We really enjoyed our stay at Antonios casa. He picked us up at the airport Trapani (for moderate payment), which was very comfortable since public transport between the Airport TP and Castellamare is rather complicated.
The flat is furnished well and the rooms - kitchen, 2 large bedrooms and one kids-bedroom - are in good condition. We enjoyed especially the spacious terrasse, which is equipped with a gas barbecue.
The location of the flat within castellamare is very nice. It is near the port and the touristical centre as well as in walking distance to nice bars and restaurants.
Castellamare itself is a nice little town with a pleasant mixture of tourism and resident population. In the northwest you find a lovely nature reserve park and cosy beaches, to the west lies Palermo (you can get there via bus or train). Segesta, Erice and Trapani isn't far as well.
The jasmine gave a wonderful fragrance during our breakfasts on the terace. The apartment is very well located close to the Scopella beach with its unspoilt views and the riserva naturale dello Zingaro. Also the Segesta temple and theatre are a must to visit. Both the kitchen and the bathroom are very basic but the two double beds are of good quality. You also have to like the occasional stray cat. Do bring earplugs as the upstairs neighbours and nearby bar are very noisy in the weekends. We brought a parasol which we didn't use even once as it was forbidden on the Scopello beach and every other beach we went to had parasols to rent. C/mare del Golfo offers lovely seafood restaurants and places to hang out in the evening. You will find most places have wifi near the seafront, the apartment does not.
Excellent apartment, excellent host. Easy to get in touch with, showedup excatelly as he promised. Bigger rooms then the pictures shows. Easy (free) parking in front of the apartment. Nice and tidy inside, even the pots and pans. Several nice restaurants within short walking distance. We strongly recommend a car to get to the best beaches in the area. Extra bonus to Antonino: he checked up on us (by sms) after a couple of days to be sure that our son was ok. (He had a bit of a fever when we arrived.) When the Sirocco came, Antonino came by to give us tips on where to go to stay out of the wind. Would be happy to have Antonino as a host again. We were 3 adults and 2 children (2&4) and we had a great time! 5 out of 5 from Sweden.
Antonino is a very friendly and generous host, who helped us promptly when we needed a doctor and even sent his cousin along to translate for us. The apartment is in a great location, right at the centre of town, close to nice bars and restaurants, although this can be a bit noisy at times as well. The apartment lacks luxury kitchen equipment, such as washing machine, microwave or dish washer, but on the other hand there is baby equipment such as a nice wooden cot, a baby table seat, and a baby bath, which made our stay very convenient. Also the large terrace with gas bbq is a great place to hang out. Altogether certainly recommendable for a family with small children.
We had a really great stay at Antonio's house. The location is awesome - close to the port, restaurants and cafes and the terrace is really nice for dining outside or letting the kids play. The house is unique - high ceilings, big wooden doors from the kitchen and bedrooms that open directly to the outside (there are no normal windows). It's close to a local park and cafes and that makes it a little loud on the weekends. Everything was ready for us and in good condition although the kitchen could be better equipped. The third room (with bunk beds) is very small and has no window. There is no heating in the house, but it wasn't an issue for us. Antonio is very nice and easy to communicate with.
We enjoyed our stay at C/Mare del Golfo. The house is fine, two spacy bedrooms, one small bedroom and a kitchen. The terrace is also great. The house is located at walking distance of the harbor where you can find a few good places to eat. Antonino is a great host. We arrived late in the evening but that was no problem. On our last day we had a short circuit due to a leaking boiler. We called Antonino and within 10 minutes an electrician stood at our doorstep. We went to the beach and when we returned a new boiler was installed. Great service!
