If you'd like to unplug and spend time on a Kansas Farm, this place is for you! The original 100 year old farmhouse has been modernized to make the place feel cozy, yet still has its original charm. There is plenty of land to enjoy a peaceful walk, play games, star gaze, or start the firepit in our quaint tree grove.

Conveniently located on 75 hwy, this would be a great place to stay if you are visiting Melvern or Pomona Lake, traveling through, or just want to get out of the city!

The space
ADDITIONAL SLEEP OPTIONS: Although we say the house holds 6 guests, you are welcome to sleep 2 more, if you'd like to use the two futons in our sitting room.

WALKING TRAIL: There is a walking path that you can take around the property which will take you through the walnut trees, cedar trees, and down the farmstead road which includes the views of farmland and a couple old barns. This is still an operating farm so please stay within mowed areas or directly on the path of the trail map (which we provide upon your arrival).

CAMPFIRE/PICNIC: The walnut tree grove, nestled near the house, comes with a fire pit and log benches for your s'mores and memorable campfire adventures! There is a stack of firewood behind the garage you are welcome to use. We also have patio lights hanging from all the trees--which create a beautiful ambiance after the sun goes down--that can be plugged in on the light pole near the garage.

GRILLING: We have a charcoal grill located in the garage. Bring your charcoal and lighter fluid and get grilling!

Where you’ll be

Scranton, Kansas, United States

Eleanor's is conveniently located 25 minutes south of Topeka on 75 Hwy, however you still get the experience of seclusion and plenty of room to play outdoors with the wooded area surrounding the property.

In addition to the two local lakes, Lyndon is 8 miles south and a quaint little town worth visiting! There is a modern coffee house (True Brew) and bookstore (Chapters Bookstore), along with plenty of places to eat--Mexican, BBQ Bar, Diner and Pizza place. There are several General stores and a local grocery store less than 10 min away. If you venture to Melvern Lake, we recommend you make a reservation at the Blue Canoe restaurant in the neat town of Melvern.

I was born and raised on a Kansas farm, and now married to a farmer and mother of 4. I was able to start my dream of breathing life into a neighboring farmstead previously owned by Eleanor and Walter. After renovating the house, my hope is to make the farm available for people to come, enjoy, and share the experiences I savored during my childhood: wide open spaces, unplugging from worldly distractions and enjoying simple/quiet pleasures of the country. In addition to renting the house, we host weddings and events throughout the year, our most popular being our annual Sunflower Field viewing, around Labor Day, in one of the nearby fields on our farm.
