Key was readily available in spite of Phyllis' absence, which was nice. And room was clean and ready, if not particularly charming. Neighborhood was very quiet. Bed was comfortable. On the other hand, we found this to be rather modest accommodations for the money in our honest opinion. Although there was access to the kitchen and use of the fridge, honestly the dirty dishes piled in the sink and on counter made it rather unappealing. We warmed a meal and ate in the room.
I arrived home late after an outing and found that the kitchen was indeed a mess. I was very unhappy to see it in such a manner..I had left the dishes to be done by someone else and it clearly was not done. My sincere apologies to Tim. My dishes are usually done, and the kitchen clean, but at other times it is in use...This time, it was neither. Tim did ask ahead of time if he could use the kitchen (not all guests use it), and had every reason to believe it would be clean. Sadly, it was not.
Phyllis communicated with me consistently which was useful since this was my first time using airbnb. The room was set up quite lovely and the vibes that you got from the house/room were welcoming and cozy. Phyllis supplied us with coffee, tea, and treats which was very appreciated in the morning.
Location of the house is perfect walking distance to the downtown area.
I had a positive experience staying at this place. Nice large shower. It was clean and exactly what I needed for a night in Ashland. The town was nice and walkable from the place. I would stay again. :)
Phyllis's son Charlie met us as we arrived and made us feel welcome. The room was perfect for our needs, the bed really comfortable. Phyllis had tea and coffee fixings waiting for us, which we will make use of the next time we stay with her in July. On Sunday morning, just as advertised, as we looked out our large west-facing window, 5 deer were lounging in the back yard - sweet! We like walking and the distance to the theater center was an easy 12-15 minute walk. The neighborhood is residential and quiet.
We will definitely stay here again!
About the Host, Phyllis
Some folks say I am "old Ashland". The greatest of compliments! Moved here with the '70's hippie pioneers...after all these years, I still walk out my door and am grateful for living in such a beautiful town. I raised 3 children here, returned to school and became an RN. I sing in a few community choirs, go for long walks/hikes, ride my bike instead of drive my car in town. I have a big yard with a garden, and my happiest moments are spent digging in the dirt with my 3 year old grandson who lives 3 blocks away. Enjoy the Shakespeare plays, movies. Spend time at the Y ( which is a very happening place here :). I travel when I can, having been to India and Ecuador most recently and have another trip planned in May. I enjoy a good laugh, am easy to be around, and I am reallly looking forward to meeting new travelers in my home.
