Your peaceful home base for Siskiyou County adventures. This 3-bedroom cottage is tucked privately among neighbors' backyards—quiet but walkable to Etna Brewery (5 min), Denny Bar (6 min), and Farmhouse Bakery (5 min). After hiking the Marble Mountains, return to your private yard with goldfish pond and shade trees. Fully stocked kitchen, in-unit washer/dryer, reliable wifi, blackout curtains. As a 5-year Superhost responding within an hour, I'm here to make your mountain escape perfect.

The space
The Main Street Cottage is in the heart of a quiet mountain town, tucked privately among neighbors' backyards—you might miss it from the street if you blink. This charming 1949 cottage has been completely refinished with new flooring, paint, insulation, windows, and appliances, making it the perfect base for work stays, family visits, or exploring Siskiyou County's outdoor adventures.

Inside, you'll find:
Kitchen & Dining: Sunny dining area adjacent to a fully stocked kitchen with full-size refrigerator, electric range, and everything you need to cook meals. Apartment-sized washer and dryer on-site for your convenience.
Downstairs Bedrooms: Two cozy bedrooms (master bed has a queen bed and smaller bedroom has a full) with blackout curtains and charming built-in dressers. Windows overlook the large yard and leafy shade trees.
Upstairs Loft: Sunny 300-square-foot bedroom with queen bed, vintage dresser, and a book nook with leather loveseat. Views of the yard and trees make this a peaceful retreat. Small table perfect for quiet laptop time or remote work.
Bathroom: Efficiently designed with tub/shower combo and adjacent linen closet for storage.
Living Room: Comfortable space with views of the lawn and goldfish pond (home to resident goldfish for many years). Features easy-to-use monitor heater, smart TV, reliable wifi, and landline phone for local calls.

The Vibe: Peaceful, minimal decor that lets you breathe and unwind. This isn't cluttered or overly styled—it's a clean, calm space designed for rest and rejuvenation after your outdoor adventures.
Outside: Private yard with goldfish pond and mature shade trees. You'll hear birds singing, not traffic—and occasionally a neighbor's cow calling for her calf. It's the peaceful mountain living you're looking for.
Perfect Outdoor Adventure Base:

Marble Mountains Wilderness: 30 minutes
Swimming and paddleboarding at Lake Siskiyou: 45 minutes
Skiing at Mt. Shasta: 1 hour

The Peaceful Advantage: Unlike properties right downtown, you're tucked privately among backyards with mature trees—peaceful birdsong instead of street noise—yet everything is a short 5-6 minute walk. It's the best of both worlds: tranquil retreat that's still walkable to dining and essentials.

The Etna Experience: Step outside and walk to Denny Bar (SF Chronicle-featured), Etna Brewery, Farmhouse Bakery, plus the grocery store, library, coffee shops, and all of downtown Etna's charm—all within 5-6 minutes on foot.

Neighborhood highlights

The local elementary school is within a five minute's walk, as are the San Fransisco Chronicle-featured Denny Bar (an excellent restaurant and distillery), Pay Streak Brewery, the lovely Grain Street Bakery, and several other great coffee shops and bakeries, library, grocery store, post office, the wonderful hair salon Tangles, antique & thrift stores, churches, hardware store, bank, and more. Down the main highway a few miles in the nearby town of Fort Jones (through which you'd drive on your way to Yreka, CA) you can grab a burger and sidecar at Five Mary's Farms Burgerhouse, of 'Gram fame, @fivemarysfarms or a morning coffee and bite to eat at the Gifted Horse.

Etna is about 30 minutes from Yreka, which is just off the I-5. There you'll find a WalMart, Raley's, Grocery Outlet, and other shopping and dining opportunities.

Etna is at about 2,800 feet elevation so that means it normally cools off at night in the summer, down to the 50s or 60s from a daytime summer high of 80-90 degrees. We often have snow in the winter, but rarely so much that driving is impeded for more than a few hours. It is rare to get over a foot of snow, for example. The local economy is made up of cattle and timber industries, as well as tourism. Outdoor lovers enjoy skiing and snowshoeing, stand up paddle boarding, hiking, biking, and swimming in mountain lakes. Even if you're more the indoorsy type, you'll love the slow pace and quiet life as a sensory reset. See more about beautiful Siskiyou County here: https://discoversiskiyou dot com
