The Bohemian Firehouse was the living quarters for the men stationed there when it was built in 1916. It sits above a retail space which housed the firetruck. The charming brick building is in near original condition, despite surviving a major flood and a derecho. You'll love the gorgeous woodwork, vintage tile and light fixtures. But you'll appreciate some modern touches like air conditioning, an updated kitchen and smart tv. Still, it's easy to imagine the stories these walls could tell.

The space
The second floor apartment was the living quarters for the 4 fireman on duty at anytime. It features warm wood floors, and lots of windows (privacy blinds on all windows). The modern kitchenette has a full size refrigerator, microwave and cooktop (no oven). It is well equipped with everything you may need for a weekend or a week. There is a coffee cart with Keurig, coffee pods and tea. There is also a Brita filtered water pitcher in the refrigerator.
The ample bathroom has vintage tile, and built in lockers for each fireman. We’ve converted one of these into a micro museum of historic firehouse memorabilia.
You'll love the light, open living/sleeping area overlooking the Newbo Market district. The king size bed has a luxurious memory foam mattress, beneath a mural of the 1890s firehouse team. The living area sports a stylish leather sofa which opens up to a very comfortable queen size bed. You'll love the historic firehouse touches, such as the trap door for the original fire pole, still visible in the front corner of the lower level.

Guest access
The guest will have sole use of the entire upstairs apartment, which is accessed through an interior hallway shared with the shop below.

Other things to note
The Bohemian Firehouse sits atop a retail store, in the hip NewBo district. Because of its proximity to everything (restaurants, bars, live music), there is the potential for some noise. For this reason, we have provided a white noise machine in the sleeping area, as well as complimentary ear plugs. You probably won’t need them, but they’re here if you do. We also ask that you respect our friends downstairs by refraining from excessive noise. Thank you!
Also, due to space limitations and trying to preserve the historical integrity of the building, there are no laundry facilities on site.
