What a beautiful and calm place this is! And the staff so welcoming. Birds mongoose, and monkeys. Oh my! We could have easily stayed longer. Basic and comfortable.

What a great value. I liked the somewhat remote location on the tank. A bike rental got me in to town and to the ancient sites. My room (Adina) was basic and comfortable. The bathroom was very good. I didn't see any monkeys at the camp, but after a month in Sri Lanka, I've…

Dear Mr. Mark Maxwell, Thank you for your amazing review. We appreciate it whole heartedly. My staff said you travel a lot, please do come visit us again. You are lucky to see that many elephants in Kaudulla : around this time of the year it's always a gamble. But rains are…

One of the more interesting AirBnB stays during my travels in Sri Lanka. The research centre is situated lakeside and within short distance to the archaeological sites (bikes can be rented here). While it was quiet during my stay, the staff and other researchers were both…

Although our stay was short, we truly appreciate the warm welcome we received. The room was as described and we LOVE the food prepared by the cook who was generous and attentive.

Monkey camp is located away from the main town area and is located in a property that is forested. Very peaceful and quiet at night. I also signed on for a night spotting activity held at that property, we saw 6 slow loris, a mouse deer and several sleeping bird species. Great…

The place make you really experience the life of primate researchers and help you to understand a lot about monkeys. If you like nature and animals, you should stay there. It is maybe not the most luxurious hotel you would find in the area, but their project deserve our support!

I fell in love with Polonnaruwa and it's population of toque macaques and the other two langurs as soon as I'd finished the first session in the field one weekend 15 years ago. It's been the jungles: monkeys, birds and other animals which took most of my interest. We own and…
Interaction with guests
We have 3 of our research staff working full time at the camp as well as Professor Wolfgang Dittus who is the biologist with the Smithsonian Institution of the USA who is behind our project. We have a few help staff who cleans and cooks during the day. The research staff are…
