This is a real treehouse, not a stilt house, so in a strong wind the treehouse will gently rock much like a sailboat at anchor in a safe harbor.
Friendly hosts welcome all.
PLEASE NOTE: The Village of Schaumburg says that we cannot rent the treehouse under the zoning laws, but that we can rent a room in our home and let our guests use the treehouse exclusivly. Thus, the pictures and amenities listed are offered free to guests, who will have complete private access to the treehouse, but the rental fee is for a room in the house. Thank you for your understanding.
WINTER LOVERS: We got talked into opening the treehouse in the winter and it worked out great. The hot tub works; the treehouse is warm; the stream and waterfall are running, and the winter garden and birdwatching are amazing! However, the outdoor shower is down for the winter, and the sink water is off. We put a 2 1/2 gallon water jug over the sink so there is water for teeth, coffee, etc. The toilet is sealed shut when not in use, and we cover it with a towel. You can snowshoe at the Spring Valley Nature Center down the street, with snowshoe rentals for a nominal charge.
Also available in the summer, private sailing trip on Lake Michigan aboard beautiful 42-foot yacht with licensed captain.
Guests should be age 21 or older.
We were looking for an interesting romantic getaway and we found it. The authentic treehouse was clean and cozy. Down the ladder from our tree house we had a hammock to enjoy, a flowing water garden with fish, and a quiet peaceful neighborhood. The Treehouse is technically in the host's back yard, but it was private and he was completely unobtrusive while still being communicative. We didn't get a chance to use the hot-tub or roast marshmallows as we planned, but we did have a great time.
Booked this as a surprise getaway for my boyfriend, he absolutely loved it. We had a magical stay -- we read and watched the birds in the hammock, had a great time in the roomy hot tub, and ate all our meals on our "porch." The treehouse itself was comfortable and cosy, and the outdoor shower was fun!
We definitely appreciated how chill Daniel was -- we were running late when we arrived and he was nothing but understanding. We were left to ourselves the entire time, and essentially had the backyard to ourselves, which was nice!
It's amazing that this exists in Schaumburg! We will definitely be back again, perhaps for a longer stay (: Would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a unique weekend getaway!
We had so much fun in the treehouse! We stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub along with the treehouse itself. Daniel was a great host - he showed us all we needed to know, was friendly and helpful, but also gave us privacy.
Daniel is the absolute best! My friend and I stayed here for one night on our way to Ikea (only 5 miles away). He met us outside and gave us the run down of the treehouse. It's seriously the coolest thing ever. It's like a little castle in the sky. I can't believe he built it with his own two hands.
It was FREEZING outside, but we were still SO cozy. We weren't sure if maybe it was too cold for the hot tub, but it was absolutely PERFECT. The hot tub is so warm and Daniel provides robes, so you're not even cold when you get out.
I even had some work to do on my laptop and it hooked right up to the fast-speed wifi. Couldn't be happier!!!!
Daniel is a wonderful host and he's really created a lovely treehouse! I'm a returning winter warrior and everything was perfect. He was very flexible on check-in time and me and my best friend feel welcome. Looking forward to staying again in the summer this time. :)
