Hidden from the outside world lies this Yurt, in our large city garden, in the eastpart of Enschede. It’s close to the city center and also to the beautiful countryside. It has great decoration, a woodstove, amenities for work (wifi,
computertable), kitchenette, and seats outside to enjoy the garden. The guest-bathroom (with bathtub) in the main house, 25 meters from the yurt. There's free parking in front of the house.

The space
This Mongolian yurt lies hidden in our city garden, surrounded by trees. After entering the gate, you pass our house, a pond and a Nortern Cabin untill you reach it in the back of the garden. The Cabin can be rented out as well (to max 4 guests).

As artists, we lived in this Yurt for a year and now we like to share it! It's a world apart, comfortable also in wintertimes. The woodstove provides much heat and is kept glowing during the night with coal briquettes (which are provided). Life in the yurt is probably more primitive than you're used to, but the atmosphere is great and we maximized the comfort-level with all kinds of little extra's. The Yurt has good insulation, electricity, it's own WIFI and ethernet, a kitchenette with cold running water, a water-cooker (for hot water), a gas stove (with 2 burners), a small fridge and everything you need for coffee/tea and cooking like pots and pans, plates/cutlery, coffee, tea, oil, vinegar and kitchen herbs. You'll also find a hair dryer. The Yurt has a small private seating area outside for a smoke or to enjoy the garden, and a picknick-table for all to use. Most things that you use in the yurt are vintage. The kingsize bed is dressed with two single duvets (normal ones, and really big feather duvet's for the winter). Under the bed, youll find storage space for your belongings. The guest-bathroom is has a bathtub-for-two, an extra shower-cabin, a toilet, sink and a washing machine. You may share it with Cabin-guests (max 4, if there are any). The bathroom is 25 meters from the yurt - there's bathrobes and slippers for the nightly walk. (tip: have them ready by your bedside) and from the yurt you can see if it's occupied (by the lights near the bathroom door). In the garden, there's an exta picknick-table and here you can enjoy the pond, the birds, pheasants and the general atmosphere. You're welcome to spend the evening in the garden, but only without music (acoustic guitars excepted)
We have 4 touringbikes at hand, to rent out to our guests (7,50 pp/pd) and also 2 ATB's (12,50 pp/pd), make a reservation if you want to be sure they're available). Bikes are great for cruising the beautiful Dutch/German countryside, where we know our way around and tell you about if you like. There's a wild side to the cultural life in Enschede, which is much connected to nature, and this is part of our lifestyle. Eventually we'll recommend the best hiking areas or a suitable movie to enhance the experience of your stay.
Breakfast:
I provide a free rudimentary breakfast of yoghurt and crunchy muesli for the first night and a large, full breakfast is served for 8,50 euro pp, at your request.

About silence: bypassing and residing neighbors can't see us, but they can hear us (and vice versa). The street is a quiet one, but every now and then you might hear a car or someone walking the dog, even though the atmosphere in the garden is as good as a forest. Across the street there's a 10 m. deep slope where the slow train to Gronau is running. It might be heard sometimes - it sounds much like a ghust of wind and sometimes we don't hear it for weeks.

Eventually it's possible to rent both the Yurt and the Cabin, when you plan far enough ahead. For example when traveling with two couples or as a family with older kids. Please contact me if you're interested in this option.

Velve-Lindenhof is a typical working class neighborhood. Our house is one of the first built in this neighborhood and our garden is so big that you will only notice the rest of the world after leaving through the gate. Our street is very green, with houses only on one side: it's next to a lowered railroad, with lots of trees, birds, squirrels, owls and other animals. There's not much noise from the trains though, they sound a gust of wind every now and then. We're close to the city center but also to the beautiful countryside - both are ten minutes by bike away. The gardens and forest of Castle Hooge Boekel can be reached by foot. We're close to the German border and there are great nature reserves around which we like to tell you about. We have three extra bicycles for rent (two male, onee female). Eventually you can hire e-bikes (delivered to the door). Several supermarkets are near and open untill 22.00. In our yurt, city life is near but you can also enjoy nature, full privacy and a unique atmosphere away from the city.

I'm an artist and together with my partner (artist and theatre technician) we turned our garden into a fairy-tale-like small village where we love to be and host our guests, and where our guests can privately enjoy a unique atmosphere. We know the countryside around our house very well and will be happy to tell you about it.

During your stay

We can't always be at home, therefore we have a keyvault at the gate so you can let yourself in anytime. But we usually are (at home), sometimes working but always available if you need anything (like a cup of sugar). We know the surroundings very well and will share this information with you, or recommend a movie (there's a beamer in the yurt, with a big screen!) . You can keep it as private or sociable as you like, and we rest between 22.00 and 8.30
You can also book us for extra activities, like a painting course, a guided hike or a canoe-trip. Please ask us for details on that.
