Calm and convenient location

Some info has been automatically translated.
Our Airbnb is a colourful, cosy and creative completely private space attached to our mid century bungalow. It has its own entrance, mini kitchen, double bedroom and en-suite shower room
We are in a quiet yet convenient and walkable location for the beaches, coast path, Castle, shops, restaurants & bars in the village of Mumbles.
There is free private parking directly outside the house and we are within a 10 min walk of Mumbles village in one direction and the beaches in the other direction.

The space
You’ll be staying in a spotlessly clean, colourful self contained annex with a bedroom, kitchenette, ensuite shower room and a little outdoor summer seating area.
We are continually improving the space in a sustainable and creative way and have installed a separate kitchenette using reclaimed materials where possible. It has a sink, fridge, kettle, microwave, toaster, crockery and cutlery. (No hob or oven) Everything you need for making simple meals, hot drinks, breakfast, picnics and warming food from our local M&S. There’s a tiny dining area in the entrance hall and and more seating in the bedroom.
The chairs and headboard in the bedroom are upholstered in Caroline’s textile designs and the en-suite has a shower, toilet, sink, towels and toiletries.
Your accommodation is at the front of the house, accessed through the front door.
You have sole access to the front door and complete privacy.
If you wish to have a break from your car you can leave it outside the house for the duration of your stay and explore the beaches, coast and village on foot from our convenient location.
We have been Airbnb hosts almost since its inception in the UK so I hope our experience over the years has led us to think of everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay!

Guest access
Guests have sole use and access to their space through the front door.

Other things to note
You have the facilities to prepare your own breakfast, make a picnic and heat up ready meals in the kitchenette but It doesn’t have the appliances to cook a gourmet meal - no hob or oven - just a microwave! (Which is plugged in in the cupboard to save workshop space.) There are plenty of great cafes and restaurants in walking distance - on the beach and in Mumbles village.
We are at the top of a hill (wales is quite hilly!) and there are 5 wide steps up to the front door which may be a problem if you have mobility issues, however once inside the house is on one level.
We have private free parking on the road directly outside the house.
Even though the check in is listed as 3pm - 2am we can often be flexible - just ask!
Our price is for 1 or 2 adults and we don’t charge a deposit or extra for cleaning. Sorry but the space isn’t suitable for very young children or pets.

Neighborhood highlights

If you want a few days to relax, walk, eat, drink and leave your car, the beaches, coastal path, castle and village of Mumbles are all close by. We are in a convenient location on a quiet road road half way between the beach and village.

Turn left out of the front door and it’s a 5-10 minutes walk to Rotherslade Beach which has a cafe serving breakfast, lunch and coffee all day. 5 minutes walk round the corner to the right is Langland Bay which is a larger sandy beach, popular with surfers and paddle boarders. It is renowned for it's beach huts and palm trees. and There’s Surfside cafe on the beach and a restaurant with a lovely outdoor deck at the far end.
If you continue past Langland on the coastal path, it takes about 40 mins to walk to Caswell beach where there are more cafes on the beach. If you're lucky you may see some seals on the way!

Turn right out of the front door and within 10 minutes you'll be in Mumbles with a good selection of shops, cafes, bars, Oystermouth Castle, and Joes Ice Cream.

The closest access to the coastal path is at Rotherslade from where you can walk around the Gower Peninsula, taking in Caswell, Oxwich, Rhossili and Llangennith. If you have less time you can walk the cliff path in the opposite direction and head towards Mumbles, taking in the Lighthouse, pier and lifeboat house on the way.
There is a list of restaurants, cafes and bars in your room along with plenty of maps and information on the area and suggestions of where to visit. We’d welcome Your feedback on these as insight for other guests!
Langland and Caswell are surfing beaches and You’re welcome to borrow our surfboard and kayak - just ask and we’ll get it out for you. We are also within walking distance of the local golf course which is situated on Langland point.
If you are staying to visit Swansea University the walk along the prom is flat and takes about 30- 40 mins or 10 mins in the car. There are Santander bikes which can be hired in Mumbles and are great for using along the prom.

Our house has been featured in many publications - as a progressive project during and shortly after it's construction in the 1960’s and more recently for it's beautiful setting and unusual, colourful interior. When we began hosting, many years ago, it was featured in an article entitled 'Airbnb in Wales: 17 of the most beautiful, quirky and interesting places you can stay'

My work: Artist/designer
I am an artist / designer and I love beautiful spaces and landscapes. I have a small studio space in my house near the beach on the beautiful Gower Peninsula. I live with my partner Brian in a beautiful part of the world but we also enjoy visiting other interesting places. We love spontaneity and last minute bookings - as both guests and hosts!
