Interaction with Guests
The managers Manuel or Carrie will arrange to come by and attend to the garden when it is good for you.
The neighborhood is a mix of houses, cabins, little stores, and wooded lots. The neighbors are friendly, yet respectful of privacy. At first it may look off-putting if you expect to see hotels and fancy houses. It is a real local Mexican/Mayan neighborhood with families.
Expect to see lots of children and animals on the streets, street vendors, and an occasional rooster.
Walk to town in a few minutes, drive to beaches in 5 minutes, or ride our bikes. Local stores and veggie stands are around the block, and taxis pass by on the corner. Downtown you can take the "collective" vans around the Mayan Riviera (also called "combis") The ADO bus station is a 10 minute walk or quick taxi ride. Cancun airport is 1.5 hours drive north.

The host was super helpful is providing both information and assistance. When we had questions or issues she responded within the hour which was extremely helpful. Her friend Manuel was more than helpful, and even got us a 3rd bike with lock when he realized there were three of us. The water heater was a bit of a trick to figure out, but once we did we had hot showers the whole time. It's in a neighborhood so there will be neighborly noise and neighborly cats. We found earplugs to be great when we really needed a good night sleep. There was plenty of water to drink, and easy access to stores. All in all a great stay. The screened in porch will be your favorite for sure.
We had a great at the house. The photos show exactly how it is and there were no surprises. It's a simple bike ride into town or enjoyable walk where you really feel as if you are part of the real mexico. Tulum is an amazing town with great restaurants and bars. Highly recommend staying here. The beach is a good 30 minute bike ride or a quick and cheap taxi ride. We would definitely stay here again!
Casa Pastel and Stefani provided an a wonderful and authentic Tulum experience. The house was very clean, private and we felt very safe at all times. Casa Pastel is located in Tulum town about a 25 minute bike ride from the beach (two well maintained bikes and locks come with the house rental) and a five minute walk to the bus station and main street of town with restaurants and shops. Staying at Casa Pastel in Tulum town is an excellent alternative to staying on the beach as it will still let you experience the daily life of Tulum and also provide privacy and seclusion when you need it. The neighborhood is safe and filled with friendly local fruit and vegetable vendors where we shopped for our groceries.
Stefani was always available and quick to respond through emails with questions we had and provided extremely thorough instructions for the house and helpful information about the town, how to get around, as well as wonderful local knowledge about restaurants and places to visit. The house manager Manuel was equally friendly and helpful.
This Air B and B experience was incredibly smooth, easy, safe and fun. Highly recommended.
Casa Pastel is set up for everything you need for a quiet, relaxing holiday - with access to vibrant Tulum town and a 10 minute bike ride to the beaches. Stephanie is a pleasure to work with, was available for any questions, and is very knowledgeable of the area. This casa is the perfect place for a week to turn your phone off, forget what what time it is (day it is?) - and just relax. Bikes are included, the town is closeby. Simply put, the outdoor patio and kitchen is marvelous, and we could have spent the entire week just hanging out there. Great value, great owner/operator and awesome, authentic Tulum experience.
