Unwind at the "Love Shack" - 90 miles north of the GWB in the quaint Catskills hamlet of Smallwood. Get away from it all without isolating yourself. Soak up nature, enjoy the large shaded deck and backyard firepit.

Conveniently located near Bethel Woods, breweries/distilleries, casino, waterpark, lakefront dining, horse riding, antique shops and recreation areas for hiking, swimming, boating and more!

The space
Guests have private access to this entire cabin and property. It is centrally located in Sullivan County and has everything you need to enjoy the gorgeous Western Catskills! Enter the cabin to the airy, light-filled sunroom with adorable vintage dining set that doubles perfectly for a remote working situation as reliable high speed WiFi is provided throughout. Comfortably sleep 4 people in two bedrooms, the larger with a queen bed and smaller with a twin bunk. Both fully enclosed bedrooms are accessed off the spacious living room steeped in rustic charm with its 1940's paneled walls, and a fireplace. Days with questionable weather are no problem with the Roku in guest mode where you can securely sign in to your own TV streaming services. There is one bathroom with a glass enclosed stall shower. The fully equipped kitchen has all your necessities for cooking and grilling out, plus a dishwasher.

Relax on the large fully shaded back deck and contemplate what to cook on the charcoal grill. Enjoy the cool mountain nights around the large firepit just off the back deck. Hike the trails in the Smallwood Forest Reserve, make use of the outdoor exercise equipment or just wade in the creek waters at Minnie Falls while listening to the soothing sound of the waterfalls.

Located close to both Lake Superior State Park where there is a low cost pass option ($5) and the public access at Toronto Reservoir there are lots of local swimming options.

A baby bjorn travel crib and sheet are provided as well as some toys and books for small children. Other baby/toddler items may be made available upon request, inquire when booking.

The hamlet of Smallwood, NY was established in 1928 and the Love Shack is one of the original cabins, constructed in the 1940's. It is located within the town of Bethel, NY - home to the 1969 Woodstock Festival.

Smallwood itself boasts a variety of natural attractions including The Forest Reserve at Smallwood offering nature trails, bird watching, and outdoor exercise equipment; "Minnie Falls" brookside hike; and non-motorboat Mountain Lake with 3 paved miles for scenic walks, jogs or biking.

Other nearby recreational facilities include the Toronto Reservoir with a motorboat launch and swimming, Lake Superior State Park, The Town of Bethel Pool and Park, and boat rentals on White Lake. In Kauneonga Lake, just two miles away, you can find lakeside dining and music, yoga,a farmers market, and The Bethel Heritage Trail. Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, just five miles down the road, hosts fun events year round including concerts, festivals and artist markets.

We live in New York City - Astoria, Queens to be exact. We bill ourselves as "The Fields" because we are Pax Whitfield and Mary Scofield. You gotta admit, it has a ring to it. We love to travel and explore new places when we can. We're easy going and enjoy meeting new people. For vacations, we're usually looking for a nice little get-away-place to relax. We love the city but need to escape every now and then:-) When we travel we usually like to "live like locals" which is what makes Airbnb so appealing to us. 5 things we can't live without: good food, good wine, good company, good music, good times! Places we've traveled internationally: France, Spain, Greece, Egypt, Israel, Mexico, Canada. Domestic travel: Pax has visited 48 of the 50 states (Alaska and North Dakota are still on the list) and Mary has solidly traveled to every state on the east coast and a few on the west coast. We'd say our life motto truly is "Carpe Diem", cliche but true!
