Located a half-hour drive from downtown Chicago, or 45-minute train ride with station only blocks away. Close to O'Hare airport, Schaumburg Convention Center, Woodfield Mall, Sears Center music venue, Spring Valley Nature Center and Morton Arboretum.

This is a real treehouse, not a stilt house, so in a strong wind the treehouse will gently rock much like a sailboat at anchor in a safe harbor.

Friendly hosts welcome all.

PLEASE NOTE: The Village of Schaumburg now says that we cannot rent the treehouse under the zoning laws, but that we can rent a room in our home and let our guests use the treehouse. Thus, the pictures and amenities listed are offered free to guests, who will have complete private access to the treehouse, but the rental fee is for a room in the house. Thank you for your understanding.

WINTER LOVERS: We got talked into opening the treehouse in the winter and it worked out great. The hot tub works; the treehouse is warm; the stream and waterfall are running, and the winter garden and birdwatching are amazing! However, the outdoor shower is down for the winter, the sink water is off, and the RV toilet is inside under the counter. We put a 2 1/2 gallon water jug over the sink so there is water for teeth, coffee, etc. The toilet is sealed shut when not in use, and we cover it with a towel. You can snowshoe at the Spring Valley Nature Center down the street, with snowshoe rentals for a nominal charge.

Also available in the summer, private sailing trip on Lake Michigan aboard beautiful 42-foot yacht with licensed captain.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Daniel's treehouse. The garden was beautiful and Daniel did a great job showing us the amenities. It felt very private and we would love to go back.

  • The treehouse was very cozy and Daniel was a gracious host. He made my wife and I feel very welcome. Highly recommended for a nice getaway. Daniel was very accommodating when my wife became ill at the last minute. He allowed us to push our night back a couple of weeks. We will definitely go back for another stay.

  • I stayed in a treehouse with my girlfriend for a night and it was absolutely incredible. What a tranquil and beautiful escape, I highly recommend it and Dan and Cypriana are great hosts to boot!

  • The treehouse was awesome. We took a nap once we arrived because it was so serene and peaceful to be 15 feet up, swaying in a strong breeze. The bed was remarkably comfortable and had about 20 pillows of every conceivable level of softness. The fire pole was fun and while the RV style toilet wasn't exactly ideal, it worked fine and was completely as advertised (there's really no other way to have a toilet in a treehouse). The koi pond a wonderful bubbling white noise and the whole experience was very relaxing. It's as secluded as can be in a person's backyard, but Dan was fantastic. He showed us everything and then closed the blinds to his house so we had a private oasis. We didn't take advantage of the outdoor shower or hot tub, but really enjoyed the treehouse. Plus, Village Tavern and Grill was 5 minutes away and provided a perfect place to grab a beer and dinner before retiring to the treehouse.

  • Dan was a great host. He was waiting for us arrived, showed us around and how to work everything (hot tub, grill, etc), and was friendly. He was easily available by text/email. Even though you are right in his back yard, he and his family give you your space and you have complete privacy. He has a beautiful yard and a fun and cozy treehouse--I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

  • The treehouse was great! Dan was timely with communication, friendly in person and very willing to accommodate us during our stay. You can tell he takes pride in the space as attention to detail was evident. From the flat screen TV on a rotating wall mount to the dimmer switch on the lights, we appreciated the uniqueness of the experience. We weren't able to take advantage of the hot tub, but it looked lovely. The toilet under the counter wasn't that inconvenient and the room was warm and comfortable. We'd love to return!

  • Daniel was a wonderful host and has truly created quite the amazing place. The bitterness of the midwestern cold was no match for this treehouse - it got toasty very quickly. I cannot wait to come back when it is warmer out to better enjoy the hot tub and the rest of the idyllic premises.

  • It is truly a once in a lifetime experience!

  • My partner and I were the first "winter warriors" to stay in Daniel's treehouse, and it was an amazing and fun experience. The place is so cozy and romantic with the fireplace and decor and lights and wonderful hot tub. It was one of the coldest days of the winter but we were warm and sat in the hot tub while the snow fell. We never left the whole time we were there..the surroundings were beautiful and allowed for a lot of privacy too. On top of it all he put fresh flowers and a bottle of champagne in the house to welcome us. It was such a nice getaway, we highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Daniel we are looking forward to a summer visit!

I'm an outgoing family man who, along with my wife, would love to host you in our backyard garden treehouse which I built with help from a buddy. I'm a coast guard licensed sailor who took a few years off to sail the Caribbean. I do carpentry, and in my spare time I am currently helping to develop an eco treehouse lodge on the Snake River in the Teton foothills near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I also enjoy gardening. We are a multi-racial open-minded household so people of all races and lifestyles are welcome here.
