Xewkija a village in Gozo Island. The population of Xewkija is 3,115 (Nov 2005), that is the fourth largest . This cosy farmhouse is opposite the city council hall , situated on a quiet road . If you like rest and peace you will love it here :-)
Situated in Xewkija GOZO .30 minute car ferry from Malta .Quiet rustic 120 year castle like old home , with two double bedrooms en suite(one with bath and one with shower), fully airconditioned , renovated ,with a private swimming pool(Extra shower by pool area) for people who enjoy tranquility and peace , Closest sandy beach(Ramla bay) is 10 min by car , great weather up to November but with a bit of luck the winters can be mild too . Wonderful restaurants all over this tiny eco island .( The house is full of business cards of my personal favourite restaurants)
Roof terrace with wonderfull views over the valley comino and malta and the churches .( Great in summer with a bottle of wine enjoying the fireworks during the fiestas
I would recommend to hire a car from the airport, if you would like to discover this wonderful island !
You really feel like you have gone back in time . You will see lots of little old women wearing black( if they are widows)sweeping there doorsteps or sitting on them watching the occasional car go by ! Or the little old men on there mopeds going to look after there plot of land ! You will also hear the local Shepard walking by with his flock of sheep with bells ;-)
I have had lots of compliments on the box spring beds ! Apparently quite unique for gozo !
Baby cot and highchair available in premises
Flat screen tv
Solar heating ( hot water)
Sound system ( I pod/ I phone)
Private swimming pool, free easy to park hired car , local butcher, baker, mini market walking distance
I will be available 24/7 , texting/ whatsapp is best option
Love the sounds of the church bells , the sound of occasional horse cart galloping by , the bells of the sheep and my favourite the peace:-)
For people who like to hike or go for long walks the valley in front is beautiful
The bus stop is around the corner , but cannot advise as I have never been on one!
Wonderful place in Gozo. We felt we where living in a castle...with the many nice rooms this house has. My favourite: The view from the roof terrace is amazing. You‘ll have the blue sky and the entire city in front of you. It was the perfect place to do my morning yoga routine. We will come back in Summer!
I fully agree with all the other comments. The house is phantastic, with spacious rooms (with ensuite), alost like a little castle. The view from the rooftop is great. The house has evereything you need and comforts a family or party of 4. Ian had even put some food and wine in the fridge when we arrived late at night, so we did not have to go to bed starving.
Rent a car to best explore the surrounding - or use the hop on hop off bus, which stops at the village square every 45 mins.
Thanks again to Ian - he was a great host.
Thank you Ian for the wondeful time we spend in your beautiful house.
It was exactly what we looked for, esthetic, quiet and close to everywhere in Gozo. Very convenient.
The beds were very comfortable. After a good day swimming, hiking and visiting Gozo, it was a real pleasure to return to "Ian's castle " and enjoy the sky and the freshness of the night on the roof terrace.
Thank you again.
I came to Gozo with my 3 teenager for 10 days had the most fabulous holiday here in Xewkija, (said Chau-keya!). Ians house supasses it images online, and was the most comfortable and lovely home to be in. The bedrooms are huge, comfy kingsize beds with ensuites. The sitting room on the 1st floor, (which we called the 'White cake parlour" after a line in a movie), was opulent and grand! Ian has had wifi put in now, which meant the children could have a bit of the ever neccessary social media input at the end of the day! Stunning views over the 3rd largest dome in Europe from the rooftop terrace, and a great point to watch the ever present fireworks at festa time!
The village has a great bakery tucked away with no signage, behing a curtain of blue plastic stips, beyond Felix's butchers. They still bake the bread in the traditional manner, in a huge coal fired oven; its warm, fresh and cheap. There are a couple of shops in the square too that provide everything you will need.
The beach at Mgarr -Xi-Xini has a fab little cafe - but book for lunch as it's v popular- 5 minute drive from the house. Xlendi also has a wide selection and we ate a beautiful meal at ta 'Karolina.
Scuba diving with Extra Divers on Comino was great, and hire a rackety old jeep for the full Gozo experience! (May ned a rock to put behind the back wheel on occasion!)
I cannot thank Ian enough, every email was prompty answered, Drew, the contact on the island was very helpful and checked by phone to make sure we were happy. Josefine, the lady who cleans was a wealth of information too. We will be back.
This was our first time to Malta, and we found this house in Gozo as we wanted a pool. The house is quite amazing, with wonderful views from the roof terrace. It has a bit of an old castle feel to it.
Bedrooms very spacious and air-con worked well.
We spent many happy days just relaxing around the pool and swimming.
Very useful have a hire car.
Really great place and very helpful man Drew who looks after the house.
I highly recommend the house.
This farmhouse in the small and quiet village Xewkija is a fantastic place for people who likes an individual holiday away from the busy overcrowded tourist places.
The house is charming and is renovated to be very functional.
We were there in July/August so the swimmingpool and aircondition were much appreciated.
Our two year old son enjoyed the place too...especially the pool. (The house has a high chair and a baby cot)
Ian was a really good host. He was very helpful when we had questions.
During our stay the cleaner did our laundry at a fair price,
We highly recommend this unique place, and would love to come back again some day

We spent a comfortable and relaxing week with our kids in this special house. The pool is very nice and the sleeping rooms are grandly decorated with really comfortable beds. It is unusual having to cross the outdoor staircase to get from one room to the other, but in summer that is no problem whatsoever. The high up roof terrace is just grand with a wonderful view of almost all Gozo. The pool is shady in the mornings, but sunny in the afternoon. The kitchen has all that is necessary only one has to be carful of not letting any food standing around open and best not take any into the sleeping rooms. As everywhere in Gozo, the little insects will come for it. The checking in and out was easy and the descriptions of the way to the house really helped. Any question was attended to immediately. It is a very good place for families with older children, not so much with very little ones.
Absolutely beautiful property! Much bigger than we expected, the rooms are spacious, spotless and very stylishly furnished. The beds are really comfortable, the pool is sparkling, clean and in the sun for the majority of the day and the location is very peaceful and relaxing. We had a fabulous time and would definitely return.
Had a lovely week, and the house is a real gem, the rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. It was lovely to come back to the house at the end of each day, a little oasis of calm. Yes it was difficult to find, not helped by the local village having closed most of the access roads, as they were about to hold their local fete, however the upside was, that we were treated to a grand firework display, which viewed form the roof terrace was fantastic.
