Rustic, Early American Colonial on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires, Western Massachusetts. Guests can spend the day exploring numerous nearby towns, lakes, skiing, hiking trails, and various performing arts performances the Berkshires offers Available for long stays.

The space
This historic home is two stories with all four bedrooms upstairs via a central staircase and hallway. There are two full baths upstairs and a powder room downstairs. The primary bedroom has a queen bed and private bath. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed, the third and fourth bedrooms have full size beds. The three bedrooms share a full bath which is off the central hallway. There are windows AC units in place for the months of July-September. On the first floor, you’ll find a spacious living room with a stone fireplace and a dining room that seats 8. The kitchen has been recently renovated with new appliances and fixtures, and contains all the necessary cooking utensils, pots, and dishes you’ll need. The laundry room and screened porch are off of the kitchen wing and the porch doubles as a mud room and main entry in winter months. There is also a sunny breakfast nook with beautiful pastoral view across a pasture to the historic neighboring farmhouse and a game room off the kitchen.
Perfect for family/friends getaway or retreat in one the Berkshire's most scenic valleys.

While we do not allow pets, we will consider requests to allow 1 small pet with prior approval and acceptance of rules and policies.

Neighborhood highlights

Located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Formerly, sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's Estate. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often available. A quick 15 minute drive to Stockbridge, Great Barrington, Lee, and Lenox where shopping, restaurants, and art await.

The Berkshire's wonderful outdoor and cultural attractions including Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Norman Rockwell, MassMOCA, and Hancock Shaker Village. In the winter quests can enjoy Ski Butternut, Bosquet, Jimney Peak, Otis Ridge and Catamount ski areas all within 20 - 45 minutes from the house.
