Neighborhood highlights

Pittsburgh PA 15206. Close to Highland Park, which is slightly uphill on the way there - it offers a traffic free loop, a reservoir walkway, wooded walks, views, and outdoor exercise equipment. Close to more than a dozen restaurants offering Mexican, Thai, French, Vietnamese, Italian, American, and much more. Coffee shops, bakeries and speciality shopping plus a large Target. Wholefoods, Trader Joes, Staples, beauty shops, thrift store, all within walking or biking distance.

On the way to the park, be sure to check out Bryant Street's 6 restaurants (Italian, Japanese, American, Brazilian, Thai and French) and unique shops, which forms part of a pleasant walk through shady neighborhood streets with interesting architecture and colorful gardens. Note some of these are closed on Mondays, and the pandemic makes hours and menus slightly different from normal so please check.

Bryant Street offers a small local market (The Bryant Street Market) that is very well stocked mini-market with fresh daily bread (Mancini's, a Pittsburgh legend), fresh fruit and vegetables, drinks, candy, local ice cream, local high end chocolate, local honey, local pickles from the Pittsburgh Pickle Company (try the Fire and Smoke if you dare) high quality deli items (they do delicious made to order sandwiches), and locally sourced, high quality ice cream and dairy.

Highland Park also offers plenty of cool shady picnic spots, a children's adventure playground, a formal garden and wooded pathways to feel close to nature. Good sunset watching spot by the reservoir. Wend your way back checking out the many architectural styles and awesome homes to dream about. During Spring, Summer and Fall there are a lot of trees, greenery, and flowers. Halloween gets some amazing decorating going on and Christmas too. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Where I went to school: I went to school in the UK - :)
Favorite song in high school: Starman | David Bowie
Originally from the UK, I've lived in the US now for over 40 years. I have two daughters, and four grandchildren - 3 girls and "my only boy" - life is very sweet and I try to find beauty, peace, harmony and delight in every day, no matter how busy I am or how terrifying the world seems. I have one main job and two side gigs, I work hard and love spending quality time with friends and family when I can.
