establishments of downtown, yet have very little through traffic on our street. Our house is set back off the street, with an irrigated lawn and off-street paved parking for 4-6 vehicles. There's also ample on-street parking. Large vehicles or trailers can park on the street or off-street.

We have a stroller, and the distance to town and the park/lake isn't bad, but it's a steep hill. Both up and down can be a challenge. If you want to go for a walk or run, there are beautiful, quiet streets around us that aren't so steep.

In the winter, there's a public outdoor ice rink across the road. (Please contact the Walker Area Community Center for information.)

Other things to note
Though it's not obvious from the street, this vacation rental is in a two-story building. You will have the full main level to yourselves. You will not share your street entrance, parking, front door, etc. The house is on a corner lot, and the lower level is accessed from the other street.

There are two apartments in the lower level. One is another (2 bedroom) vacation rental, and may be available to increase your space. We can open up the indoor stairway to connect the two rentals if desired. This stairway isn't obvious, so each unit feels independent. The stairway is long and narrow. Going around to that lower entrance is also an option. (The other lower level apartment is occupied long term.)

You will be able to hear the garage doors in the lower level open and close.

A dumpster is available on the property for your convenience. It's in the lower level parking area.

There's central air conditioning throughout the building. In addition to the central heating system, each bedroom has its own electric heat. Feel free to use those heaters if you like your sleeping rooms warmer!

Neighborhood highlights

Very quiet neighborhood. At the top of the hill in Walker, we're just a block from the K-12 school with its playground and track, and 6 blocks from Hardee's and the city park on Leech Lake. The Walker Area Community Center is behind us, with an outdoor skating rink and access to trails. The bike trail is nearby. It's less than a mile to Super One for groceries, and a half mile to downtown shops and restaurants.

Lives in Pine River, Minnesota
I'm a grateful wife and homeschooling mom in rural northern Minnesota. We have 9 kids, love to travel, and have been staying in vacation rentals for years. We're new hosts in January of 2022, and are excited to create spaces that include the things we've appreciated most in our best guest experiences. Sometimes we're more adventurous, but the past few years we've preferred traveling back to familiar places in the Black Hills and Florida (in the off season). We've owned and operated assisted living homes for over a decade, so we're not new to hospitality, creating comfortable spaces, or careful cleaning.
