Hidden from the outside world lies our Yurt, in our large tree-rich city garden, in the eastpart of Enschede, with two private terraces to enjoy the garden. It has great decorations, a woodstove and infrared heater, amenities for work (wifi,
computertable) and a kitchenette, The guest-bathroom (with bathtub) is in the main house and directly accessible from the garden. you'll be close to the city center and also to the beautiful countryside, with free parking in front of the house.
The space
This Mongolian yurt lies hidden in our fenced city garden, surrounded by trees. Our garden is like a world in itself, well-kept with lots of greens.
This Yurt was made in Mongolis. It offers an adventurous and otherworldly stay. Think of 'glamping'- a little more primitive then a hotel, but beautiful and provided with anything you might need (including firewood, candles and incense). The floor and interior decorations are vintage - you may see traces of usage but it's all clean. We maximized the comfort-level with all kinds of little extra's. Precautipns against unwanted insects are in place as well.
Heating and cooling:
The Yurt had a double Layer insulation with thick layers of natural wool-felt, made of goat- sheep and camel's hair. It keeps relatively cool in the summer and warm in the winter, also because it's protected by trees. It's heated by an electric heater and also the woodstove can be heated when the weather is cold. We have winter- and summer-duvets. The winter-duvets are suitable even for unheated bedrooms in the winter.
Amenities:
The Yurt has a comfortable king-size bed with very thick down and feather duvets, bathrobes and slippers for the nightly walk. The Yurt has electricity, it's own WIFI, a kitchenette with cold running water and a water-cooker (for hot water), a gas stove with 2 burners, a small fridge and everything you need for coffee/tea and cooking like pots and pans, plates/cutlery, coffee, tea, oil, vinegar and kitchen herbs, candles, a hair dryer etc. Under the bed and in some closets, youll find storage space for your belongings. The yurt is fit for two guests - the couch can be unfolded as a second bed, but it takes up a lot of floorspace. When needed, this is best done right before going to sleep.
Outdoors:
In front of the yurt there's a small private seating area outside, also behing the yurt there's a seating area with chairs and one hanging chair suspended to a big treebranch. There's a small sauna-building, here you'll find pillows for the chairs and you can use it for smoking, should it rain. Both these area's are exclusive for yurt-guests - in the front of the garden there's also a picknick-table for all to use.
Bathroom:
The guest-bathroom is has a bathtub-for-two, an extra shower-cabin, a toilet, sink and a washing machine. You may share it with Cabin-guests (max 4, if there are any). When needed our own bathroom is available as well. The bathroom is 25 meters from the yurt - there's bathrobes and slippers for the nightly walk. (tip: have them ready by your bedside). From the yurt you can see if it's occupied (by the lights near the bathroom door).
We offer the following extra's:
- a basic free breakfast for 1 night (yoghurt/cruesli) or a luxury breakfast (8,50 euro pp) with fresh buns, fresh orange juice, assorted jams/cheeses, boiled egg, fruit etc.
- assorted drinks in a fridge on the premises (1,50 - 4,- ), o.a. soda's, wine and special beers
- bicycles (7,50 pp/pd) and also 2 ATB's (12,50 pp/pd), they can be rented for the whole day on your arrival- or departure day
bicycles and breakfast are best reserved before you arrive.
Bikes are great for cruising the beautiful Dutch/German countryside, after booking I'll send you a travel guide with many tips for going outdoors or in the city.
Pets and animals
We have chickens and pheasants. Dogs are very wellcome when on a leesh. If your dog is afraid of chickens, let us know then we keep them inside.
About noise:
bypassing and residing neighbors can't see us, but they can hear us (and vice versa). The street is a quiet one, but every now and then you might hear a car or someone walking their dog, even though the atmosphere in the garden much like in a real forest. Across the street there's a 10 m. deep slope where the slow train to Gronau is running. It might be heard sometimes - it sounds much like a ghust of wind and sometimes we don't hear it for weeks, but you might notice it. And the male pheasant sometimes gives its yell
Eventually it's possible to rent both the Yurt and the Cabin, when you plan far enough ahead. For example when traveling with two couples or as a family with older kids. Please contact me if you're interested in this option.
Guest access
After entering the gate, you pass our house, a pond and a Nortern Cabin (also on Airbnb) untill you reach the Yurt, in the back of the garden. Cabin-guests don't come near the yurt, except for when they use the sauna which is behind the yurt. When going to the yurt, you'll also pass a picknick-set, a pond and a fire-place. All garden area's are accessible.
We have a luxurious guest-bathroom - it has a twinsize bathtub, a shower-cabin, toilet, sink and a washing-machine. The bathroom door is on the outside of the house. In the mainhouse kitchen there's a dryer and a microwave, should you need one. Smoking is allowed outside, in the garden and around the seats in front of the yurt and another one behind it. The washing-machine in the bathroom is also used by your hosts, for the B&B. The guest-bathroom is shared with cabin-guests, if necessary our own bathroom is available as well. It's straight behind the backdoor.
Other things to note
We have feasants (caged) and chickens that can roam free. Your pet is welcome, please use the line and if necessary we put the chickens inside.
The garden has a serene atmosphere, but you might hear a car sometimes or the passing train, though most of the time the wind is favorable. You'll hear the feasants yell, at most two or three times a day. In high summer sometimes there’s a party somewhere in the neighborhood.
Our neighbors are relatively distant and they can't see us, but they do hear us...
You're welcome to spend the evening outside. but we can't have music in the garden (acoustic guitar excepted) and after ten o'clock, the volume needs to be shut down (thank you).
The yurt is made of wool and less suitable for people who’s respiratory system is very sensitive or allergic.
Massage is great and I encourage it, but I ask you to bring your own (BIG) towels, to preventie oil stains in the bedding.
When using the woodstove we try to prevent smoke as much as possible, for the neighbors. Before lighting the woodstove, please take your time to read the instructions for heating.
