Otter Escape is perfectly located on a quiet cul-de-sac only 450 steps from the beach. Our home is spacious inside and out. Main floor master has a king bed, master bath with shower and soaking tub. Two upstairs bedrooms, each with a queen size bed, a private bath and a TV in each bedroom. Open space living and dining area join a fully stocked kitchen that leaves nothing to be desired. Enjoy the lulling sounds of the ocean while deer watching on both the front and back decks.

The space
After a fun day at the beach, Otter Escape offers a calm that allows you to unwind and relax so you are ready for the following day. The front porch is a peaceful place to enjoy an evening beverage and watch the deer as they come out from hiding when they sense the islanders are beginning to go inside. Our Club Indigo, a screened in area under the house, is a fun space to play board games, eat alfresco or to simply chat about the days events and plan your adventures for tomorrow.

Our house is available May - October with a minimum 3 day- and maximum 28 day stay. Check in days are Sunday-Friday. The entire house is yours to enjoy during your stay with the exception of the Owner closets that are locked.

Other things to note
We provide pillows, blankets and spreads. Edistoessentials.com can provide you with sheets and towels if you don’t want to pack your own. They can also deliver bikes, golf carts, beach umbrellas and beach chairs right to the house. Please call at least 2 weeks in advance to make arrangements.

Life is very relaxed here on Edisto Island. Nothing is fancy and everything is lovely. You can view the most magnificent sunrise in the morning and catch our breathtaking sunsets at the far end of Palmetto Blvd in the evening. Everyone is friendly and no one is in a hurry. We love the lack of commercialization on our island and the residents here strive to keep it that way.

Although we have a limited number of restaurants on Edisto you can count on excellent food at all of them for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Neighborhood highlights

The location of Otter Escape is ideal. We are at the end of a block that has no outlet. Traffic is pretty much limited to people exploring the island in golf carts or on bikes. We are 8 blocks from the beginning of our quaint beach town so a trip to the local restaurants and shops can easily be accomplished on foot. In fact, if you love to walk, you can get just about everywhere on Edisto Beach on foot and most certainly on a bike.

Surf fishing here on Edisto or pier fishing at Folly Beach or Mt Pleasant is also available in addition to many boat excursions from the marina as well as many fishing charters. There are lots of fish in our ocean and tidal creeks.
An hour before low tide head to Botany Bay plantation and seashore on Edisto for a very special side trip. On your way stop and wander through several of our historic cemeteries associated with our many beautiful churches.

Historic Charleston and its’ amazing restaurants are an hour away as are several plantations worth exploring. In just a little over an hour you can access Mt Pleasant where there is no shortage of things to keep you entertained. Plan to stop on the dock and purchase your shrimp and return to Otter Escape to make the freshest and best shrimp dinner ever.

In South Carolina we have another home where I roam miles of pristine beaches on Edisto Island at Edisto Beach. This sweet island is one of the few barrier islands remaining that has resisted commercialization. Only 40 minutes south of beautiful and historic Charleston, our Edisto Island home, Otter Escape, is also available for your rental pleasure.
