Nestled away in the small town of Amherst, Virginia, our farmhouse overlooks our working farm. This listing is for the entire house, consisting of individual suites.
The space
Formerly Amherst Milling Co., we transformed this property from one of the oldest feed mills in the state of Virginia into our farm and 8-room Airbnb house. The site dates back to the 1790s, making it a true historic landmark and community institution. After a multi year renovation, you’ll feel right at home here.
Each room is unique, with a mix of new and antique pieces.
Common areas:
Enjoy your morning coffee or evening libation on the front porch of the Baldock House. Complete with a seating area and porch swing, there is plenty of room to have a private conversation or enjoy the company of your fellow travelers.
On the second floor is a smaller porch that overlooks the farm and stream that runs through the property. With a small seating area, it is the perfect place to enjoy a private moment.
The foyer features a small kitchen table, microwave, and hot & cold water dispenser. The adjacent living room includes a Smart TV, love seat and arm chairs.
*Please note that the house does not have a kitchen. Each room has a mini fridge and Keurig machine, with the exception of Suite 7, which shares amenities with Suite 6.*
Suite 1:
Suite 1 is our largest suite and is accessed through the living room space. With soft pink fabrics, gold accents and a private bathroom.
Suite 2:
Suite 2 is one of our grandest rooms, with a canopy queen-sized bed, reading nook and a private bathroom. Pen your next novel from the writing desk, or lower your aspirations and just enjoy a drink chilled from your mini fridge.
Suite 3:
Our most private suite is tucked around the side of the house, with its own private entrance and side porch. This suite is ADA compliant, with a ramp to the front door and fully accessible bathroom. Cozy and quaint, it's perfect for a quiet night away.
Suite 4:
Overlooking the taproom and front yard, Suite 4 features a full wall of windows, with loads of natural light when you want it, and curtains for when you want privacy. The reading nook is great for rainy days or quiet mornings. The queen size bed is plush and comfy.
Suite 5:
Suite 5 is located on the second floor of the house, overlooking our working farm. The room features a comfortable and plush queen size bed, a vintage country rocking chair, and a guitar. The bathroom is spacious with a walk-in shower.
Suite 6:
The bedroom is spacious and comfortable, with a queen size bed and locally found antique furniture and finishes.
Suite 7:
Suite 7 features two twin beds, rattan-style furniture, and a bright, colorful palate. Please note that this room does not include a mini fridge or Keurig machine.
Suites 6 + 7 share a modern, spacious bathroom complete with a clawfoot tub, gold accents, and amazing natural light. These suites are located on the second floor, up one flight of stairs from the lobby.
Suite 8:
Affectionately referred to as the Writer's Nest, Suite 8 is a secluded space situated on the third floor of the house. It features a window seat overlooking the front yard, a plush and comfy queen size bed, and a writing desk tucked in the corner. The private bathroom features a classic clawfoot tub and brass accents.
Please note that Suite 8 is accessed by a very narrow staircase on the third floor of the building. It may not be ideal for guests with accessibility concerns or a significant amount of luggage.
Guest access
When you pull into the property, follow the gravel road up the hill to the left. You'll find a gravel parking area on the left side of the house.
