Cozy cabin in the woods of Hoot Owl Hollow. Walking distance from Mentone's shops & restaurants & Brow Park. 1.8 miles from DeSoto Falls, 5.9 miles from DeSoto State Park, & 12 miles from Little River Canyon. Let us know if you have a larger group we have 2 other cabins on property.

The space
Warm and welcoming, Hootin’ Henri offers a comfortable, easy layout designed for relaxed mountain stays. The living area includes a small but thoughtfully equipped kitchen with full-sized refrigerator, stove, and microwave — perfect for simple meals.

Each bedroom has access to its own private bath, one with a walk-in shower and the other with a shower/tub combination. Guests consistently comment on the super-comfy beds.

Outside, enjoy the rock patio with Weber charcoal grill, outdoor firepit (firewood provided), hammock, and seating area — a favorite spot for morning coffee or quiet evenings under the trees.

Tucked into the woods yet within walking distance of downtown Mentone, Henri offers both nature and convenience.

Guests have full access to the entire cabin, private outdoor areas, and surrounding yard.

Hoot Owl Hollow spans 12 acres — six acres surrounding the cabins and an additional six wooded acres behind them. A small bridge crosses a seasonal creek, and a simple walking trail leads into the woods for those who’d like to explore.

A shared laundry room is available for guests of all three cabins and includes a washer, dryer, iron, and ironing board. The laundry room is located just past The Nest (the last cabin), on the left side of the owner’s garage. We use a PURE WASH O3 system for environmentally friendly cleaning; instructions are posted inside.

Other things to note
Hootin’ Henri is one of three cabins at Hoot Owl Hollow, situated on 12 wooded acres within walking distance of downtown Mentone.

We live on the property in a separate home nearby, with trees and natural landscaping between the houses. Our two friendly dogs, Dear Abby (flat-coated retriever) and Gumbo (black lab), may greet guests — mostly from afar.

This is a natural wooded setting, so we recommend wearing shoes outdoors.

If you’re quiet, you may hear Barred Owls at night. Deer, turkey, groundhog, and other wildlife frequently pass through the woods.

Neighborhood highlights

The neighborhood is a mixture of second homes, residents & some rentals. Neighbors are friendly & quiet. You can walk to "town" but not much is open during the week. On Saturdays walk to Farmer's Market for fresh eggs, veggies, fruit!

We love that nature is honored here. This sweet town is quiet. If you need a lot of distractions there are plenty...but they aren't flashy...they are natural.
This is a place where you take the time to notice the little things: mushrooms appearing out of the earth, the sound of the birds, the architecture of moss. This is a place to reconnect to the nature and appreciate her wisdom. This simple act nourishes your soul. You will return home feeling revived.

Hoot Owl Hollow — 3 artsy cabins on 12 magical acres in downtown Mentone, AL — is my favorite creation. I live here with my black lab, Goofy-Goofy Gumbo, and our parakeet, Puppy Bird. When the owls hoot at night, Gumbo hollers back. All three cabins are pet friendly. Hope to host you soon! A few favorite places: Kauai, Turkey, Paris, San Miguel de Allende — and right here.
