Tucked back in on 22 acres of forest along the Little Ivy Creek, this stunning chalet strikes a harmony between classic mountain charm and luxury. Yes, there’s a cozy fireplace and exposed wood beam ceiling—but there’s also pottery from Dubai, artwork from Phuket Island in Thailand and a handcrafted Japanese dragon chair. Curious? Come stay with us and explore the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains—we’re just minutes from music, culture, countless local farms, and endless outdoor excitement.

The space
Add the Travelers Way Chalet to your wishlist by clicking the ♥ in upper-right hand corner.

At Travelers Way Chalet, extraordinary details are hidden in plain sight. Sheep’s fur from Romania and artwork from Beijing grace the master suite. Puerto Rican sea fans hang above the guest bed. Furniture handmade in Kabul adorns the living area. And keep an eye out for a tapestry knitted in Egypt by a man the homeowner met over a game of chess.

These appointments all tell their own stories. And amidst them, there’s plenty of space for you to create a story of your own. Gather with friends and family to make memories in an inviting living area, where you can enjoy sunshine and greenery views by day and a warm stone fireplace by night.

Update: Now you can relax down by the creek, check out the stars at night or prepare some delicious smores in and around our newly added tripod Cowboy Cauldron FirePit.

With a full suite of modern appliances, including a smart Samsung refrigerator along with elegant marble countertops, the kitchen is just as suited for whipping up meals as it is for relaxing over a glass of wine. Fresh ingredients are easy to come by in this agriculturally rich stretch of the Blue Ridge—get creative with your cooking, then find your favorite spot to picnic.

This mountain chalet is also an ideal spot to find a change of scenery for work-from-home life. Set your laptop up on the grand kitchen island, Zoom from the couch, or check your emails alfresco on the spacious deck.

When it’s time to rest, find total peace in a master suite with a top-of-the-line king-size Nectar mattress—you’ll sleep better here than you do at home. The master also has its own luxury en-suite bath with steam shower. A queen-size guest bedroom offers privacy for two more guests and its own adjacent bathroom.

And that’s just inside. Wander out the back door and discover 22 lush acres bordered by Little Ivy Creek, the lifeblood that flows through western North Carolina’s farmlands.

Neighborhood highlights

Welcome to Mars Hill, North Carolina. Just 8 minutes away from Travelers Way Chalet is a charming downtown that’s home to Mars Hill University as well as a rich musical history: this is the birthplace of folk musician Bascom Lamar Lunsford, the “minstrel of the Appalachians.” Here you’ll find restaurants and shops, and several theaters where the tradition of Appalachian music thrives. On a clear day, you’ll even be able to spot Mount Mitchell.

Madison County is home to 55,000 acres of National Forest and endless opportunities for adventure: from gem mining to golfing, hiking and fly fishing to hot spring swimming, horseback riding to whitewater rafting. Within 20 miles you’ll find two of western NC’s best spots for outdoor action. Zip downhill at Bailey Mountain Bike Park, or hit the slopes at Wolf Ridge Ski Resort. The Appalachian Trail runs through this neck of the woods, too, so be sure to bring your hiking boots.

The area’s agricultural roots make it a perfect destination for scenery seekers and foodies alike: spend afternoons on idyllic drives from farm to farm, or see what local chefs create with the harvest at an array of farm-to-table restaurants. And if you’re looking for even more excitement, the city of Asheville is just 18 miles away.
