Valley view

Soak up the view during your stay.
Designed for families as a relaxing spot to get away from the hustle & bustle of life, the "Hillside Hideaway" is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath cabin perched on a hill in southeastern Missouri with a gorgeous sunset view from the screen porch. We have a well-stocked kitchen, laundry, fire pit, and plenty of toys and games for the whole family.

It is just a couple of miles to a sandy swimming beach at Lake Wappapello, the boat ramp at Chaonia Landing, and many hiking trails in Lake Wappapello State Park.

The space
Featured in "Design STL" magazine, the "Hillside Hideaway" is located on 2 acres of wooded land, perched on a hill which creates beautiful vistas of the rolling hills that peak through the trees. We have a large deck with a patio dining set, a west-facing screened porch with oversized hand-carved wooden chairs with a comfy day bed, a large stone firepit encircled by a ring of old oak trees, and a hammock to swing your cares away.

The cabin has been designed by the owner of Bonboni Mercantile Co., an award-winning boutique in St. Louis, MO. Every detail, inside and out, has been thought out and designed to foster an atmosphere of rest.

There are two bedrooms and one bathroom with a walk-in shower with sliding glass doors. The main bedroom has a comfortable queen-size memory foam mattress and the bunk bedroom has two sets of twin bunk beds (4 single beds). If you need sleeping space for the 7th guest, we have a twin-size rollaway bed, or the couch in the living room has a single "bench" style cushion that can be used to sleep on.

Please keep in mind that this is a cabin surrounded by woods. While we regularly treat the cabin for pests and have a strict cleaning regimen, occasionally, insects can find their way inside. We do our absolute best to mitigate and prevent this from happening.

Here is some of what you will find in the cabin:

- gorgeous vintage furniture and decor (beautiful, yet still kid-friendly)
- kitchen filled with cooking and baking equipment
- bath toiletries and hairdryer
- washer and dryer
- hammock
- large fire pit (bring your own s'mores supplies!) and Adirondack chairs
- charcoal grill
- board games, toys, and DVDs
- fast wifi internet (about 25 Mbps) and streaming capabilities on the TV

Up to two well-behaved dogs are allowed to stay with you during your stay for a $185 non-refundable fee to account for extra cleaning after your stay. This fee is already included in the booking fee airbnb displays if you have selected to bring a pet for your guest count. Please let us know if you are bringing a pet with you. Please make sure your dog is on a flea-and-tick-prevention treatment.

While we have a new HVAC unit, our HVAC service company has advised us to keep the temperature at 71° or above when the AC is on in the summer. If the temperature is set below that temperature, the unit will constantly run and cause the lines to freeze resulting in no AC. If you are someone who needs to sleep with the AC at 63° in the middle of the summer, our cabin might not be a good fit for you.

Guest access
Outdoor parking is available on the property. Please limit it to 3 cars.

Other things to note
The cabin is on two acres of wooded land, but not 100% secluded. You are able to see a neighboring house.
