The space
From the moment you arrive, you will be amazed by The Lehigh Suite at The Inn on Jefferson!
IMPORTANT NOTE!! The third "bed" is a pullout in a Den that opens into the Living area (with sliding doors that close). It is NOT a third Bedroom!
Off-street parking for one car is right outside your door - in a parking area that is fully heated - as are the driveway, all steps, the courtyard and the sidewalks! We even heated the city sidewalk (no easy task getting that approved)! So, there is never any snow or ice to worry about!
IMPORTANT NOTE!! Parking is tight for this Suite and the Barlow Suite which share a parking area. We cannot guarantee that two large vehicles will fit easily. If parking is not possible you will need to park on the street or in a city ramp.
Park in your assigned location and use your key code to enter the "lobby" where you will see the door leading to The Lehigh Suite! Another keyless entry gives you access to the best hotel room you may ever see!
The ground floor features a full kitchen with seating for 6, a stove, oven , dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator/freezer and even a Keurig with the coffee and tea on the house!
There is even a washer/dryer hidden away behind a cabinet door!
The living room features a soaring ceiling with lots of light. The original ceiling is exposed while also having been completely treated and sealed.
Take a seat on the beautiful leather sofa and enjoy some time watching the 65" flat screen TV. YouTube TV is included and features all the local channels plus most of the popular cable channels. Each of the four TVs in The Lehigh Suite offer these stations plus apps for Netflix, Hulu, Prime, Disney+, HBO, Showtime and Starz (apps require you to login into your personal account).
The den is located just past the living room and features an electronically adjustable desk so you can work while standing! An ergonomic chair is included if you want to sit while working.
We hate slow internet service when we travel. So, in The Lehigh Suite we installed Xfinity Fiber Optic for Internet, paying for the highest internet speed they offered.
While we cannot control (or guarantee) the internet speed on any given day or time, we regularly measure download speeds between 200-300mbps - or higher depending on your device. Each Suite at The Inn on Jefferson has its OWN network - so you won't have any other guests using your WiFi and slowing you down!
A comfy sofa completes the den should you need a place to read, relax or watch the 55" flat screen TV. At night, it pulls out to make a Queen bed!
Right next to the den is a full bathroom with shower. The bathroom door on this level opens into the living room.
Head up the stairs to see the beautiful loft!
Open to the main floor below, the loft holds two full Master Bedrooms. Each is complete with their own full bathroom with a shower.
Each of these modern Master Bedrooms feature a built in king bed with normal outlets and USB power along with a directional reading light - on both sides of the bed!
Each Master Bedroom has a 50" flat screen TV mounted on the wall in front of the bed.
The inside walls, facing the open area to the lower level, are all glass. This lets in lots of light and is just plain cool! There are darkening curtains to cover these windows when sleeping.
Like the entire Lehigh Suite, the bathrooms are brand new, modern and sparkling clean! They are also fully stocked for your visit with a hair dryer, soap, conditioner and shampoo.
The Lehigh Suite is heated by radiant heat in the floor with additional baseboards in the upstairs Master Bedrooms. There is an AC unit on the main floor and an AC unit in each bedroom.
The Lehigh Suite and it's sister, The Drumlin Suite, are side-by side (no unit is above or below you) in the old "garage" that was previously a rug shop where the owners sold, repaired and cleaned rugs.
We gutted the entire building down to bare dirt and the four outer brick walls. Due to National Historic rules in the Heritage Hill Neighborhood, we left the original outer brick. Everything else is new and modern!
When you stay in The Lehigh Suite, you will have the entire Suite to yourself. You will share the "lobby" entrance and the parking area.
We include a 24 hour buffer between stays. This means that you will never be booked less than 24 hours after the previous guest departs.
MINIMUM STAY - due to the 24 hour buffer between guests, we now must require a 2 night minimum stay. This is required because the 24 hour buffer costs us the availability of one night every time someone books with us.
We are very experienced Super Hosts! Our original unit (The Barlow Suite) in the 140 year old house is the best reviewed house on Airbnb in Grand Rapids. The Lehigh Suite was built specifically to be hosted via Airbnb. You will NOT be disappointed with your choice to stay here!

The Lehigh Suite is entirely yours exclusively during your stay! You will share only the parking area and the "lobby" where you enter from the parking area to find your private door into The Lehigh Suite.
The Drumlin Suite is in the same building - and shares the "lobby".
Other things to note
The Lehigh Suite at The Inn on Jefferson was remodeled to be offered exclusively on Airbnb. We have added every feature and amenity that we desire in rental homes during our travels.

The Lehigh Suite is in the old brick building behind the original 135+ year old house. The Drumlin Suite is also in this building. You will share a "lobby" entrance with guests staying in The Drumlin Suite. The two suites are side by side - they share a wall. While the wall has dead air space and insulation for sound control - you MAY here noise from other guests at times.
This building does not touch the original house - so you won't hear noise from these units. Guests using these units WILL park in their designated space, be coming and going in the driveway, etc.
There are two units in the original house: The Barlow Suite on the first floor and The Maple Suite on the second floor. The Maple Suite is never rented - it is used by the owners as an office when needed. Most likely we will never be there when you stay with us - but it is possible in which case you will hear the garage door open and close at times.
IMPORTANT: You MUST read and agree to ALL of the HOUSE RULES!
The official Airbnb guest who books is 100% responsible for anyone in the house or on the property while they are staying at The Inn on Jefferson. You must make sure your family, friends and guests understand and abide by the House Rules!
Especially important are these two rules:
There is ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING allowed in the house or on the property. This means no smoking of any kind including vaping, e-cigarettes and anything else whether legal or not. In addition, no burning of incense or anything else that will alter the smell of the house! You are free to make cookies - they smell great! If you cannot abide by this rule - please DO NOT book!
Quiet time is required from 11PM to 8AM! If you can't abide by this rule, please DO NOT book!
Guests who break these rules will be asked to leave, additional nights will be canceled and they will be reported to Airbnb.
While we don't have a front desk and only have three units - The Inn on Jefferson is a licensed HOTEL and as such we are NOT subject to the Short-Term rental ordinance.
We are fully authorized to host guests for one night or many nights. Our Hotel License Number is: HM-17-0029
Please be aware that Grand Rapids has a strict "short-term" rental ordinance. Any home in the City of Grand Rapids that is offered on AirBnB is not legal unless they post their license number.
Short-Term Licenses are not given out to any homeowner offering the entire place for rent. Only primary residences, with the owner at home, are allowed to rent out a single room.
The ordinance requires a Home Occupation Class B License. Here are the first two requirements:
"An owner-occupied dwelling (no renters) in which a single room, couch, or other sleeping area is rented to no more than two adult guests overnight".
"The dwelling must be the principal residence of the owner-operator and the owner-operator shall be in residence when renting".
Be aware that booking a home that doesn't have a license could be at risk for cancellation should the City of Grand Rapids force them to stop renting.
The Inn on Jefferson is fully licensed and legal!
To obtain our hotel license, the Inn on Jefferson has been thoroughly inspected and approved by all the required departments in city.
There is no increased cost to you for the comfort of staying in a licensed hotel! Airbnb collects the Michigan Use Tax and the Kent County Hotel Tax from all guests for any property in Grand Rapids - whether it's a licensed hotel or not.
