This is a real treehouse, not a stilt house, so in a strong wind the treehouse will gently rock much like a sailboat at anchor in a safe harbor.
Friendly hosts welcome all. LGBT friendly.
PLEASE NOTE: The Village of Schaumburg says that we cannot rent the treehouse under the zoning laws, but that we can rent a room in our home and let our guests use the treehouse exclusivly. Thus, the pictures and amenities listed are offered free to guests, who will have complete private access to the treehouse, but the rental fee is for a room in the house. Thank you for your understanding.
WINTER LOVERS: We got talked into opening the treehouse in the winter and it worked out great. The hot tub works; the treehouse is warm; the stream and waterfall are running, and the winter garden and birdwatching are amazing! However, the outdoor shower is down for the winter, and the sink water is off. We put a 2 1/2 gallon water jug over the sink so there is water for teeth, coffee, etc. The toilet is sealed shut when not in use, and we cover it with a towel. You can snowshoe at the Spring Valley Nature Center down the street, with snowshoe rentals for a nominal charge.
Also available in the summer, private sailing trip on Lake Michigan aboard beautiful 42-foot yacht with licensed captain.
Guests should be age 21 or older.
Had a great experience staying with Dan. Highly recommended and unique place with lots to do. Would definitely come back again!
Daniel was great! He met us when we got there and showed us all of the ins and outs. The listing accurately described the place and my girlfriend and I had an awesome time. We were originally planning on taking a train to Chicago for part of the day, but after arriving at the treehouse in the early afternoon, we didn't want to leave. We watched a movie inside, had a campfire, and roasted s'mores. It was a little too humid for the hot tub the day we went, but I guess that just means we'll need to go back! Would definitely recommend.
Daniel was great! He welcomed us early and the house was great. Highly recommend.
This was a surprise for my boyfriend! He doesn't like driving to Chicago area so he wasn't to happy with me! I let my host know as soon as I got there that he wasn't happy! The host did a great job directing his attention to him! He showed us the tree house and some tension left! It got much better as night went on hot tubs do wonders for relaxing a unhappy guy! The host was friendly and very curious to the needs and space of his visitors! We left for supper right after getting there and then we were in for the night as people say! We hit the hot tub 3 different times cause drinks and relaxing hot tubs do a number on you plus you have to go up that ladder! (Better safe then sorry right LOL) The stream of water from the fish pond was wonderful to sit and just listen to! We got to meet the family dog just precious (love dogs). It was storming when we woke up perfect way to start a new day! Waking up in a tree house with rain, thunder, and lightning! So all in all loved the tree house, hated the drive, but still together and he still loves me and a great experience to add to are travels! This is where I rate it better then our trip to Hawaii!(To long of flight and rained 4 of the 7 days we were there!) I just want to say Thank you Thank you for hosts that offer this kind of experience to people at a good price too! Thanks again for everything Loved it!
Daniel was a great host! The treehouse was well-constructed and had all the amenities as described. It is incredible something like this exists in the middle of a subdivision!
This was an absolutely perfect getaway! My husband I spent a lovely evening sitting amongst the birds enjoying a bottle of wine on the deck of the tree house. The back yard was beautiful - just as described and shown in the pictures. Our host family was gracious, yet gave us our privacy.

I'm an outgoing family man who, along with my wife, would love to host you in our backyard garden treehouse which I built with help from a buddy. I'm a coast guard licensed sailor who took a few years off to sail the Caribbean. I do carpentry, and in my spare time I am currently helping to develop an eco treehouse lodge on the Snake River in the Teton foothills near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I also enjoy gardening. We are a multi-racial open-minded household so people of all races and lifestyles are welcome here.
