Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Welcome to the Silvermine Hideaway™. Come escape and recharge. Just 1 hour to NYC by car or train. Close to the beach, restaurants, and many attractions. Just a mile from Graybarns and the Silvermine Art Center.

Light and airy, this fully equipped and spacious home is comfortable, serene, and convenient.

The property overlooks a private yard and provides a quiet place to work or relax. The outdoor sunken patio with grill will soon be your favorite spot.

We can't wait to welcome you.

The space
Nestled in the center of historic Silvermine in Norwalk, CT, this secluded getaway has everything you need. Sitting at the hilltop of a quiet dead-end street, you’ll be close to everything, but miles away from everyday life. Located just over 1 hour from New York City by car or train, we are convenient to both I95 and the Merritt Parkway. 90 minutes to LaGuardia or JFK airports, and just 30 minutes to White Plains airport.

Our unique space is perfect for grandparents visiting a new grandchild, individuals or couples searching the area for a new home or waiting for their new home to be ready, brides preparing for the big day, or anybody who just wants a serene and beautiful place to relax.

The smart lock allows for keyless self-check-in at your convenience, and motion lights will welcome any nighttime arrivals. The video doorbell allows you to communicate with the host if there are any issues.

In the living room, you’ll find a large and comfortable sectional couch with plenty of cushions and cozy throw blankets. Read a book, take a nap, do yoga, or just relax in front of the 55” Smart TV. Sign into your Netflix, Prime, or any other streaming account, or watch any of the free services. Central Air Conditioning and Heat ensure comfort during your stay, and the large windows and french doors provide ample light throughout the day. The interior design welcomes you and inspires your creativity.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to enjoy meals at home: coffee maker and hot water kettle, toaster and microwave, full oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher. All the cooking utensils, spices, pots & pans, and tools are here. And there’s plenty of storage for your groceries.

The bedroom features a top-of-the-line Serta California King bed with a memory foam topper, extra pillows, and plenty of blankets. The unique headboard is an antique barn door from a local Silvermine property. Want to sleep in? Blackout curtains combined with blinds ensure complete privacy.

The oversized bathroom includes a spa setting with a large walk-in shower, jumbo soft towels, extra-large closet, and thoughtful amenities such as soap/shampoo sets, hairdryer, nightlights, and magnifying mirror.

Lastly, the office provides a quiet place to work, play chess, draw, or simply enjoy the views of the garden and yard. Doors separate the office from the rest of the living space for quiet if needed. Our large mid-century desk has plenty of workspace, and the drawers lock in case you need to secure anything during your stay. Hi-Speed mesh WiFi ensures plenty of bandwidth for all your devices. The office couch even folds down to a twin bed for an emergency overnight guest.

Outside, you can relax with a glass of wine while you watch the sunset from your private sunken patio. In spring and summer, enjoy the gardens and flowering plants. In autumn, the fall foliage is simply amazing. Roll out the large awning to create a virtual outdoor room, or grill up your dinner on the Weber propane barbeque.

You have a dedicated laundry room with a full-size washer and dryer should you need it during your stay. Detergent is provided along with an ironing board and iron.

This 1000 sq. ft. getaway is all on one level, and although we are not fully ADA compliant, it was designed to accommodate people with mobility issues (ie: wider doorways).

Some guests have stated they feel like they’re in a secluded cottage. However, it is attached to the main house and shares one wall, but you will have complete privacy and solitude.

We can’t wait to meet you.

Guest access
You will have a private driveway large enough for two cars.

Other things to note
We welcome long-term guests! Please note: In accordance with Connecticut State law, the following additional rules apply for any stays over 28 days: Guests will be required to sign a lease agreement upon arrival. This lease agreement is in addition to any Airbnb terms and conditions, and it states the same basic information: length of stay, house rules, etc. You’ll also be asked to provide a copy of your driver’s license. Please contact us if you have any questions.

If your visit is a special occasion that requires a custom cake or other baked treats, we HIGHLY recommend Jenny at La Comida Social (lacomidasocial-dot-com). Her amazing cakes are featured at area restaurants, and you won’t find a more skilled baker.
