The space
Whether you want to relax in a hammock on a lazy summer day, take a hike through the fall foliage, enjoy a hot tub soak in winter, or plan a spring picnic, Fern Rock Mountain Retreat is the perfect location for your family vacation/reunion, intimate wedding, friends weekend, or work team retreat.
Fern Rock Mountain Retreat sits up on 2 mountain knolls, 1) has Fern Rock Lodge and the Treetop screened porch, and the 2) Fox Den a small cabin, and an extra suite inside Fawn Hideaway. The knolls are a steep but beautiful 200 yard walk from each other.
Fern Rock Lodge is a 2200 square foot rustic, yet elegant home that offers custom features inside and out. It sleeps up to ten guests in four bedrooms. Constructed with antique logs, hardwood floors, and wormy chestnut cabinets, Fern Rock Lodge is both spacious and comfortable. When you enter the house you are welcomed into an open gathering space, which includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining room table with eight chairs, two stools at the island, and a cozy kitchen nook. On the first floor, you will also find a living room, full bathroom with shower and laundry, and queen bedroom.
After going up the open wood staircase, you’ll find three spacious bedrooms and a second full bathroom with an antique claw foot bathtub and separate shower.
Fern Rock Lodge Sleeping Accommodations
Bedroom 1 on second floor – 1 king bed
Bedroom 2 on second floor – 2 bunk beds (four twin size beds) + full bed innerspring futon (comfortable enough for adults)
Bedroom 3 - 1 Queen bed + recliner
Bedroom 4 on first floor – 1 Queen bed (new mattress)
Treetop screened porch is a 320 square foot free standing screened porch that serves as a comfortable and scenic outdoor gathering place perfect for eating, reading, playing board games, socializing, relaxing, and even sleeping in nice weather. As an added bonus, you can walk out onto The Perch, an attached viewing deck, which offers a spectacular panorama of mountains.

Fox Den is a 390 square foot, one-floor log cabin with one bedroom, one bathroom with shower, and an open kitchen/living area. The front covered porch runs the length of the cabin and there are two decks with plenty of outdoor living space for your enjoyment. Relax while soaking in the hot tub, gather around the fire pit, or follow the meandering hiking trail down to the pond.Enjoy the fully equipped kitchen, the Weber gas grill located on the side deck for cooking.
Fawn Hideaway is an adorable 160 square foot, one room log cabin that serves as a detached second bedroom for Fox Den. Please note, that Fawn Hideaway guests share the Fox Den bathroom and kitchen. For your convenience, Fawn Hideaway includes a mini-fridge for refreshments/snacks. IT REQUIRES A WALK UP A SMALL HILL WITH STEPS to get to from Fox.
Fox Den and Fawn Hideaway Sleeping Accommodations:
Fox Den Bedroom – 1 queen bed
Fox Den Living Area – 1 Full futon with new inner-spring mattress (for 1 adult or 2 children)
Fawn cottage – 1 queen bed no bathroom

Central air in the Lodge, wall air conditioner in Fox Den, window air conditioner in Fawn cottage.
Heat pump in the Lodge, wall heater in Fox Den, and small propane heater in Fawn. All three residences have a gas log fireplaces, which are turned off in warm seasons).
Wireless signal is weak but available at the Lodge ONLY.
Only Verizon and US Cellular phone service works.

Other things to note
Important Notes:
1. The cabins are built on a knoll and there are some steep areas. Being sure-footed is necessary for walking between buildings and exploring the property.
2. The driveway is steep. All wheel drive vehicles are recommended in good weather and four-wheel drive in icy/snowy weather. Parking is also available at base of the Fox driveway if needed.
3. Children of all ages are very welcome but need adult supervision all times. Wide-spaced porch railings, some high elevations/steep areas, the pond, the hot tub, and gas log fireplace are potential hazards. Parents of young children need to be extra vigilant, especially for little ones (under 2 years old).
4. GPS may not provide accurate directions. Directions can be provided after your reservation is confirmed, but feel free to inquire before booking, if needed.
5. Satellite internet is all that is available at the Lodge. Do not expect speed up in the mountains! Fox Den does not get wifi.
6. $50 non-refundable pet fee will be requested at booking
