Welcome to Tinyhouse De Drentse Droom

Take a deep breath, let go of the stress, and relax. In our Tinyhouse De Drentse Dream, you can unwind on your own or together.

Our Guesthouse is a double cottage and is located in our fenced garden on the edge of the forest of Boswachterij Ruinen, with heathlands, sand drifts and fens. It is still quiet and dark here at night and on cloudless nights you can see the beautiful starry sky!

The space
The cottage is a wonderfully luxuriously furnished accommodation with all amenities. It was completely renovated in early 2020 and made cozy and cosy.

The cottage is a studio with a private entrance, cozy living/bedroom, kitchen block (including a fridge, combi-oven, a Nespresso coffee machine and kettle) and has a separate bathroom with toilet, double sink, design radiator and rain shower.

The cottage is heated by underfloor heating, but there is also an atmospheric gas fireplace to warm up after a lovely walk or bike ride when the days get a little colder. On hot days, the air conditioning can be used so that you can always sleep cool. You sleep on a delightful Swiss Sense Van der Valk hotel box spring 1.60m wide and Van der Valk linen.

The cottage has French doors to a large private terrace with a garden and a seating area with a parasol for dining al fresco as well as a nice lounge sofa for relaxing. The lounge sofa is under a pavilion that you can pull open or close to the sun or a little rain as needed. If you want to relax completely, lie down in the hammock and dream away….

Places in the immediate vicinity

Echten
The village of Echten is a short walk from Drenthe Dreom. Here you will find the harbour cathedral "house Echten”
Already in the 14th century there was a court of a Volker van Echten. However, it is not certain whether this Hofstat was the later House in Echten. In the present house traces have been found, which probably date back to the 15th century. Originally it was a hall, which was probably converted into a house around a courtyard in the early 18th century, with two wings on the north and south sides. Due to a later renovation in 1808, many of the former building elements have disappeared. The canal around the building dates back to the period before 1700. The house was then accessible for barges, who could supply the house. Later, the two buildings on the north and south sides were added to the building. Although there is a tower on one of these buildings, the church services were probably held in a room of the house itself.

Hoogeveen (t Ogeveine)
The history of the peat of the present municipality of Hoogeveen has been described since 1551. That year, Reinold van Burmania and his wife bought the so-called Meppense Venen, the southeastern half of the city. In 1625 Roelof van Echten exchanged an area the size of 2000 tomorrow for promised services and infrastructure with the farmers of Steenbergen and Ten Arlo. The area was once owned by the Lord of Ruins. In 1631 the two areas were brought together and the actual history of the change began. (source: wikipedia)

Ruins
Ruins was from the Middle Ages to the French era a high glory referred to as glory Ruins. In a deed of 1139 Otto van Ruinen is mentioned as one of the servants of the bishop of Utrecht. (source wikipedia)

Meppel (Möppelt)
Meppel was already mentioned in 1141 [1] in a charter, but at that time it was no more than a group of farms. In 1422 Meppel was separated from Kolderveen as an independent church play and then a church was allowed to be built. [2] This Great or Marian Church is still there, although much has changed over the centuries. The place was at that time no more than a village. Meppel flourished in the 16th century because of the peat excavations in the northern Netherlands; the city was an important transit port because of the connection to the Drenthe Hoofdvaart and the Hoogeveense Vaart on one side and the Meppelerdiep on the other. The Zuiderzee could be reached via the Meppelerdiep near Zwartsluis. Along this road, the peat was exported from all over Drenthe to the west of the country.
