Sunnybank Lodge is a beautiful handcrafted log cabin built from Welsh Wood and nestled in a cosy secluded nook on the outskirts of the Coastal village of Broad Haven. It is a 10 minute walk from the beach, located on a route 4 cycle path, and the Pembrokeshire coast path can be accessed from the cabin on foot.
All facilities are provided for you to be able to self cater during your stay and there are shops, restaurants and cafes within walking distance of the cabin.
The space
Sunnybank Lodge is a cosy, traditionally handcrafted log cabin made with sustainable Welsh Wood in Wales.
The Cabin is nestled in a cosy nook with landscaped private grounds, just on the outskirts of the coastal village of Broad Haven. It is just a 10 minute walk to the beautiful family-friendly Broad Haven beach and the other facilities the village offers including pubs, restaurants and fish and chip takeaway as well as a handy village shop and post office.
The cabin itself is made of whole logs, so the walls are incredibly thick creating a cosy space. There is bespoke shelving and clothing rails in the bedrooms as well as under bed storage in both rooms. There is gas central heating and a log burner to keep you warm.
Everything is available that you need to self cater during your stay - a microwave, toaster, kettle, under counter integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher, induction hob and oven. Tea, coffee and sugar are provided. There is a cafetière for the coffee connoisseurs. There is also plastic crockery, beakers and cutlery for children.
Bedding and one set of towels per person is provided for your stay. We do ask that people bring their own beach towels.
The master bedroom has a king sized bed. The second bedroom has a triple sleeper bunk bed, with a double bed on the bottom and single bed on the top. The top bunk specifies that only people aged 6 and over can use it.
Externally, there is a small shed adjacent to the cabin which contains a washing machine (detergent is provided) and drying rack. This space can also be used to store bikes/surfboards during your stay. Cleaning products are also stored here. There is a small gas barbecue in the shed that you can use outside.
To the back of the cabin is a small pond and private seating area. There is also an outside shower which is centrally heated and ideal for washing off after going to the beach. The pond area is fenced and gated, but we do ask that children are supervised at all times. There is also a rock face behind the garden and external lights that can illuminate the whole area at night. Again, it is advised that you don’t sit or allow children directly below this.
A path leads you up the side of the bank to a lovely viewing area with a bench. From here, you can sit and see the sea. There are cushions available in the external shed to take up with you.
To the front of the cabin, there is a large decked area with a picnic table that seats up to 6 people. The area has external lighting so can be used late into the evening.
There is good parking directly in front of the cabin on a gravelled drive. There are 9 steps up to the decking area with handrails, then 2 small decked steps up to the cabin’s door - which is a stable door. Once you are inside the cabin, everything is on one level.
Gareth is a commercial fisherman, so there is often a fishing boat on the driveway and other related equipment. This does not affect the parking or intrude on the cabin, but you may hear him leaving sometimes, early in the morning.
Guest access
There is a large decked area to the front of the cabin and all of the area to the sides and rear, including the viewing area are available for our guests to use. It is clear where the adjacent property starts.
Other things to note
The cabin comfortably sleeps 4 people - or 5 if you are happy to bunk up. We only advertise as sleeping 4, as not all children want to share a double bed, and not all adults want to bunk up onto a single bed. Please note that people have to be aged 6 or over to use the top bunk and only one person can be up in the top bunk at any time. We ask that guests do not book with the intention of allowing people to sleep on the sofa, as this is not hygienic and affects our ability to ensure that everything is fully clean for the next guests.
We also welcome a maximum of 2 dogs at a time. We provide some towels for dogs and poo bags. Please pick up after your furry friends, and please don’t let them in the bedrooms or up on the furniture. There is a dog bowl and a medium sized plastic dog basket in the shed. Please do not leave your dogs unattended in the cabin. The decked area in front of the cabin has a gate so you can have doors open whilst keeping your dogs safe and contained.
Parking: there is space for guest parking on site, but we can only accommodate a maximum of 2 cars - and politely request that we don’t have camper vans on the driveway. There is a campsite less than a 5 minute walk away in Broadway that has electric hook-up, and there is a National Parks car park in the village where daily or weekly car parking passes can be purchased.
