Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
After five years, this work of art is finally complete! This eco friendly building was mostly constructed with materials from our forest. Nearly 200 volunteers
had a hand in helping over the years in its construction. It is built with cordwood masonry, round and unique. We are a working 225 acre organic farm and homestead that grows much of our own food. You will love our friendly animals, volunteers and miles of hiking trails. This is a off grid solar powered cabin with an outhouse nearby.

The space
The Enchanted Cabin has a fire pit. Firewood is for sale at the wood stand by the fire pit for $10 a bundle. Kindling and fire starter are provided complimentary. We will also have seasonal items for sale which you can inquire about when you book. Through our passion for excellent seasonal vegetarian cuisine and our love for our farm animal friends, we hope to be an inspiring example of sustainable homesteading.

The cabin has minimal water with very low pressure for washing dishes and showering but does not have drinking water. Be sure to bring your own. Containers can be filled up at a sink behind our barn, however this is well water and not treated in any way. We drink this water but we are not supposed to serve it to the public without chlorinating it. The 5 gallon jugs provided for washing dishes. Msg us and we’ll show you.

This is a rustic cabin located deep in the forest and you might see small creatures, like mice or chipmunks, or insects. If you are afraid of insects or small forest creatures don’t book!

Both being avid outdoor enthusiasts, we enjoy encouraging people to reconnect with nature and the food they are consuming by experiencing our farm and forest.

The bathroom is a Porta potty. Unfortunately we had to remove our quaint outhouses due to health dept regulations in Albany county.

Guest access
Ample parking for 4 cars
guests are allowed to explore the farm and hiking trails
guests aren't allowed to enter any enclosure with animals

Other things to note
Minimal solar electric system depends on sunlight to recharge. Be frugal with your usage. There is also minimal water capacity as it is an off grid camp kitchen.
The toilet is a Porta potty about 50 feet away
Fully equipped off grid kitchen with propane stove top. There is a water jug with spigot on counter for basic washing- we leave several gallons of water to refill washing jug. We provide 1 gallon of drinking water. There is no hot water, but you can heat water on stove top, or use the sink behind our barn next to shower- which has hot water.
Outdoor shower located behind big red barn at farm.
No WiFi, but good cell signal.
No refrigeration. We do provide a cooler, but you have to bring ice.

In summer we get a lot of carpenter bees around all the wooden structures. They are not aggressive- extremely unlikely to sting. Not much we can do about them... they like wood... I have asked an exterminator and he really didn't want to kill them- said they are docile and more will just come back anyway. We've had them in the barn and house for decades- they really don't do any harm and have never stung anyone. I mention this so guests are forewarned. They are big black bumble bee looking like bees.

Neighborhood highlights

Our farm is very remote and the cabin is quite secluded, but it is very safe here. There are towns with stores, restaurants and anything you might need within 10-20 mins drive. The city of Albany is 1/2 hour drive away as well. We can send you a link to our guidebook once you book.

I am a aspiring homesteader and organic farmer with seventeen years of experience in the landscaping, arboriculture and plant fields.
