Valley and garden views
Soak up the views during your stay.
Experience your childhood dreams of staying in a treehouse, even better since this one is inspired by the Hobbit movies, with round doors to enter and to access the deck. Imagine the adventure of arriving to your Hobbit treehouse by crossing a suspension bridge 15 meters up.
Wake up to a symphony of bird songs and the occasional view of monkeys. Order room service from our restaurant and enjoy it on the deck or roof-top terrace. Later, go for a guided trek to a nearby secluded waterfall.
The space
My husband and I own one of Bali’s most unique boutique eco-resorts, Sebatu Sanctuary, which includes the Hobbit treehouse, and seven other distinctive accommodations.
We’ve designed the Hobbit Treehouse for adventurers with one-of-kind features that includes a suspension bridge that leads to the rooftop terrace, a loft for kids (at least 6 years old), a queen-sized swing sofa on the ground floor, a balcony to enjoy breakfast with a view of the forested valley below, a semi-outdoor bathroom, and a bedroom with arched windows on three sides providing views of the surrounding forest.
Begin your day with a sumptuous breakfast from our awarding-winning restaurant choosing from an array of Balinese and western dishes prepared by our chefs. Room service is available and you can dine either on your balcony or go even higher up to the roof-top terrace and enjoy sublime views of the terraced rice paddies across the valley. At the end of the day, tuck yourself into a top-of-line queen-size bed, and 400 thread count cotton sheets. Our boutique eco-resort is compliant with the Green Globe and Earth Check sustainability standards. To reduce our environmental footprint, the treehouse doesn’t have air conditioning, but does have a high quality ceiling fan, and we’re 600 meters above sea level and nights are typically quite cool.
Please be aware that this a real treehouse, built into one large tree. Because of that space and weight had to be limited, and can comfortably sleep two adults and one child in the loft. We have had three adults stay, but the loft space is tight, and not particularly comfortable for adults.
We’re within walking distance of the village of Sebatu that has a 1000-year old sacred water temple, and is renowned for its musicians, Balinese dancers, and wood and stone carvers.
Guest access
Our guests have full access to the 25m natural pool with unique bio-filter; the pool water is cleansed using ecological processes including native fish and aquatic plants. The pool overlooks a forested valley below and has a three-meter high waterfall that besides being great fun, increases dissolved oxygen in the pool necessary healthy fish. Bring swim goggles to fully enjoy the experience of swimming with 300 fish. We also have a full-service restaurant specializing in combining the best aspects of Indonesian and Thai cuisines, and room service is available.
Other things to note
Please note that the treehouse doesnt’ have air conditioning, but we’re at 600 meters above sea level, and most nights are quite cool. The bedroom does have the modern equivalent of an old fashioned ice box room chiller, a highly efficient ceiling fan, and windows that can be opened on three sides.
Maximum capacity is two adults and one child, preferably at least 6 years old. It’s important to note that this is a real treehouse, and maximum height above ground is up to 20 meters. Parents need to supervise their child at all times.
We’ve indicated that the treehouse isn’t suitable for kids from 2 to 5 years old, but realize that each child is different. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Neighborhood highlights
Experience Bali as it was in the mid-20th century near the historic and culturally rich village of Sebatu. Our village is one of only a handful that has sacred water springs and baths called Gunung Kawi, which has been inhabited for over 1,000 years. Sebatu village is also widely known throughout Bali for its waterfall with curative properties and wood and stone carvers, including Indonesia’s most famous wood carver, Pak Made Ada. Additionally, our village is famous for its superb Balinese gamelan musicians and starting in the 1970s, many of these musicians began touring in the US and Europe, with at least 15 musicians having played at the White House.

My work: Eco-resort Mgr&Owner
My husband and I own and operate one of Bali's most unique eco-resorts called Sebatu Sanctuary. On site, we own an award-winning restaurant.
I love to travel and have visited New Zealand and Australia several times, along with Italy, France and Switzerland. For me, it's exciting seeing new places, but also I love Bali and enjoy sharing the island's enchanting culture and beautiful places with our guests.
