The Space

We are 15 minutes drive from Dublin Airport using the M50, located directly beside the N4 which is the motor way to both the West of Ireland ( Galway, Mayo, Sligo etc.), N6, and the Midlands, and with easy access to the N7 as the route to Waterford, Limerick, Cork etc.

Lucan Village with its many cafes, restaurants and food serving Irish pubs is less than 5 minutes walk. Also within 5 minutes walk from the house are Bus Stops travelling to Dublin City Centre (20 minutes by bus) and a number of different Shopping Centre Complexes. At the house there is plenty of parking space.

The house is ideally suited to Families, but also very comfortable for just Adults as the bedrooms are comfortable, quite pretty and you are welcome to enjoy your privacy in the Guest Sitting Room' which is especially cosy with an open fire.

For breakfast at the weekends we will offer you French Toast, Scrambled Egg, courtesy of the 4 Feathered Ladies in the Garden who lay us lovely eggs every morning, with Home made Smoothies and Soda Bread.During weekdays we will leave you to help yourselves with a variety of foods and access to the kitchen if you wish to have a hot breakfast. We are happy for you to relax in our sunny Kitchen with plenty of coffee in the morning time. If you are lucky, Oscar our 10 year old "Masterchef" will have made you biscuits or fairy cakes to have alongside!

Of course you are also welcome to have breakfast by the fire in the Guest Sitting Room .

If you want to enjoy a little of what Dublin has to offer it may be possible to arrange babysitting at a low cost.

Cot Beds, Steriliser etc. are available for Babies. If you have babies please contact me prior to making a booking, as I will offer you a reduced price.

Bedroom 1 has a double bed and additional single bed if required, with an en-suite shower room.
Bedroom 2 has a double bed and private guest bathroom on the corridor. Both rooms are airy and bright with full linen ,towels and basic toiletries supplied.
Sharing the double beds will allow accommodation of 5 people in total.

Wi Fi is available and you are welcome to use the computer in the house.. There is a basket in the Bedrooms with lots of Tourist Information, Day Trips etc etc available for you to plan your holiday.
Our house is a 200 year old farmhouse which we extended and renovated 6 years ago so it is now an interesting mixture of old and new. Our children are equally welcoming to guests with new children to play with and to adults who want to enjoy a city break in Dublin.

Most of our guests avail of an organised taxi to get to our home from Dublin Airport or the Ferry Ports. This is easily arranged and we are happy to help. Generally the taxi driver charges € 30 which is very reasonable.

  • Siobhan and her family warmly welcomed us. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. They provided a very generous breakfast to fuel us for days of sightseeing. The location was close to the bus into central Dublin (which was handy given high parking costs in the city). We could also buy food and pharmacy supplies locally and there were several pubs close by at which to eat.

The area was very attractive and friendly.

We were glad of their advice regarding transport and appreciated the local knowledge about Gaelic football and hurling.

  • This was my second stay with Siobhan and family, and just as enjoyable as the first. (See my earlier review for further comments).

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at A LIttle Bit of Country in the City. Siobhan and her husband were excellent hosts and the lodgings were as described on the website. Walking to the village for dinner or to catch a bus into the city, playing with the dog, watching the pheasant in the back of the house - it all made our stay pleasant.

  • As we’d had a really nice time at Siobhann’s home months ago we decided to go back for a second time. What more can I say? This time we went with some friends. Breakfast is delicious; the rooms are comfortable and cozy. We spent a very pleasant time there. Siobhan and her family are fantastic host, they are absolutely kindness and confidence. I guess we’ll see again!

  • Siobhan and her family were wonderful to stay with because they were friendly and welcoming. Siobhan made delicious breakfast for us every morning. It was like staying in the Ritz Carlton hotel, only better! Their lovely family dog was always ready to have fun and was a real part of the family. We really enjoyed our stay with Siobhan and her family and are definitely coming back because we loved it! The location was very convenient because the the supermarket was just up the road and the village was just down the road! It was perfect for our family, not only because it was comfortable and clean, but also because our children were able to interact and play with the boys. We will be back and fully recommend it, especially for small families!

  • I enjoyed my 2-night stay with Siobhan and family. The house is really interesting in design and furnishing. With four schoolboys there is always plenty going on - but the house is large and I did not find it noisy or intrusive, overall I had a relaxing. stay. Siobhan provides a great breakfast, and Lucan village is just a short walk down the road for a choice of pubs/eateries. I would recommend this host to other guests, and intend to book it again on a future trip.

  • What an absolute delight to have our introduction to air B and B and indeed Ireland with a 3 night stay at the Fairy House. Siobhan and Keith and their beautiful family welcomed us to their stunning home and did more than we ever expected from incredible breakfasts to letting us do some laundry and even advice on where to go in Dublin. Their home offered us the retreat we needed after all the madness of the build up to St Patricks celebrations in Dublin..so much so that we opted to spend the next day exploring Lucan village and surrounds instead of venturing back into Dublin. Again, from our family to yours..thanks a million. Margaret, Meghann and Amara Carty, Australia

  • Siobhan and her family live in a little village on the outskirts of Dublin city. You can get regular buses to the city center at the bus stop five minutes away from their lovely house.
The whole family are great and the house is awesome.

  • We stayed in Fairy House with our three young kids for a week. Siobhan and Keith were exceptional hosts who went beyond our expectations at every turn. The rooms were perfect! The beds were comfortable, warm and cozy. Their kids were a joy and became great friends. We would stay again without a second thought and recommend them to everyone. Those that stay at 'Fairy House' will experience a charmed visit of Dublin. Our children were sad to leave.
