The space
What to expect? Very unique accommodations - This rental is an entire residence and multi-use space and includes 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a full kitchen, living and dining spaces, and a large screened porch...

Regarding our single beds described in the bedrooms, they are deluxe comfy camping beds that we can pull out - with pads, clean linens, blankets and pillows. For those groups larger than a couple, it's “glamping” inside a large piece of folk art.

The Folk Art Honky Tonk is at the center of Cajun and Creole culture, only minutes away from the prairie lands and bayous to the Atchafalaya basin and beyond. Why stay in a boring hotel when you can save money and experience a unique and authentic cultural & artistic environment? Don't hesitate, book now.

Our guests are completely independent. We welcome them and strive to make their stay and local experience memorable and comfortable. We respect their privacy, as we expect them to respect ours.

We live in an area that is highly populated by artists and we love having many artists as neighbors.

We are in the countryside of historic St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. We are the perfect outpost - a cultural crossroad - between Austin/Houston/Dallas and New Orleans. The Folk Art Honky Tonk is set way back off a small country highway and surrounded by farmland, so it is often very quiet - except for the birds, the occasional cow bellow, or farm equipment at work.

We have many artists come up from New Orleans to get away and experience rural Acadiana and its inspiring creative energy.

We will let our guests express their experiences:

"We have been raving about our stay since we left. They immediately gave us fantastic selections for places to go in the area. They made sure we were happy with our accommodations. They kept in contact while giving us all the privacy we needed."

"Jim and Christy are the most wonderful hosts. They are truly ambassadors of the area."

"Jim and Christy are warm, welcoming, and love having people over. Their house gorgeous like out of a movie."

"Truly why we love airbnb. Locals who show their lives and make you a part of it. One of those never to forget travel experiences. Definitely go and get a deep dive Louisiana experience!"

"We like to think Airbnb was created for these kind of accommodations. The location is wonderful but the best part is the hosts. Jim and Christy are amazing people who provide their wary travelers with everything they could hope for. We can advise you this: Go! You will forever remember the experience!"

"Jim and Christy are absolute gems. As hosts, they do everything you can ask for and more - they provide you with the true South Louisiana experience. Regardless of if you're staying in the house, the barn, or the Whirlybird, you're in for a treat."

"Wonderful outpost to explore the best of Cajun land, or simply rest at home and take in peace and quiet in an inspired and thoughtfully created residence."

"To say that Jim and Christy are wonderful people would be an understatement. Their property is beautiful and you can tell they really care about preserving the houses and land."

"Jim and Christy are at the core of the local community and are very generous in sharing their time and experiences. You really couldn't hope for better hosts!"

"The house and the grounds are magical."

The property The Folk Honky Tonk sits on - Stonewood - is a grand farm house built in the late 1800's by one of two brothers who founded a local hospital. It was originally over 200 acres of agricultural land. Maison Stonewood was separated on 5 acres and the agricultural property was sold - but the 200 acres of agricultural land is still part of a working farm with vegetable production and cattle. All the original farm land surrounds Stonewood, protecting the rural atmosphere. The Folk Honky Tonk is set way back off the small country highway, so it is very quiet. We live in an area that is highly populated by artists and we love having many artists as neighbors.

A Tesla Destination Charger, the first Electric vehicle charging station in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana is only 18 miles away at 501 Old Spanish Trail, Scott, LA.

Hi, what can we say about ourselves? We are folk artists and educators who think big - and think big about fun. We are creating a sustainable cultural/educational compound, where all sorts of meaningful and fun events take place. During Covid, we are working hard to maintain safe, independent, socially isolated and private places for folks to get away, relax, get recharged - or work - all with peace of mind. We are committed to Airbnb’s new cleaning and sanitizing protocols. Read our reviews to find out what kind of experiences our guests find once they book with us. Welcome.
